5-0 out of 5 stars Radical Thinking about Scrapbooking
I'm not prepared to give up my big family albums in favor of the theme albums that Stacy advocates in this book. However, I am inspired to ALSO make some theme albums. Plus, her philosophy is very liberating and many of her ideas are exciting. Stacy assures the reader that we don't have to work chronologically. She encourages us to make a small album of our favorite pictures.

I needed to make a gift album as a going-away present for a colleague. Following Stacy's guidance in this wonderful book made the project do-able in the short time that I had to get it done. And, it was beautiful and much appreciated.

Get this book for the ideas and the philosophy it presents.

5-0 out of 5 stars true to the title
This perfectly sized book is a great reminder that typical albums can be so boring to store photos in. Many of the ideas are perfect to capture a specific event. The examples are photographed nicely with clear instructions. This is one that I keep pickig up for new ideas.

5-0 out of 5 stars must have it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Finding out who I am.
This is an excellent book/project for anyone who wants to understand themselves better.I'm free from an abusive relationship now, and with a man who treats me like gold.
So I don't know a better time to start learning about myself.
And it's been quite a while since I've seen my family, so I'm making copies of the scrapbook pages I'm making to send to my mother.Thank you, Angie!Wonderful job!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best idea-starter I've ever found
You can find hundreds of resources out there that just give you layouts. They're a dime a dozen, all tripping over each other with endless duplication.
But this is the first one I've found that gives you a totally new perspective on scrapping and journaling.Instead of just doing the same tired old "event-event-event" formats, Angie Pedersen has had the brilliant idea of examining your own entire life-story as a whole and putting it into a meaningful context.
She's provided tons of quotations that are wonderful idea-starters.For example, one said, "There's something joyful and comforting about ice cream."Not only did it make me laugh, but it made me think about the major role ice cream has played in my life.Going back through old pictures, I found some of cranking out homemade ice cream with my parents when I was a kid, many birthday pics with my little face smeared chocolate, a midnight raid on the dorm's ice-cream machine during finals week in college, shots of enjoying ice cream with my own kids at the zoo, and sharing a big bowl with my baby grandson.Yup, I ALWAYS reach for the ice cream! But until I read Angie's book, I would NEVER have thought about combining all those different events over my life-span into one layout.
In one chapter, Angie talks about analyzing the people and the sources that have been influential in shaping your spiritual outlook on life.Just reading her book's quotations and thinking about this was a valuable experience in figuring out how I got to be who I am.Naturally, I didn't have pictures for a lot of this, but Angie's suggestions for no-picture situations made it an easy layout.Same with thinking about the times I've had to overcome something I was afraid of doing.
This book is nothing short of a radical new way to look at scrapping. Not only does it give a different "feel" to your pages, but it's a great way to gain new insights into your life. This book should be in the hands of every therapist!

4-0 out of 5 stars The only one of its kind
For childless singles and for those who - like me - come from families that never paused to take many pictures (or even have a working camera in the house) - this book is EXCELLENT! Just a few minutes reading the prompts and ideas will show you that you have far more material for scrapbooking than you might have thought possible (including how to showcase those events you were too busy to photograph). The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the book's focus is primarily on finding content. Once you've generated ideas, there's not as much in the way of layout or other basic how-to's. If you're not an experienced scrapbooker, consider getting an introductory how-to book to use WITH this one. By itself, it's not enough information. It WILL definitely inspire, though! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine: Don't buy through Amazon.
I've purchased this magazine in grocery stores and liked it, so I subscribed through Amazon. The company actually responsible for seeing the subscription is filled is FW PUBLICATIONS.I ordered in March of 2003.September rolled around and I still hadn't seen and issue. After several phone calls to FW Publications, I finally received an issue.I've received four issues total. Here it is, March 2004, and they've stopped sending magazines.Apparently they think my subscription is finished after I've received half the magazines I've paid for.It would have been cheaper for me to buy them from the grocery store.Go ahead and subscribe to this magazine, just don't do it through Amazon.Their partner company is VERY UNRELIABLE.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love it, Love it!
This is a great magazine for scrapbooking.Full of fun, fresh layouts that gets your creative juices flowing. My only complaints would be that I like to read the journaling on the layouts that people have done and MM doesn't shoot the photos of the layouts so you can do that, and they frequently showcase layouts that are too much work.Who has time to do some of those pages?

If you want a 5 star magazine, check out Creating Keepsakes Magazine.CK has just gone to 12 issues a year and usually has a freebie clip art page with each issue. You can read the journaling on the layouts, and CK has Becky Higgins, Scrapping Diva!

Or, do what I do and subscribe to both!

    Happy Scrapping!

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST ON THE MARKET!
I'm not big on magazine subscriptions, but being an avid scrapper this magazine is a MUST HAVE!The scrapbooking craze has taken off and of all the different magazines out there - this is the one to have! The ideas are beautifully portrayed and are sent in from all over the world. The presentation of the layouts is pleasing too.Other scrapbooking magazines tend to be too cluttered, but MEMORY MAKERS is hands down a quality product!Living overseas we don't get our choice of magazines and I look forward to getting my MM every-other month! It's the only magazine I ever read COVER TO COVER! ...
