5-0 out of 5 stars Bead up on the latest
Beadwork magazine as with most magazines on a particular skill or art gives you every thing you expect. Magazines can not replace books for in-depth and specialties skills that are targeted by a particular beader. However they are broader and more contemporary. There are projects for novice and expert alike using traditional materials and the latest in bead technology.

The projects are well described and have color pictures and diagrams. You will find Step-by-step instructions. There are always fresh ideas. I am particularly interested more in Bead Knitting than in bead jewelry.

One of the mane reasons to buy magazines is to find sources of recourses. The market changes all the time. The ads in this book give you locations and websites for items to add to your stash.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beadwork magazine
This magazine is good but only average to people who want to use the projects most of the projects are very out there so if that's your thing you will love it.For the average beader it is NOT worth the cover price.
Beware the subscription to this magazine if you are not in the US it's overseas subscription is the worst of any magazine I have ever come across, out of 4 issues that I should have had I've had 1 !!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars If your going to read one Beading Magazine this is it
Beading is enjoing a wave of popularity right now and there are more magazines than ever and frankly, I read them all. Beadwork stands above the others in many ways. The quality of the articles is fresh and informative, not the same tired junk recycled over and over. New news in the beading world is never over looked and the patterns are always detailed and sources for materials given. If I could only subscrible to one Beading Magazine Beadwork would definitely fill the bill. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars "Lapidary Review" - What a total misnomer!!
I expected this magazine to cover articles related to rocks, cabochons, semi precious stones etc.I have just received my second issue. At least 50% of the 95 pages are simply advertising - which I think is, to put it mildly, far too much. Their features this month are: "Dreaming in Metal," "Improving you Opal cutting," "2004 AGTA Spectrum Awards."The Step by Step projects include: "Forged hinged bracelet." "Ancient Vessel" - using glass, foil, and lampworking skills to create this "fun" pendant!!" , and how to make a pair of bell earrings using PMC paper!!

Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary defines lapidary as:"a) sculptured in or engraved on stone; b: of or relating to precious stones or the art of cutting them; c) having elegance and precision." This review deals with nothing even close to this definition.I wish I could cancel my subscription, but there is no place on their website where one can do this.

3-0 out of 5 stars gone downhill
This used to be a great magazine but in the past year they have changed format, and have cut their articles by a third. The projects they go over have become less challenging, more for crafters then for jewelers. A third to half the magazine is advertisements, and they are always, the same.

4-0 out of 5 stars Top of the line...
Lapidary Journal Magazine is #1 in my book as far as a magazine geared for people in the jewelry field. Covers just about all aspects from creating to selling and even has project plans! Has a lot of great advertisers if you are just starting out as a hobby jewelry maker. This magazine will help you locate just about anything jewelry related you are searching for. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Wish I could give it -1 star
I don't think there is anything that I could add to the comments the other beaders have left above regarding this magazine. They NEVER responded to any concerns I had and the magazine itself is not nearly the level expected in a so-called "professional" publication.Check out "Beadwork" or "Bead and Button" magazines instead. They cost more, but are far superior publications.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the cost of an issue
This magazine suffers from many problems: poor editing, incomplete and incomprehensible instructions, failure to respond to concerns and questions from their subscribers - just to name a few. There are several other magazines that fill this area of interest so much better, Bead and Button and Beadwork for two.Stay away from the hassle here. Try the other quality & professionally produced magazines, you'll be glad you did.

1-0 out of 5 stars Jewelry Crafts Magazine
And one star is really too much for this magazine. I surely agree with Amybeader about this magazine, I got the first issue when it came out in the early 1990's and fell in love with it, but I have watched it lose its alure in the last few years, but Istubornly held on untill this year -2003 in hopes the editors would wake up and and see how far down they were sliding and get it together and put out something better, but they haven't. and I too didn't renew my sub.this time, as I become so frustrated with their "instuction" for a project that would make me want to scream.I thought I was the only one that was having a problem with the magazine and I appreciate amybeader for telling it like it is.They even quite publishing letters from thier readers which I never saw a magazine do before, guess other readers felt like I did too. There are much better magazine out there that make you feel good about your talents - Expression is one of the best and they offer a wide range of jewelry and clay designs along with other projects that open your world up and inspire you to incorporate other objects and media into your designs that you wouldn't normally think about mixing together. Two other new mag. are Polymer Cafe and Bead Style .All three of these new magazine are worth their weight in gold and jewels. The newbead Style is published by Bead and Button magazine and is great for beginers and advanced jewelry designers and beaders. They offer projects that can easly be achived.Well, thanks for reading this and much thanks again to amybeader for sharing - as a avid beader and jewelry designer myself,it is always hard for me to see a magazine go down, its like losing a close friend, but when all one gets from reading a magazine is frustion then it is time to let go and move on as hard as that can be- Life is too short and frustrating every day - we need inspriation and projects that make us smile and feel good about pur talents and encorage us to try new things.I do know when one door is closed there will be a bigger window opened with a much more beautiful view. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I agree! Go to the source!
Belle Armoire is an amazing magazine for people interested in creating or simply enjoying one of kind accessories and embellished clothing that are true works of art. Every issue is a treat...but I agree...I've also contact Amazon about the pricing...go to www.stampington.com and pay half.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring but don't buy it from Amazon!
This is one of the best wearable arts magazines around. Inspiring and full of new techniques that are well described and photographed. However the price that Amazon charges is nearly *twice* the charge at the publisher's website. Go there to order it. I've tried numerous times to point out the discrepancy, but they ignore me completely.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiration and Challenge
Belle Armoire means "beautiful wardrobe" and every issue delivers on this promise to inspire you to create a beautiful wardrobe for yourself or someone you love.

Projects range from silk painting to sewing to beading...the embellishment possibilities are endless. Any given issue may have an interview with a clothing designer or a fashion artist. The Salon pages - comprised of the readers' work - are packed with inspiration plus there are always short instructions for the projects on later pages.

The photography is cutting edge with a high fashion look. The magazine is printed on very nice, glossy paper with a rigid glued binding - NO STAPLES here! Advertising is discreet and does not attempt to overwhelm the focus of the magazine.

I have been reading and collecting Belle Armoire from the first issue and it always impresses me with its range and depth of vision. I always come away with new ideas. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Expression inspires
You savor each page, each photo, each creation in Expression. It's a pleasure to steal a couple of hours and read each article - looking at the photos and being inspired to create. The artistic design and the high quality of paper make it a magazine that I keep and review later with my art materials in front of me.It allows you to step beyond what you know and see what other artists are doing. You will be always looking forward to the next exciting issue.

5-0 out of 5 stars Expressions is exceptional
