5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed until the date on the address label (and after)
I got Ladybug for years until the date on the address label (when the subscription ended). I still enjoy reading them today. I always read them cover to cover and read some parts over and over. I especially enjoy the comics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality reading - no advertisements!
Our girls received Ladybug for several years. The magazines are printed on high quality paper, but still after MANY reading, were in good shape.

A great benefit of LADYBUG is there is no advertising. The magazine is full of great illustrations, good site words and bright colors.

A great gift for your own children!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Cricket Group publishes the best magazines for children
I love these magazines. We subscribe to Ladybug, Spider, and Cricket (each for a different child). The stories are great, as is the illustration. An illustrator friend of mine says that it is very prestigious to be asked to illustrate a story in these magazines, and I figure it is the same for the stories. No advertising, of course. The thing I like the best is that each magazine is geared toward a certain age of child.Highlights tries to be something for everyone, so we look through the magazine to find an appropriate story. In Ladybug, we just start at the beginning and read straight through. As the publisher will tell you, when your child outgrows Ladybug, you just let them know and they change your subscription to Spider (and later, Cricket. That's as far as we've gotten). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Toddler Magazine For Your Animal Lover!!!
We ordered this magazine for our son when he was one year old because he loves photographs of animals. This magazine is so cute. Each month they feature a baby animal with real photographs and a short story. The issues also include an animal fingerplay, an animal comparison (Showing your child how a particular animal is similar in one way to him or herself.), a short story about a child and his or her pet, and a picture hunt for a little skunk that is hidden four places in the magazine.Other material changes each month and feature an early childhood concept. Some months you will have counting, other months focus on a beginning sound (and all the animals that start with that sound), opposites, and other skills are introduced. What a greatintroduction to magazines.A must for every toddler that is an animal lover. My son is now 17 months and will bring his Wild Animal Baby magazine to me and sit in my lap wanted it to be read over and over.

Another plus to this magazine is that it is small for little hands (about board book size). The corners are rounded and the pages are sturdy (but not as thick as board book pages). The magazine is also glue bound so you don't have to worry about a curious toddler and staples.

4-0 out of 5 stars Everything is good except the binding
The magazine is interesting and informative. My toddler can recognize and tell the names of many animals, she learns a lot from the magazine.
Just one thing is that the binding easily coming off after a few times of flipping.
We would like to keep the magazines and so the siblings and other kids can have the chance to read them.

I have been gluing and putting scotch tapes all over the magazines, but they still not holding up.

Hope the publisher will look into this matter and have it improved.
Thank you for your attention.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toddler magazine!Nice size for little hands.
I started my daughter's subscription on her first birthday. She loves the idea of getting her own magazine, and we spend lots of time looking through each issue. We keep all the issues with her books, and I've often seen her looking at them.We take them with us when we go out to eat so she has something to look at.They're also terrific potty reading material; easy for her to hold and great pictures. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Disney Adventures is just one of them...
Seriously, folks, isn't EVERYBODY tired of hearing from the same shows over and over? Yeah, yeah..Kim Possible, That's so Raven. This magizine just tries to reinforce the idea over and over just like the shows. They said in the magizine that Kim Possible is BETTER than Spongebob Squarepants...[Astonished] Look, if you are one of those kids [Or Adults] that just likes to sit in front of the TV on Saturday mornings craving these shows, than this you to hop on the Disney Cruise with this magizine and never come back. But, if you are a kid [Or Adult] like me that is more mature and wants to look at something that isn't quit so bad, I'd reccomend Nick Magizine. Disney needs to go out of business [Which we know is never ever gonna happen because they got money coming out of their butts] because they are just taking over the world. [Think about it, they got their own private island, they got their own state of the art cruise line] They probably make way more money than any other company out there.

The bottom line is just don't buy. Look at the cover and you will see what I mean.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disney Adventures Magazine
Better then Nickelodean, but still not quite there.Too many advertisements, too less of actual reading material.Rather uninteresting comics that I prefer to skip over, and only a few really interesting pages per magazine.Celebrity interviews are nice, but almost every magazine has those.Kind of cheesy activities, and overall, just not my kind of magazine.I prefer American Girl, Highlights For Children, and Discovery Girls. They may not be considered "cool" by some people, but they're definately better quality and worth what you spend on them.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great magazine but....
I like this magazine, but after a year of reading it, um you get older and it get's boring!! Though I like Disney, but there's a lot of advertisement, and it's really not that great. I mean you've already seen advertisement in t.v. or at the store, now magazines!! The comic section, I don't really like because well it's boring!! I hate comics!! I like the fill-out stuff and games. And when it's time for the Radiodisney Awards thingy it's cool. I like that part. But as a 11 year old, this a little bit too young for me. I recommend Popstar Magazine for ages 11 and up. And like other Teen magazines, sometimes they get boring because, there's more about like beauty and mushy gushy stuff, but I think it's okay, I recommend more of music or movie magazines is more interesting, for 11-12 year olds it's perfect. I hope you made a good choice of this magazine, if you like it or not. Check grocery stores, Barnes and Noble, or Borders to get this magazine. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Eh...
Cutesy, fluffy, but of no use to girls who actually have problems in life. When girls are at the crucial age of 11, 12, or so, and when they are just starting to discover their interests in boys, when they are just beginning their journeys towards womanhood, it is no time for them to be bombarded with information on how to kiss a boy. That comes much later.
Girls who act so mature, kissing and dating boys when they are so young, are doomed to a life of divorce and unhappiness. THey will think that every cute guy who comes along actually cares about them. Girls that age have more important things to worry about than catching a cute guy. I am very disappointed...I thought this magazine would deal with issues such as grades, building better relationships with your parents, dealing with your raging emotions. But GL is all about cute styles, bikini-worthy bodies, little blonde girls, and boys. Yuck.
That said, it does have some cute quizzes. But again, totally useless entertainment.

5-0 out of 5 stars PERFECT For 12-15 year olds
I think this magazine is perfect for girls who "graduated" from American Girl and\or Discovery Girls, i know i sure have, it really deserves 5 stars! I loooooooooooove Girls Life!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars One word-Awesome!
It's a awesome magazine and it's not a superficel magazine but it has too much on guys and how to get them. But there's advice, cool new fashions, and much, much more! At first my mom did't like it but then she liked it when I told her about it and how I was getting older. I bet she's glad that I don't I don't read crap like J-14 and Bop. I love this mag, but Teen is my fav, but this mag comes in second. It's a grown-up version of Discovery Girls and cooler than American Girl! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Earn a Don't Read Boys' Life Merit Badge
I haven't touched this magazine in over a decade.I used to read it every time I got an issue in my parents' mailbox.Of course, by read, I mean I would skip through the articles that taught me nothing and head over to the comics.Dink and Duff were my favorite, although not laugh-out-loud funny.I recently skimmed through Webelos Woody, The Tracy Twins, Peewee Harris, and the sometimes hilarious Pedro. When I was even younger, I used to spend a *lot* of time perusing the junk pages, where you could order 8 pranks for the price of a dollar or something.

Now, as an alternative, I highly recommend going through the Boy Scout Handbooks with your kids. The Cub Scout handbooks are just as interesting as the Boy Scout ones, and they actually teach you about health, staying fit, learning knots, Fire safety, backpacking/camping tips, etc.

I don't know how the modern Boys' Life compares to the old issues, but it seems like it's fallen for the same virus as every other magazine I've stopped ordering: advertisements.

1-0 out of 5 stars If there was an option for zero stars this would earn it!
This magazine is inundated with advertising. The few articles that do exist are saturated with trend ideals and sparcely include the moral values that the Boy Scout organization is said to imply. I am disappointed that the BS organization is willing to be associated with such junk, and supports yet another venue for exploiting funds from its particpants.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible
Boys Life Sucks. I am in Boy scouts and I still get this stupid Magaziene. I thought thay only gave it to Cub Scouts. It is so lame. There is no good articals in it and the comics are for losers. I threw all of them out. I think it should stop. It should be called Girls life. If you are a Boy Scout or Cub Scout I sugest you throw the crappy magizienes out. If you are not a cub scout of boy scout dont get this crap. ... Read more

it's a realy cool magazine that makes learning fun.It gives you cool and fun facts

1-0 out of 5 stars I'm going to say it again
The previous reviews have said it all...but it can't hurt to say it again...this magazine is a waste...it is filled with jokes, ads and animals frequently dressed up in silly outfits.SO SO SO disappointing because I am a huge National Geographic fan.For those who want a good quality magazine for their children, subscribe to ASK Magazine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty cool
If you want a magazine that has a lot of interesting articles this is the magazine for you. It has some things that come in all the issues like (lame) jokes and a bunch of facts. It also has some news stories and most issues try to get you to watch something exciting on the National Geographic Channel. Mostly this is a decent kids magazine with nothing bad or inappropriat but actually manages to still be quite fun to read ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Magazine
Last fall, I picked up an issue of "Discovery Girls" at Kroger. After skimming a few pages, I decided that it was worth a try, and asked my mom if she would buy it for me.I read through the entire magazine in one night, and enjoyed it very much!I bought a couple more issues after that until I finally decided that I just needed to get a subscription.I ordered at an off-time, so I ended up having to wait a couple months until I got my first issue. But boy, was it worth it!You can just imagine my excitement when I came home from playing outside and found an issue of "Discovery Girls" waiting for me!

Contained in each "Discovery Girls" magazine are:

- Information about this issue's real life "Discovery Girls".If you find that the "Discovery Girls" company is coming to your state soon, and you are between the age of eight and twelve, you could be one, too!"Discovery Girls" get to have fun and hang out together, model for pictures that will be featured in the magazine, possibly try out a new product, and spend a day at someplace fun, ranging from a salon to "Build-A-Bear Workshop".Two girls are chosen to be cover models.

- Articles giving helpful advice about things such as friendship, jealousy, getting along with siblings, and more.Unlike most magazines, "Discovery Girls" actually gives GOOD advice that will really help you with your problems. And besides the longer articles, there is also a section called "Ask Ali", where you can send in a letter to "Ali", and possibly receive an answer in a later issue.

- Plenty of room for you to speak, whether it be sharing advice with fellow readers, telling an embarassing moment, voicing your opinion about a certain topic, telling a fictional story, sharing something shocking that really happened to you, or asking questions and giving ideas to the editors.

- Lots of cool quizzes! Some are just for fun, but others can teach you a little bit about yourself. For example, featured in the most recent issue are the quizzes: "Are You a Drama Queen?", "Case Closed!" (Are you too quick to judge people?), "Which Star Could Be Your BFF?", and "What's Your Trollz Style?" ("Trollz" is a product). They are entertaining, nicely-illustrated quizzes that you will be giving to your friends.

- Sports advice.A new sport is featured each issue. Some past ones have been basketball, softball, track, and I think volleyball.I personally never read the sports advice, since dance is the only sport that I am involved in at the moment. But if "dance" is ever mentioned, I'll read every little word and detail!

- Celebrity pages.Want to know more about a celebrity?Maybe find out just how much you already know about them?Celebrity pages (ranging from quizzes involving them to interviews) are featured frequently in "Discovery Girls".

- Craft ideas, one or two comics, occasionally something along the lines of a word search, and more, meaning more fun!The crafts are unique, too! They're not all just "scissors and paper" crafts. One in particular was REALLY cute!It was making cute snack-size treats for your mom on Mother's Day.

- Opportunities to learn more about other countries and cultures. In each issue, one girl from each country is interviewed, tells a little about her life, what she likes to eat, what music she listens to, and some other things, and then there are facts such as "things that make that country unique", and "the traditional way to dress in that country".This month's country was India!

- Chances to win cool stuff, and advertisements for new books, movies, toys, clothes, and much more. There are also website names featured in certain areas, so that girls who love to surf the web and do online shopping will never get bored.

If that doesn't convince you that "Discovery Girls" is a great magazine, then it isn't the magazine for you.But I love it, and I can't wait to get my next issue!

Notes to parents:

A new issue of "Discovery Girls" comes every two months.

Some slightly older-girl content is featured in certain issues (such as "Which Bra is Right for You?").So be aware that bras and boys ARE talked about occasionally. But also be aware that there is no profanity, crude language, or anything else of the sort.

1-0 out of 5 stars PERFECT For 8-11 year olds
I'm 13 and i think that this magazine is the "grown-up" version of American Girl but is still too babyish and boring for preteens, so 12-15 year olds try Girl's Life,it's sooooo much bettter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars SAVE OUR TWEENS
I would like to applaud you on your magazine's target audience. There were no magazines for girls my age when I was a pre-teen.I'm glad that you addressed the ongoing problem of mean girls and girls growing up too fast.I recently submitted an article on both of those subjects to my writing work shop, and it was well received. Please let me know if it would be all right to mail you a sample of my writing. Because I remember what it was like to be a child, I think that I can share some valuable ideas with young readers.Angela Tanzi ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
One word does it!

I loved it as a child, my daughter loves it.Your child will to!

5-0 out of 5 stars Helped Foster My Love and Respect for Animals
(...)

Living in the country as I did, I saw plenty wild animals in my backyard (squirrels, raccoons, possums..), but armed with Ranger Rick, I was able to appreciate and see them up close with out being bit, scratched, mauled, or hauled off to the emergency room for rabies shots!

Besides the wonderful animal features, there were projects, games, and activities to keep me and my brother busy. The concepts put forth in each issue emphasized recycling, kindness to animals, and conservation -- values and beliefs I carry with me almost 30 years after the fact.

So whether you live on a farm, the suburbs, or the city, Ranger Rick would be a wonderful gift for your child. It will help foster a life long love and respect for animals, as well as reinforce key values (conservation, recycling, etc.).A few things have changed over the past 30 years, but Ranger Rick is still consistantly a good magazine.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ranger Rots!

4-0 out of 5 stars BEST AROUND
I GOT THIS MAGAZINE FOR A LITTLE KID WHO I KNOW.
THE KID LOVES THE MAGAZINE TO DEATH
THE BEST PART OF THIS MAGAZINE IS THERE ARE
NO ADS. SO THE KIDS STAY FOCUS ON THE ARTICLE OF THE MAGAZINE
THERE ARE SO MANY TOPICS THAT THEY HAVE.
I'M GLAD I FOUND THE BACK ISSUES.
GREAT LEARNING TOOL FOR KIDS
GREAT FOR PROJECTS AND HOMEWORK
EVENIF I DID NOT HAVE A HOOK UP WITH THE ISSUES
I WOULD STILL BUY THIS MAGAZINE FOR KIDS
THE MAGAZINE IS ABOUT 20 PAGES LONG

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best educational mag's I've found
I bought this for my children and was surprised to find my husband and myself reading it as well. Not only did it come in handy for homework, but the old issues have been saved and used in projects, papers, homework and even by the teachers! I have five children, so they have had alot of exposure to diffirent age levels and have always proven usful. Some of the teachers were excited because this subscription was one that they wished that they could get every year as part of their class materials.
As an added point, while on vacation, we have spotted the back issues on sale in gift shops for as much as four ninety nine $4.99. These were issues that contained stories about the particular historic event, etc that they thought informative enough to sale.
You can't go wrong with this one!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome

5-0 out of 5 stars We keep renewing!
This is a great magazine for preschool/early elementary kids.We have renewed it twice and enjoy watching our son learn more with each issue. The editors do a great job of publishing intersting and unique facts about many different kids of animals.

1-0 out of 5 stars RIP OFF!!!!
I ordered a subscription for my step-son and a gift for a niece at the same time. They took my money and both of the ONE-YEAR subscriptions I paid for only resulted in ONE ISSUE to each child.I couldn't get any more information on the magazine, as we never received any more informaiton until I got an e-mail from Amazon asking me to renew.

I noticed another recent post with the same problem. The magazine was really great, and my step-son and niece both waited and waited for their next issue which never showed.

How disappointing.I wouldn't take the chance if I were you.

5-0 out of 5 stars We Love It and The Company Solved Our Subscription Problem
My son has loved this magazine and is in his third year as a subscriber. He loves getting an interesting magazine in the mail each month.I love that it has good emergent reader level content this is focused so that different bits of content throughout the magazine reinforce the same concepts. My son especially loves the mini-books that come in each magazine and we generally have to make those as soon as they come.

As an educator, I love that the content is at the right level and that it is actually educational in contrast to some magazines. This magazine is reasonably priced and still has NO advertising.I am so thankful that the publishers have made that decision and I will keep subscribing to this until it is time to move up to Ranger Rick.

I did have to sort out a problem with the publisher because we had recieved two gift subscriptions.I called and they were able to make the two subscriptions run back to back, so instead of two magazines each month, we have two years of subscription and they assure me that whenever it is time to move to Ranger Rick, we can apply any unused Big Backyard to the Ranger Rick subscription. They were very polite to me and solved my problem efficiently. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars *Um,I'm 12.It's okay but....*
...It can be weak. About 1\4 of the magazine is ads, and the other is crude humor. I'm mean Ilike jokes and all, but there is way too much! Since I'm getting older, I'm reading GL,Teen,Discovery Girls, and AG. But I like this mag. It has it's uppoints: Celeb Chats, weird facts, a calendar for what's happening that month. It also tells when new nick shows are, which is cool. It's more for 8-11 range but I like it. But I'm probably gonna stop getting it soon.I seriously hoped I helped, and this mag is great for kids. Thanks, and bye!

4-0 out of 5 stars it was cool
It had very interesting facts that i would have most likely never heard about. Also, the pictures where usually pretty cool, like theworld's biggest tumor. EWWW, but thats not the point. Its the fact that there are so many things in this world that we never heard about that are most likely to be found in this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book
This is worth the money. It contains everything you could imagine and is very informative and interesting read. Its fun to read about the new technologys and records in the world. The cover and all the pictures inside are also impressive. I recomend this book to anyone who has a curious mind. Cover of book is cool.

4-0 out of 5 stars INFORMATIVE AND PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!
The hardback edition of this book is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen! As for the contents, well, they're exceptional. It covers world records in sports, human endurance, nature, movies, tv, music, human achievement, and more. Who is the oldest living person? Find out in this book. What is the fastest speed attained by a jet? Find out in this informative publication. Who really has had the most gold records by a single male performer? All you have to do is get this book, and you'll know. There's loads of colorful pictures, and on pages that are made of good stock. The book is a trivia buffs dream. Other books I would recommend for trivia buffs, are The World Almanac, and the ESPN Sports Almanac. All three are superb. If you want to know what the world records are for an array of topics, please get this insightful publication. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh what fun it is to spy...
If you're familiar with the I Spy series, you know what to expect in this book. If you're new to the world of I Spy, imagine staring in your fully stocked refrigerator looking for the Philly cream cheese. You know it's there - you just bought it yesterday - but for the life of you, you can't find it. Then your spouse comes by, reaches around you and grabs the tub from beside the two-liter bottle of Pepsi. I Spy is just like that: you know what you're looking for, you know it's in the picture somewhere, and some clown is bound to come by and find it immediately after you've been searching for a half an hour. That's why I recommend letting your spouse have first crack at the pictures. It makes your finding the specified objects a breeze.

The thirteen hide-and-seek pictures in the book all have - as you might suspect from the title - a Christmas theme. There's Santa's workshop, assorted sugar cookies and Christmas tree ornaments, shop window displays, and an arrangement of dolls and stuffed animals that looks a lot like something from the movie, E.T. Most images are set as cheerful tableaus, but several are avant garde arrangements of knickknacks, doodads, and Christmas goodies.

The riddles are challenging, not because they're cryptic but because they have you searching all over the page to find what you're looking for. I find it helpful to work on two or three elements from the riddle at a time. If you're looking for an ice cube, a twist of lime and a carrot-nose all at the same time you're bound to run into one of the three sooner or later. Plus it cuts down on the frustrating "ooh, I just saw that ... where'd it go?" moments. Once you've exhausted the riddles - and that should take a while - it's good to find a friend and play "I spy with my little eye something that begins with...." The pages are jam-packed with everything from angels to zebras, so you'll never run out of things to spy.

There are only a couple drawbacks to the book. First, the glare from the glossy paper can make it difficult to find anything on the page if the lighting isn't right. Second, there's no answer key. It's left to your own judgment as to whether you've found what you're looking for. There are times when you'll be looking for an object, say a jingle bell on the "Holly & Ivy" page, and you'll see something that looks less unlike a jingle bell than anything else on the page, but you're left wondering if you've actually found it or not. Granted, there are those who'd start with the answer page and fake their spying prowess, but for honorable souls there's no option to solemnly swear you've tried your best and then sneak a peek at the answers. Oh well, I guess it's time to let my wife have a look.

The pictures in the I Spy books are as incredible to look at as they are to search for the hidden-in-plain-sight objects. I Spy Christmas is an excellent choice to add to your collection or to start one with. Enjoy!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for me!
For those people acquainted with I Spy books, you know that there is one item that appears on each picture page.Unfortunately, in the Fun House book, the recurring item is a pair of clown-dolls.Call me crazy, but those clowns are downright freaky and they frightened me!They are peering out at you from all sorts of the places and they gave me the creeps.I had intended to give this book as a gift to my 8-year-old son, but couldn't follow through.I just couldn't handle those clowns and didn't know how my kids would react.Again, maybe it's just me, but I can't recommend this book.Sorry if you think I'm a wimp, but if there are others like me, I wouldn't buy this book for your kids.
I recommend I Spy Fantasy and I Spy School Days.
Thanks.

Editorial Review

Can you spy "a tortoise, a hare, a tea bag, a key/ a clock, and a flag on a house in a tree"? It's not easy--but readers of all ages will have a whole lot of fun trying. With more than a dozen I Spy picture books under their belts, including I Spy Gold Challenger, the award-winning photographer/riddler team of Walter Wick and Jean Marzollo are masters of their art form. And in Treasure Hunt, they've outdone themselves. Readers search for subtly hidden objects on every beautifully composed and photographed page. At first glance the setting seems like any other quaint seaside town. Take a second look and discover that it's in fact a very realistic model, with giant pencil erasers filling truck beds and gargantuan pennies nestled among the boulders of an island. The result is stunning, a surrealistic adventure.

Children will love to pursue the mystery of the pirate's hidden treasure, narrowing their search with every delightfully cluttered page. Looking for an additional challenge? Try the extra-credit riddles. For the inspired reader, Wick and Marzollo also include pages on how to create I Spy riddles and pictures. (Ages 3 to 8) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars If You Love This Book
This book is as much fun for adults as it is for children. It doesn't play down to children but gives them credit for being intelligent observing beings. If you love this book, you will also love Walter Wick's "Can You See What I See - Dream Machine", with the same inventive search and find, and a story line that's not spelled out, but one you discover as you work your way through every wonderful photograph.

5-0 out of 5 stars to the person looking for the seashell

The seashell is a mussel shell, blue, and it is below the opening in the wall. It is between a dusty jar and bottle, sitting on what look like old dead leaves.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun!
My ten year old son introduced me to this fun little book (OK, it's big, but thin.), which he has been looking at for several years now. It has fourteen, two-page sized pictures of a collection of odds and ends connected with school. At the bottom of each of them is a list of things that you can look for (sort of like, Where is Waldo). But, read through to the end, there is a riddle about someone you'll find in each of the pictures.

This is a fun book. It challenges the young reader to concentrate on what is actually on the page, and pick out certain select items. I like that my son reads it for fun, even as the book is teaching him to concentrate and search systematically. He loves this book, and so do I. We both highly recommend this book to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Books
This is great! Also, in the "Be My Valentine" page, there's one that you should look for- a queen. It took me hours!Recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly well done
Children of all ages (adults too!) will find something to enjoy in these pages -- the young ones just looking at the absorbing pictures and the older ones searching for the myriad of items hidden within each scene.

The scenes are each a two page photograph filled with many objects that revolve around a certain theme, from the alphabet to a town of blocks to a wooden marble machine that actually works (see the last pages for a note on this). At the bottom of each scene is a riddle to tell the searcher what he or she is looking for and to provide clues. Some of the objects are easy to find, some are impossibly difficult!

And for those of you who reach the end of the book and wish it wasn't over ... it doesn't have to be. There are additional riddles on the last pages so you can enjoy the pictures all over again.

Highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good!
I bought this for my two year old and he loves it.He knows where all the pictures are ( he did before we left the store) an he still sits there with it in front of him for long peroids of time.I am trying to get the whole set.I don't know how many are in the set though and I was hoping that there would be some place where you could buy them in a complete set.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect size for families on the go!
A smaller version of the full sized I Spy books, these books are just great. They include cropped pictures from the regular I Spy books and are printed on durable cardboard - just right for little hands!

My two year old loves this collection of books - they are just the right size for her to hold, are sturdy enough for her to play with, and there are lots of interesting pictures to hold her attention.

The pictures are lots of fun to look at. They give parents the opportunity to sit with their children and discover the different things in the pictures and to help their children identify them.

These are all very good books!! I highly recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Way to Teach Observation Skills
These board books are a smaller and simpler version of the original "I Spy" series. If you are not familiar with the "I Spy" series, the basic concept is similar to "Where's Waldo" in that you "search" for specific objects. But in this case, the searching field is a series of photographs that depict varied and interesting items. Each photograph has a particular theme and is full of colorful and inventive objects.

The original "I Spy" books ask you to find many objects in each photo and can be very challenging. My husband and I got a kick out of finding the objects ourselves and by no means breezed through the books. These simplified board books are geared toward a much younger audience--they offer toddlers and younger children a way to play the same type of game. The photographs contain only a handful of objects, and the reader is asked to find only two objects per page.

My daughter really enjoys these types of interactive books. They give her a chance to be "proud" when she finds whatever she's looking for. There is also a similar series I would recommend called "Find the Duck (Puppy, Piglet, Kitten, Teddy)..." books. In the "Find the..." series the child is looking for the same object throughout the book..If you are interested, I wrote a review on that series where I go into more detail about them.

Overall, these are a nice way to interact with your toddler--they offer an opportunity to teachpatience and to carefully investigate things. My only criticism is that I noticed that the photos that they use are just blown up portions of photos taken from their original series.I wish they would be more creative and use entirely new photos. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I loved it!
I bought one of the I Spy books while on vacation in America. It was intended for the kids next door, and eventually I gave it to them (after having gone through it myself.) I liked it so much I ordered more from Amazon. com, some for me, some for Christmas presents. But the books have been so much enjoyed by my family I doubt whether they'll make Christmas. I can't find the sixth safety pin on the page with all the kitchen stuff, beautifully arranged like a sci-fi scene.Where is the errant
safety pin?How our eyes deceive us!I only found 4 small candles in the Sweet Shoppe, where are the others?

Mommy & Daddy like it also so we have to have this in our collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Creepy
When I tried to donate this book to a local library, the children screamed. No way were they going to give up their spooky looking book, with lots of riddle limmericks and hunt-and-find fun to keep them busy into the wee hours. Betcha can't find all the candles and cobwebs, spiders and witches' brew in this year-round Halloween gem. Alyssa A. Lappen
