great magazine
This is a great magazine , much better than the english version, thier edition "50 bellos" , is the best. They really know how to pick beautiful people. The latest edition of "most beautiful" in english is really disappointing. I suggest People en Espanol, el mas mejor.

Aprender entonces leer
I must admit that I got hooked on this magazine after seeing a tiny picture of Juanes on the cover.I love his music and I wanted to know more about his life.My subscription started too late for his famous cover shot! ¡Que lastima! I missed several issues because they were sold out at the hispanic tiendas.

If you are learning español and you don't bother to learn the pop culture(s) of modern day Latin America you are not making the grade! In the office, our hispanic customers appreciate my interest in the popular entertainers from their countries. Textbooks have gotten better, but People En Español is always current. The grammar, vocabulary and reading practice will greatly improve your comprehension and you'll actually do it because it is fun and interesting.

I only have one minor complaint. I wish the Disfrútalo section would cover more films made by Spanish directors and featuring Spanish actors.Award-winning and nominated films made in Spanish aren't covered often enough and with enough depth.I would have loved to have seen a feature article on The Sea Inside or Maria Full of Grace.

WORST SERVICE/CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
I WAS SUBSCRIBED FOR A YEAR WHICH ENDED LAST MONTH, I ONLY RECEIVED 2 ISSUES, CALLED MANY TIMES TO COMPLAIN AND NO FAVORABLE ANSWER. OTHER MAGAZINES I ORDERED ARRIVED WELL. I WILL SAY WORST SERVICE, WORST CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, WORST SERVICE, AMAZON SHOULDN'T HAVE AS A PRODUCT.

Vocabulary builder, but not your father's Reader's Digest
A reluctant "thumbs up"(the other one is helping to hold my nose)...

Reader's Digest used to be a rather conservative offering, but now has undergone several recent transformations, resulting in something designed to compete with "Us" or "People", as evidenced by the now-standard kiss-up softball fluff piece to this or that Hollywood celebrity, nearly all airheaded pinko lefties. This from the once staunchly anti-Soviet/anti-communist magazine.

That being said, I've reluctantly continued my subscription for 10yrs., because it is a good vocabulary builder. NOTE: have plenty of dictionaries handy! Whoever translates the article may call it what it's called in Venezuela & not Colombia. The world "regazo"("lap"[i.e., a place to sit] in Eng.) is common in the magazine, but my (Venezuelan) master's degree tutor & her PhD (Mexican) gal pal had never heard of the word! (They say "piernas"[legs] which conjures up a humorous image to the native speaker of Eng.).

Whatever. Back issues are hard to find, sadly, because these'd be a treasure. Mexico's version of eBay, perhaps.

That the articles are different is prob'ly a matter of demographics(as applies to advertising)/audience appeal/simple editorial preferences. Yes, I too thought I'd simply place the Eng. & Span. editions side-by-side & have the translations spoon fed to me, but this isn't the case.

Also, not all editions in Spanish are available to US addresses! Forget it if you want the magazine that's printed/distributed in Spain!

I was also very disappointed to learn that the Spanish version of Reader's Digest does not cover the same articles as the English version. My wife' primary laguage is Spanish and I also was hoping to discuss the articles that we would read in the publication. Can anyone give us the reason for the decision by the company not to have mirror versions in English and Spanish? ... Read more

not bad
I ordered this and got it 2 or 3 months later. you get 8 issues a year. so every two months you get a mag. It has beauty, tv, music & movie news, fashion, interviews, recipes and more. This magazine is mature and well put together. It's more for females than it is for males. you can read it in spanish and english. I also recommend Latina magazine. ... Read more

Vital and authoritive magazine about Latino Culture!
Wow!What an amazing magazine about every facet of US Hispanic culture (and every Latino country represented in the the US!) presented in an interesting and important format by award-winning writers (Ana Acle won a Pulitzer Prize).It's like the New Yorker Magazine for Hispanics!Filled with regular editorial sections such as:Culture (Hispanic literature, movies, music and art), Career advice and tips, Latino politics,a great calendar section filled with Latino events happening across the country!

great regional business resource
if you don't do business in Latin America or the Caribbean (nor want to), this magazine is useless.If you do, though, it's the only place to get complete business news across all industries...kind of like a monthly Businessweek focused on the region that will soon be a hemispheric free trade zone.The magazine is very newsy, covering latest developments in finance, shipping, import/export, manufacturing, hi-tech, agriculture, you name it...highly recommend it. ...
