5-0 out of 5 stars Instant bonding with your baby
My 5 month old daughter and I LOVE this book. I started reading this as a bedtime book to her at around 3 months. It is the only book she will lie in my arms still and listen contently. I read it in a low, whispery voice. At the end we just sit in the nursery rocker and just stare at each other, both smiling. I get teary everytime. It will also be a good "name the animal" book when she gets older.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Son LOVES this book
My son is 15 months old and adores this book.He gets it read to him every night and when he spends the night at Grandma's house we have to take it.He loves pointing at the animals and trying to say what they are (he can say horse but the others he has a little trouble). When my husband reads it to him he just changes it from mommy to daddy and the book still reads wonderfully.I would recommend this book to any new parents and in fact just bought it as a baby shower gift for my sister.Great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars We love "I Love You As Much..."
This book is one of my son's favorites at bed time. He loves the pictures and likes it when I substitute other members of the family for "mommy" ("Said the daddy horse to his Alex..." or "...Now sleep little Al, while the stars shine above, Grandma loves you as much as a Grandma can love...".I ask him "Who is it tonight?" and he will name a family member (most often it is still mommy).Such a sweet book. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Don't we have more than 10 minutes to spend with our kids???
come on, guys...can't we spend more than ten minutes each night to read to our children? especially classic books! why not just read ten minutes of the ACTUALbook to the kids so they can truly savor the piece as it was meant to be read. i cannot recommend a book that takes time away from children just so adults can selfishly have more time to work out, pay the bills, etc.this is a book definitely not worth it.

3-0 out of 5 stars useful?
This book has a one chapter from different stories. so it really doesnt' give you 101 stories, it is one chapter from a story. so you are left not knowing what happens next. which I guess woudl be good to find out your children's interests.. maybegood library book but not to buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars It will make you read 101 books!
This book is great for those people who are trying to find a good book to read. There are chapters from some of the most-loved classic novels like Little Women. Some of the tales are short stories like the Elephant'sChild. This book made me read most of the 101 classics. It is very goodas a gift, also. This book is worth all your monery! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Both of my nieces loved this one--a fun little book!
Animal Kisses is a cute little touch and feel book that will bring enjoyment to a variety of ages. Each 2-page layout features a different type of colorfully illustrated animal, and part of each animal is textured for the reader to feel. For example, the cat page asks "Do you like scratchy cat kisses?," and the cat's tongue is a sandpaper-like material.Other textures include smooth, sticky, velvety, and even squeaky for the pig (although, like other reviewers have said, you do have to press the pig's nose just right in order to get it to squeak). My 3-year old niece loved reading the book and was able to tell me which kisses were her favorites, and even my 1-year old niece enjoyed touching the pages. This is a fun, cute little book that is appropriate for both younger and older toddlers; highly recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pig squeaker aside, this book is still cute
I've had the same issues as other reviewers regarding the pig's squeaker: You really need to poke it just right (and hard) for it to squeak. My son (15 months) has trouble making it squeak all by himself, and so it can be somewhat frustrating for him.

That being said, he really enjoys the book. He enjoys touching each of the different textured "mouths" with his finger, and then proceeds to give sloppy kisses to each of the animals. That's a lot of spit, but the book is holding up fine so far (I quickly wipe off the page with his blankie or something else when he's done smooching it).

If your child is really into animals, I think this book is a good choice. There aren't a lot of words on each page (only about three to five), but even without words to read, the pictures of animals can still capture your kid's imagination and lead to lessons about animal sounds and faces.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I bought this book for my soon-to-be-born nephew.
First off, the book arrived with the squeaker broken. Second, the book's material is not drool and mouth-proof - my 2-year-old bookworm would make mincemeat out of it in no time. Third, the text is very uninspiring and the cutouts to 'touch' are quite small for little fingers which don't have much dexterity.

I am returning the book due to the broken squeaker but have asked for a refund instead of a replacement, I will find something more captivating than this book for my nephew. It is not worth the expensive price tag. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

A charming gift for expectant parents, Oh Baby, the Places You'll Go is designed to be an in utero introduction to the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss.Adapted from his works, and touching on them all from Horton to Who-ville, author Tish Rabe has maintained Seuss's style perfectly. Your baby is the unnamed star of the book, and reading directly to your tummy becomes easy with lines like "the words I am saying you hear in your heart, and know that I wish you the very best start." Filled with the good doctor's whimsical illustrations, you'll find all your favorite characters, with a short rhyme that mentions each one--and just enough direct quotations to get those infants stimulated when you read Seuss's whole books to them at a later date. --Jill Lightner ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Oh, Baby, the Places You'll Go!
I love The Places You'll Go! and when I saw this book, I grabbed it for my daughter in law.I believe reading to a child is one of the most important things that can be done to prepare them for what lies ahead. What a great way to begin, while still in Utero. The sound of a familar voice and the beginning of a special time between child and parent (or grandparen't, sibling, etc.) that will hopefully continue through their life.I don't always care for Dr. Seuss, but this is a book that speaks from the heart. The book is smaller than most, but then it's for in Utero!

5-0 out of 5 stars This was the sweetest pregnancy gift I received ...
This makes a perfect gift for the mother-to-be ... whether this is her first baby or fifth! It is a lovely way to get dad reading to the baby.As it says on the cover "a book to be read in utero".I swear my baby responded. It is darling ... and a MUST HAVE for that special pregnant woman in your life.It makes a perfect "congratulations on your pregnancy" gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book
This book is so wonderful. My mom bought this for me when I first found out I was pregnant with my son. My husband would read it to the baby all the time and it made it a wonderful family bonding time.

Now that my best friend is going to have a baby I am going to pass a long the tradition of having this book to read to the baby before it is born. And I know she is gonna love it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon deleted my review!
I gave this set of books 1 star but should be giving it 0! Amazon deleted my review, so here it is again, in a more concise manner.

    1) Books for numbers 6 and 9 are the same. No reply from publisher when I attempted to contact them 3 time via emails.
    2) The last page of all number books end with candles, that is 1/4 of all the number books. I feel shortchanged!
    3) books are flimpsy at the spine. Baby managed to tear one.

Question: Does Amazon delete bad reviews? Maybe that's why I haven't seen candid and truthful reviews!

5-0 out of 5 stars 4 months and still going strong
I bought these for my daughter not knowing how much she would love them. Granted, she is only 11 months, but like the other reviews have said, the books are small enough to fit in her hands. She carries them EVERYWHERE! She even sleeps with a book or two. I love the colors, and the texture as well. With some board books, my daughter has gotten paper cuts, weird I thought. But not from these! They are awesome. I had just bought the ABC ones to start with but now I am getting the learning ones too.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best first birthday present ever!
My daughter received this for her first birthday. At first she loved reading the little books - which are sized perfectly for a toddler's chubby little hands. After a couple of months she became obsessed with stacking things and would spend time every day stacking and re-stacking the books. They are shaped just right for a young toddler to stack, and are much less frustrating than square blocks.

At about 18 months she got into colors and numbers and loved to sort the books by color and count them. Now at 21 months she is STILL playing with this toy - long after every other first birthday gift went to the attic or the thrift store. And the books and the box are still in great shape - this has to be the sturdiest toy we've ever owned.

I now give this box of books to every one year old I know.I can't say enough wonderful things about this toy! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Admittedly, we sometimes become oversentimental about motherhood. But in a climate of rampant cynicism and family disintegration, stories about maternal love, courage, devotion, and triumph can be immensely comforting and inspiring. Contributors such as Dave Barry, Barbara Bush, Reba McIntire, Erma Bombeck, and Joan Rivers offer celebrity appeal. But even more heart coddling are the stories by everyday women, sharing their intimate experiences about becoming a mother, almost losing a child, discovering miracles, and honoring the wisdom of grandmothers. Mothers of all ages will appreciate this book as a gift to themselves or as a gift to a beloved mom. But get out your handkerchiefs, the editors showed no restraint when it came to including tearjerkers. --Gail Hudson ... Read more

These stories will touch your heart. I laughed and I cried throughout this book. I absolutely love the Chicken Soup collection. Each book never fails to provide wonderful stories. Appreciate being a mother when you read these stories... be glad you don't have all the tribulations. Or, be comforted in knowing you are not the only one in your situation.

5-0 out of 5 stars highly recommended
If you've ever been a mother or a daughter this book is definately for you. The stories will make you laugh and cry and, best of all, you'll recognize yourself in many of the pages.
This book is one of my favorites. It's a real treasure.Five stars! Debbie Farmer, parenting author of 'Don't Put Lipstick on the Cat'

5-0 out of 5 stars A must read for all women
I received my first Chicken Soup book from my father six years back and since then there has been no stopping. I continue to be a voracious reader of these lovely series. I have recommended them to many of my friends too.

Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul is one book which I feel all women must read irrespective of whether they have arrived at the threshold of motherhood or not. Heart-warming stories, personal experiences, and moving tales comprise this book, which will on more than one occassion make you grab a tissue and wipe your moist eyes. The illustrations in this book are hilarious too. As you read this book, you shall reflect upon the happiness and pain of your own relationship with your mother. One of the finest and sweetest books you can gift to your near and dear ones. They will always thank you for this book.

I shall take the liberty of quoting one of the proverbs in this book.
"God cannot be everywhere so He made mothers."

There...I rest my case. Nothing further needs to be said in honor of this exquisite book. ... Read more
