4-0 out of 5 stars Best of the best...
Ithink I like this teen magazine the best of all the teen magazines. It wasn't trashy and focused a lot on clothes and fashion.Which I love.It also had other things typical ofteen magazines but it is a lot classier in its function.I think this magazine also delves into your inner-self and not so much about how you look (fat, skinny, curvy) but that you can look great no matter what your body shape is long as you love yourself.I think this magazine is worth subscribing to.

5-0 out of 5 stars VERY GOOD MAGAZINE... REVIEW FROM A teen
This is a great magazine. Every single one of my friends likes cosmo girl. I really like it because it talks about issues, but also has quizzes, celebrities and personal stories. It is my favorite magazine. Every single page is exciting for me. It also shows clothing and models that are not only zero size. They are normal. I think any one who wants to read about issues and have some fun, while reading about celebrities should read this magazine.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible.
When I saw the latest cover of this magazine saying: "Find your own style" and "REAL LIFE DRAMA - He stole my lottery ticket!" I knew I just had to write a review. Now, I once bought this magazine every single month for a few years. So yes, I have read it. And I am here to warn you and your teenage kids. Do NOT buy this, for Christ's sake! It's terrible. It ruins any form of individudality. It makes you feel depressed and ruins your self worth. Please don't give in to this. Sure, if you want to be a highly unintelligent bimbo that has no god damn life, read this all you want. I just think it's sad... This magazine has no purpose or whatsoever, other than making young girls feel like they NEED to buy all the "beauty products" and all that crap. I can't hate this magazine enough. Surely, all the other teen girl magazines are probably the exact same. This just happened to be the one I fell for, back in the days. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Magazine, but missing something...
The InStyle Magazine is a very good magazine whether you are into style or are hopelessly trying to understand the definition of the word.I will give InStyle this:they do not just cater to the Oscar-rich type stylish people. They also cater to the not-so-rich stylish people, and even if you are not as rich as the not-so-rich folks, you can take the basic principles in the magazine and go garage-saleing in style. You really can. Why?Because they usually look at every celebrity they're featuring and break down their method of style, from hair to makeup to clothing. The reason I say it is missing something is because they don't really give you the meat and potatoes. They don't really tell you HOW to apply the makeup or HOW to do the hair. They just give you basic guidelines, like what hairstyle and makeup looks good with what face type and what style of clothing best flatters what body type.If you're looking for ideas, subscribe. If you're looking for the HOW, don't bother.

There is plenty of articles about traveling style, Oscar/Red Carpet style, party style... all the styles you can imagine. The issues are usually thick, although you only get 10 per year.It is a feast for the eyes, but again, for the know-how specifics, it falls short.

If you are interested in just learning the basics of style, such as what clothing article looks most flattering for your body type or how to buy your clothing to ensure quality, or how to care for your clothing, I would highly recommend their book: InStyle: the Secrets of Style. There might be better books out there, but I haven't run into any.Once they cover the basics, the go step-by-step style, for each article of clothing. It is not a bad investment at all.If you pair their book with a subscription to their magazine, you are likely to develop a sense of style if you don't have one, and you'll become much more confident in developing your own style without having to depend on what others think is stylish.

Last thing:I like to collect clothing catalogs like Spiegel or Victoria's Secret or Eddie Bauer or companies that I am more likely to buy my clothing from in addition to reading InStyle. That way, I can come up with my own style using the articles of clothing that are actually available from my clothing retailer without having to go way out of my league to get a specific look or dress.

5-0 out of 5 stars Instyle Is InCredible
If your looking for the ins and outs of celebrity fashion and lifestyle, this magazine has it all. It has great photographs of your favorite stars (and what they're wearing), interesting articles, and fantastic fashion and beauty tips. I look forward to reading this magazine every month!

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Subscription
I subscribe to a ton of magazines, and this is definitely my favorite. If you are looking for in-depth articles on different issues, subscribe to Vanity Fair (another great magazine). But, if you are looking for lots of celebrities, lots of fashion and beauty, and great tips, this is for you. What I like most is that it doesn't have all of those stupid articles on how to have sex, or how to trap and keep a man (i.e. Cosmopolitan). I think we all got past that content in high school? INSTYLE is a great buy!

1-0 out of 5 stars Good Housekeeping
Good Housekeeping does not send a notice to the person receiving the subscription in a timly manner. It shouldn't take 2 to 3 weeks to receive notification.

1-0 out of 5 stars Boring and full of ads!
My Dad bought this magazine for my mom and I usually pick up the copies to browse them. That is all both my mom in her fifties and I in my twenties do browse it as it is a joke.It is not that special it is chucked full of ads.The cover stories are dull and boring and many of the articles you would want to read have about one paragraph good information.I find this magazine a waste of our money. It will not be getting renewed at the end of the subscription. My mom has already stated that.

5-0 out of 5 stars More a community than a magazine

4-0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile for diet and nutrition newbies
WW magazine is one of the best for those wanting sound and sensible advice on adopting a healhty lifestyle. The articles are well written and accessible, though at times a bit on the basic side. It's perfect for the clueless or confused and frustrated with all the diet hoopla.

My only complaint is that I do wonder at times if the recipes are actually tested before publication.Sometimes, the technique used is inappropriate and renders an inedible product to my taste.I must admit I'm a foodie, and love to cook and bake, and am probably pickier than most.Be forewarned, and read through recipes before proceeding is my suggestion. You may choose to execute the recipes differently to get a better texture or alter the spices and herbs to add more flavor.

I have lost 43 pounds with the WW meetings program, and have found the magazine helpful, motivational, and inspiring.I'd encourage a subscription for anyone who really wants to learn to change their lifestyle. The magazine will teach you how to do it right on many fronts, from fitness to food shopping to dealing with special ocassions, family and friends, work, you name it.Weight Watchers has a strategy for adapting your new behaviors to every situation. It's all addressed here!

5-0 out of 5 stars Useful for everyone
I have been on weight watchers now for three years. However I just started subscribing to the Weight Watchers magazine in the past six months. In many ways it continues to inspire and jum start my motivation. When I am feeling frustrated I can look in the magazine to find something, ranging from recipes to great success stories, to motivate me. This months issue on vacations will be really useful for you in thinking about this summer. Even if you are not on wieght watchers and are interested in health living this magazine will be helpful to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get WW, If Only for the Receipes
I lost 34 pounds on Weight Watchers and part of that was because of their phenomenal publication. My wife and enjoy every issue, filled with new research, helpful facts, loads of coupons and those recipes.

My wife enjoys cooking from the recipes. What I love about WW is that you can live a normal life and eat the things you want. You'll be surprised at how many calories you can cut out of a regular dish just by substituting certan ingredients. And you don't even taste the difference! Sometimes its even better.

If you're trying to lose weight through WW, you really should have the magazine. It's inexpensive and it will help you along the way. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Mens Room
Esquire magazine covers a wide range of subjects for the modern male in today's America. It's much more sophisticated then other mens fare, like Maxim, Stuff and Playboy--not that there's anything wrong with those publications mind you. Esquire has no problem profiling a beautiful leading lady every now and then, it just does so much less in your face or obvious. I have also found that the stories are much more in depth. It also is a good place to read solid fiction from time to time-from some of today's popular writers. Politics Entertaiment, World Events, Sports and Fashion are all given their due. But at the same time it also has enough room for the fluff stuff as well.

Rcommended read and well worth the cost.

3-0 out of 5 stars Better than the competition
I use to enjoy Playboy, yet it has devolved into another typical guy mag (i.e. FHM). I gave Esquire a shot given the positive reviews & exceptional price. While it's not bad, on average I have found the magazine mediocre. Some issues are better than others, sometimes there is interesting commentary, interviews, stories, etc. Unfortunately, there seems to be a fair bit of the fluff that you also find in the other mags as well. In addition, much of the writing is generally a bit weak IMHO. Overall it's not bad; although, I gave an extra star for the price. Worth a look for 8$.

5-0 out of 5 stars What Men Need to Know
This is the ultimate magazine for sophisticated men.
    =
It deals with every issue of concern to masters of the
Universe -- money, clothes, cars, life-style, and of
course, women. The only thing is that this magazine
handles these topics in a much more elegant manner than
    Maxim, Playboy, GQ, what-have-you.

For example, there have been tremendously enlightening
articles about cutting edge books, music, even a vocal
instruction cd called "Voice Lessons to Go" and a sex
instruction dvd which was awesome called "New Sex Now"
have been brought to my attention through this
    excellent monthly.

    =
I read this magazine carefully, especially the annual
lists of things men need to know about. It's not something
to read on the subway -- rather, take it to the cabin
in the country and ponder every word in your favorite
    chair with a single-malt. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Shopshop
Ok, first of all, to settle the skinny-model debate, truth is that fashions spreads are shot way before they appear in the magazine so only samples of the clothes are available then. Fashion samples come exclusively in sizes 5 to 7 (or used to last time I checked) so it takes a model that is a 5 to 7 to model them. Also, in Lucky's defense I have to say that A LOT of their fashion pictures feature only the clothes laid out with no one wearing them, but anyway...

As far as the magazine goes, I enjoy it. Since it devotes itself entirely to shopping, it gives great advice on fashion, beauty, and home decorating. To be honest with you, I'd become disillusioned with other magazines as far as fashion went (No Cosmo, sadly I don't wear green satin gym short shorts with stilettos to the office) and the fashion Lucky presents seems far more real. True, I still find the occasional "I'd never wear that" item but mostly I find great tips for dressing either up or down, office or weekend. It's great. More than anything, it works amazingly well as a shopping companion what with some more affordable stores are coming out with great items, Lucky along with its "Yes" and "Maybe?" tags is great to take along and copy a few looks for a lot less. Some people have given some very negative reviews but they should realize that this magazine works as a guide, not a rulebook.

The Beauty section is good but not great and certainly not that different from Beauty sections found in any other magazine of this type. I'm not gonna remark so much on it except I enjoy the previews of new products.

The home decorating part I really enjoy. For the most part, the looks they propose are neutral and pretty Still, they find a few looks that are more daring and I'm certain a lot of people are eager to try. No matter the looks you choose, decorating in this manner is way easy to emulate at home.

With so many areas where to glean useful advice, this is agreat all-around magazine. Obviously if you don't enjoy shopping, this is not the maagzine for you but still fun to look at. Whether you enjoy following its advice or taking it shopping with you or not, Lucky makes for a well-rounded shopping chica!

3-0 out of 5 stars Attention Female Shoppers
This magazine is a product of CondeNet publishing and it is aimed at the younger female market, roughly from ages 18 to 30. This publication is a shopper's paradise, with more advertising than most any other magazine on the market.

I got a complimentary subscription to this magazine one day and I accepted, not only because it was free, but also because I really didn't know it was a woman's fashion magazine. With a title like "Lucky", there were all sorts of possibilities. It could have been about gambling, sweepstakes, or about getting lucky. I didn't know it was a woman's magazine, so I accepted it. And from what I can see, this magazine is one of average worth to the average person and it will appeal mostly to younger women.

Fashion covers a good amount of the magazine's 200 plus pages. Beauty tips are another important area of coverage. It is also common to see samples of different products inside the pages of each issue. Things like perfume samples, shampoo, and other things can be found buried somewhere within each copy. The coverage includes casual as well as high- class clothing and beauty products, with most of it falling at the upper end of the cost scale.

If you can tolerate the clogging of advertisements, this magazine might be a good choice for the younger female crowd that likes to keep in- tune with the latest styles and trends. Outside of that targeted market, however, I don't see much use for Lucky magazine. The photography is very good and the presentation is professional, but the magazine will likely be rated average by a large cross- section of the population.

4-0 out of 5 stars Truly great eye candy for fashionistas!
I love leafing through the issues, looking at all the latest styles and colors! It's definitely not mentally stimulating in any way, just great fashion and accesories to mull over buying! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

The "GQ look" is synonymous with classic cool and sophistication, and despite a recent outburst of trendy magazines (think Maxim and FHM) vying for the attention of young professional males, the steeped-in-tradition monthly GQ carries on without missing a beat. Yes, there's more décolletage gracing the cover than there used to be, but GQ continues to supply enough cultural commentary, celebrity profiles, features, and style guides to keep the modern man in touch with what's going on in the world from month to month.

GQ's ideal reader is probably one who actually might be able to afford any of the high-end suits, shoes, and watches featured among the countless ads packed between the covers. Though the average reader might enjoy scanning a fashion spread about steakhouses entitled "How to Dress for a Porterhouse" and reading articles like "50 Ways to Blow Your Bonus," it's unlikely that such folly holds much practical advice. Literary editor Walter Kirn keeps short fiction on display, and Alan Richman's writing on food and dining out is always entertaining, even when he comes across as borderline cranky. Two regular Q&A features, "The Style Guy" and "Dr. Sooth," run the gamut from when it's appropriate to wear a straw hat to problems in the bedroom.

2-0 out of 5 stars Lost it's way, another also ran.
I first subscribed to GQ when it was still a quarterly...an issue only every 3 months.Back then it was primarily a men's fashion magazine. It was sophisticated, useful and classy filled with clothing men could actually wear and practical grooming tips, trends and style.I suppose in many ways it resembled a Ralph Lauren print ad. Now fashion is relegated to a few pages in the back of the magazine with men wearing things they seem to have found at a local flea market.Nothing seems to fit properly, patterns - plaids - stripes...anything goes.It resembles homeless couture.Odds and ends that nobody should actually wear.Sure the world has changed. But fashion, good taste, and quality are timeless despite tweaking and contemporary preferences. The editors may feel that grunge, hopeless edginess for it's own sake and adolescent sloppiness sell issues. But they might be surprised that there's a huge pent up demand for sophistication and real style, both formal and relaxed.I hope someone else picks up the torch.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Magazine For Men Of Class
If you're tired of seeing the baggy jeans, XXXL T-shirts, Nike sneakers, and trashy photos that degrade women then GQ is up your alley. The quintessential read for the sophisticated man, GQ never fails to impress me with their class for the everyday man.The magazine includes columns about news, entertainment, high class (not always meaning expensive, but suitably fit) fashion, and even features ficitonal stories from both up and coming to well established authors. If your a person who wants to dress and act like an all around well put together man, then GQ is the perfect read for you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Actually about 2 1/2 stars
The style in this magazine is incredible; it's expensive and very fashionable, with the occasional cheap item to cater to the peasant reader (i.e., everyone).

That said, the magazine is rife with flaws.Snobbish east-coast writing, awful music that is lauded for no reason other than its anonymity, still worse book reviews of Norman Mailer-style authors, shrill articles by naive hacks, and so on.

The clothes are great, but buy with caution. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A great magazine!
I love Glamour! This has to be my favorite magazine of all times!Granted the ads drive me nuts but I love the Do and Don'ts and all the clothes.I am a shopping mogul! This magazine is great for showing new trends and I love layering and almost always they are showing new ways of layering clothes and teaching you how to wear your clothes in a different exciting way.I also enjoy the articles and life lessons as there is always something that I am interested in.I read Glamour almost from cover to back!I rarely skip articles! If you like fashion and just articles on every life issues this magazine is for you!

**I have noticed a change over the last year in the magazine, but it is not terrible.**

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite "trashy magazine"
I've had subscriptions to just about every woman's magazine there is over the past 8 years, but the only one I always renew is "Glamour".It's less "how-to-catch-a-man" oriented than "Cosmo", less pseudo-hipster than "Jane" and less serious than "Marie Claire".While it's certainly no "Ms." magazine, it has a lot of women-positive messages every issue, articles that aren't as sensationalistic and fear-mongering than most found in women's magazines, and lots of fashion and beauty tips.I feel that "Glamour" strikes the right balance between frivolity and seriousness--for those of you who like a side of third-wave feminism with your fashion, I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, good mix of world issues and fashion
This is a really good magazine, 'coz it doesn't only talk about fashion do's and dont's, but also about world issues. It includes inspirational stories about strong women, successful women, also women who are struggling in their lives. It has good health columns, and other stuff. ... Read more
