1-0 out of 5 stars Not up to par
This is just not that good. I maybe buy one issue a year the Top 100 Babes yeah that one is good. I buy FHM maybe twice a year. FHM to me seems more fresh and has better looking women and has better articles by the way.I am 20 and I could not imagine a person my age going out and buying more then 2 copies of Maxim because there are about 10 playboy mags a month about the same amount for Penthouse and even a few for Perfect 10. I was one of those little twirps that liked Maxim when I was 16 but now I get some playboy. If you a college man who buys this crap I will buy you a coppy of Penthouse instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars funny and cool
Maxim's appeal as seen by number of female reader's and reviewers crosses gender borders. A highly entertaining read with honest, yet funny reviews, interesting interviews, insightful, articulate articles, jokes, "stuff" and much more. It is in short a magazine I would love to write for one day, as the contributers' writing makes it obvious they really enjoy their jobs one more reason to like reading it. One more thing the techniques described for sexual losers to satisfy a woman works!:) and also recommend Sex and the perfect lover by Mabel Iam

5-0 out of 5 stars More than I expected.
This was a huge surprise for me.
All my friends were saying how cool this mag was, so I got it.
    Wow!
It is loaded with hot pics of super-hot chyks...
And there are very funny jokes...
And cool info about cars and other gadgets I want...
And even some articles and advise about sex that are great...
Reading this mag I discovered the DVD "New Sex Now" which
I have used to blow the minds of half the hotties in my dorm...
They are all saying I'm a sex-god now, thanks to Maxim. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Define Your Life-Style
Playboy is not just a magazine -- it's an accessory for
    living the modern good-life!

Of course there are amazing pictures of gorgeous women,
    but it's also much more than that. It's an attitude;
one that is about loving women and loving life... getting
the most out of life and every moment of living.

The articles and interviews and fashion insights are current
and very modern. They have turned me on to cool trends and
devellopments like the new Ford Thunerbird, and Jet Blue airlines and the "New Sex Now" dvd for super-intense sex.

Keeping Playboy on my coffee table is a commitment to myself,
to fun, and to being a man who lives life to the fullest.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not The Best
Playboy made a mark in its day about 40 years ago. Today it is a totally unneeded magazine. Its concept of a mixture of quality articles mixed in with naked photos so that the reader "will not feel quilty looking at the photos because he wanted to read an interesting article" is actually quite goofy. The end result is that the articles and the photos are lukewarm.

5-0 out of 5 stars Articles?
Seriously, today it is a lot easier to use the excuse that you buy Playboy for the articles when porn on the internet is so easy to get. They can afford the great writers and they make sure the articles are of some interest to men.

By the way, there are hot naked chicks in here! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Rag for Guys
This magazine is one of the alltime best rags for men. It has everything you want, including hot chykes, cars, gadgets, and sexy bikinis. It is also very cool in that it can turn you on to some cool stuff, like the new watches they showed by Fossil and DKNY, and some excellent Martini recipes, and then they turned me on to a couple of awesome DVDs called "NEW SEX NOW" and "GODDESS WORSHIP"
which have greatly enhanced my reputation with the chykies.

    This is a great Mag.

3-0 out of 5 stars Very Sad Development
As anyone who has seen either of my instructional dvd/videos "New Sex Now" or "Goddess Worship" can tell you -- I love super-hot and sexy women. Blondes, brunettes, and/or redheads, if they look sexy and slutty and hot, that's what I want. Especially if they are pictured in INTENSE and REAL EROTIC MOMENTS OF PASSION, as we explore in the films. Penthouse magazine USED TO deliver the primo goods. One of my favorite of all-time photo-spreads that I've ever seen was featured in this magazine a few years ago, portraying a guy in a gladiator costume with a scorching hot blonde and a scorching hot brunette. This was a completely explicit pictorial complete with "money shot" all over both these girls' faces. It was SOOOOO hot, I still keep it proudly in my collection. However, nowadays, with the change of management, this magazine has become a tarnished shadow of its former self, resorting to air-brushed glamour shots of silicone enhanced chicks looking pretty -- not slutty.Too bad, very sad.

1-0 out of 5 stars Penthouse - bleaaaah!
Last December, the editor of Penthouse changed from Bob Guccione to the PG brothers - I assume Guccione decided to sell the magazine at that time. Penthouse magazine immediately took an unforeseen turn from a great adult magazine to an introduction to female nudity for the young and un-initiated.

From 1999 to 2004, Penthouse Magazine has been the frontier-blazing magazine for adult sexuality - hetero, oral, golden-shower, fantasy, etc.The era has apparently ended and this without so much as notifying the magazine's current subscribers and offering a refund.

The new Penthouse is not worth the bother to pick up and browse. The quality of the photography is so-so, the model poses are un-inspired and flat.If you want PG rated nude females with no sex, beautiful young women, high-quality photography, the Playboy series such as Lingerie and Playmates are a better choice.

1-0 out of 5 stars What have they done... An Icon Lost!
If I wanted Music I would read Rolling Stone... If I wanted Sports I would read Sports Illustrated... I have always liked the humor and Politics of Penthouse but let's face it... the reason for getting the magazine was for the sex!The last few years have seen a wonderful evolution of sex in the magazine... former Taboos were explored and I loved it... then... sometime around the last presidential elections... Penthouse went rated PG-13 on us. Another Icon Lost!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Mag!
FHM is a Great Mag.I subscribe to this, along with Maxim and Stuff.By far, I prefer FHM the most. This magazine offers, not only eye candy (like the other mags) but unique columns which make it stand out.

A way better alternative, is Giant Mag.It's a new guy's magazine, which has interesting articles, music and book reviews, and background information in its articles, along with the standard (eye candy).

5-0 out of 5 stars Filling the Gap
Until Razor Magazine there were 2 types of (non-adult) men's magazines. On one side you had a more immature and childish group of mags, like MAXIM, Stuff and FHM. These magazines basically contain cleavage, crude humor and assinine stories. Now don't get me wrong, sometimes they were good for a quick laugh, but were not complete. I mean, you have over 100 pages and it takes only 10 minutes to finish the entire publication.

On the other side you had the classic men's mags, GQ and Esquire. In their prime they were the epitome of manliness, but now they seem to point towards the rogaine and ben-gay crowd. They are also good for some items, but they seemed to be just a little to old for me.

So here I am, 32 years old. I am past the college party guy attitude the MAXIM's of the world are geared for, and I am not old enough to get my first colonoscopy. What do I do?

Fortunately there is Razor Magazine. It has humor (not fart related), beautiful women (not the same 3 covermodels rotated quarterly), long interesting articles (not 1 paragraph caption like writings), travel, fashion, finance and more...

It fills the gap. I now have a magazine aimed at me. The guy who has graduated, grown up a bit and wants intelligent entertainment. I liked MAXIM, but then I grew out of it. I like Esquire, but I am not ready for it.

I have respect for all the magazines, they each have their niche in the market, and they are the leaders of their domain. I am so glad Razor Magazine filled the emptiness in the market where my demographic was stranded. For others MAXIM or GQ may be perfect, for me Razor Magazine is written like it had me in mind.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best in Men's Entertainment Bar None
I have read my share of men's magazines, but for my money the best on the market is Razor.I have been following Razor for a while and while it has gotten better by the month, the July issue convinced me to be a subscriber for good.

I have read some reviews stating that Razor is not Maxim or FHM.That's true, it's not.And thank god for that.In my opinion, once you read Maxim once, there's no need to buy another issue. It's the same thing month after month.

Razor is simply a more sophisticated, more informative, more balanced view at the lifestyle of the average, mature guy.

The July issue, for example, hits that balance perfectly. There's the guide to Las Vegas, which covers where to stay, where to eat, the best pools for scenery and the recipes for feature cocktails at various hotels. There is a scathing, yet hysterical look at PETA by Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller fame which follows in the same vein of an earlier terrific expose on the Church of Scientology.Jillette's article is a pleasure to read. There's a look by Stephen Applebaum on Hollywood's marketing of violence to children and how Hollywood may have learned nothing from the Columbine High School shootings.Again, a terrific read that is not at all obtuse (See GQ).One more feature is for all the people who love those HBO autopsy shows, a nice piece that takes you into the lab.Again, well written and informative.

On a more fun note (balance), there is a look at six of the top convertibles on the market today. And this is where Razor shines as the choices range from reasonable for any working man, to luxurious for those who are fortunate enough to be able to purchase such a vehicle. The sex advice article is about where to find opportnities to meet the fairer sex; it is funny and enjoyable without being lewd.

Two fashion features consist of summer wear for day and night.Again, the fashions are reasonable and realistic for any working man.

Finally, there are the girls - (they are part of a man's lifestyle too right?) - but Razor presents them in a completely different light than the Maxim's of this world.Beautifully filmed and without that fake airbrushed look, Talisa Soto shines. There is another beach shoot (fashion) that is just perfect.

Throw in advice on style, travel, wines, finance and more and you can see why it's my opinion that Razor is the most balanced men's magazine out there. It's a magazine that I am proud to have around when company stops by.Even my girlfriend is a big fan.

For the record, I am 28 and an entrepreneur.

3-0 out of 5 stars Razor On The Rebound
Razor lost its way for awhile but I read that the editor has been replaced and the publisher is taking a more hands on role and adding more of his lifestyle to the publication. That's a good thing.I hope some of the star contributors like A.J. Benza and Alan Spencer return more regularly. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a perfect 10 but nice
well the articles are much better then they are in Maxim. These people have some sophistication. The women are a lot of naked and that is great plus they are increddibly hot. Most of them are from Europe which is awesome any way. I really don't know why I gave it 4 stars because nothing holds it from a 5 star

4-0 out of 5 stars For the man who simply appreciates feminine beauty.
Suppose for a moment that you are a mature, virile male who has outgrown the "beer 'n broads" of Maxim, Stuff, and FHM, is tired of the increasing gynecologic emphasis of Penthouse, would not be caught dead with Hustler, Fox, and their ilk, and wants something a bit trendier than Playboy. Finally, suppose that you simply want to see beautiful women, photographed in lush settings, in a magazine printed on quality paper that shows all but emphasizes waist-up nudity.

Well--Perfect 10 is for that kind of man.Women of breathtaking beauty, tastefully posed in gorgeous settings (this does not look like a manual for gynecologists in training), with a minimum of text. That's it---nothing more.

Completely enjoyable, tasteful (to my mind, anyway), with grat appeal to men of sophisticated taste who have been fortunate enough to enjoy the company of women of beauty,Highly recommended! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST PHOTOGRAPHY MAGAZINE OUT THERE!
American PHOTO has an indepth look at alot of various subjects. There are some photos of real life situations & experiences. The latest issue depicted the Iraq war situation, how some of the soldiers & Iraqi civilians are coping with what's going on around them.
The magazine also has alot more close-up & detailed photo's, so even the amateur photographer can enjoy it.I have been a subscriber to American PHOTO for many years & probably will continue to subscribe for as long as the magazine is in existence, or the rest of my life, whichever comes first.I collect each & every issue.
    I love America PHOTO!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good creative photography magazine aimed towards glamour
American Photo is a much better magazine than its sibling Popular Photography, but frankly, that is not saying much. It seems as though its primary market is fashion/glamour photographers since most of its issues are devoted to these aspects of professional photography. There are other magazines which excel at nature photography, so I am not disappointed by its absence here, but not noting more fine art documentary photograhy is a major omission which I hope this magazine does address eventually. There are also excellent photo equipment reviews frequently written by working professionals, as opposed solely to in-house technical equipment overviews. American Photo is without question among the better photo magazines currently available, but unless you are interested mainly in fashion and glamour photography, you might wish to look more closely at Shutterbug or other magazines devote to nature and fine art photography.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's all about fashion.
I really have to wonder why they don't change the name of this magazine to be something about fashion and pop culture photography, because that's really what this is about.

If you LIKE fashion and pop culture photography (or you like pictures of nekkid ladies and are too shy to buy real porn but not shy enough to have to resort to National Geographic), then it's probably a pretty decent magazine, although even then they tend to concentrate pretty heavily on people and not very much on photography issues (technique, gear, or what have you).In a lot of ways you might as well just buy Rolling Stone and look at the pictures, or something.

If you don't much care for fashion photography, buy something else. ... Read more

THE ONLY DIFERENCE BETWEEN THE ENGLISH VERSION AND SPANISH, IS THE THE GIRLS ON THE SPANISH ISSUES ARE HOTTER THAN THE ONES IN ENGLISH, BUT THE ARTICLES ON THE ONE IN ENGLISH ARE MORE SASSY AND FUN, I HAVE A FEW CO-WORKERS THAT JUST LOVE THE HISPANIC WOMEN, AND I AGREE WITH THEM,SPECIALY IF YOU LOOK AT BARBARA KARI FROM PARAGUAY, SHE IS A HOTTIE,AND WHO COULD FORGET THE ISSUE WITH SOFIA VERGARA, SHE IS A BOMB.

The only reason someone would prefer this version is because you have no idea of what is English. They have almost all the articles you can get in the english version, but about 3 or 4 months later. The translation loses a lot of the sence and spice you get in english. And it is more expensive too!..

    Editorial Review

Founder and publisher Jann S. Wenner's brainchild remains the standard by which rock & roll magazines are measured, though even its most fervent boosters would concede there've been some growing pains for RS as it's strived to remain relevant through the decades. The erstwhile baby-boomer bible mixes fleshy covers of today's alluring celebs with coverage of graying rockers from the magazine's heyday. In addition to celebrity interviews, stalwart features such as CD reviews and Random Notes (the mag's long-running gossip section) provide familiar reading for older readers, as does the publication's superior political and cultural coverage. But the bulk of Rolling Stone's features are aimed at the younger pop-culture set. --Steven Stolder ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Corporate magazines still suck
Rolling Stone hasn't been a credible music journal for at least 15 years, and that's being extremely kind.Rather they are a marketing outlet for the corporate sponsors of whatever music is being pushed at the moment. That's of course when they deign to write about music at all. There are far too many politically oriented articles from an upper middle class armchair liberal point of view to catagorize Rolling Stone as strictly a music magazine. And let's not mention the extremely annoying fashion layouts.RS is more of a lifestyle journal that panders to white and mostly liberal middle class tastes and culture.I don't care about the political bent of the magazine so much as I care about the pop garbage that Rolling Stone writes about. They almost without exception shill for the flavor of the month rather than write any responsible criticism.Occasionally the articles are informative, but for the most part Rolling Stone is an irrelevant device to generate advertising dollars.

1-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
Isn't it amazing that the cost of a Rolling Stone subscription is barely enough to cover the cost of postage? The magazine is mostly advertisements, and the rest of it isn't worth reading.I grew up on Rolling Stone, but have realized that if I want a decent music review about music I care about, I'll go to pitchforkmedia.com.Even SPIN is better than this crap.

1-0 out of 5 stars RS: "Music Experts" who don't know CRAP about music.
Anyone who would consider putting a list of the 100 Greatest Artists ever without Pink Floyd, Queen, or Metallica has no knowledge of music whatsoever.

Also who the hell would put Kurt Cobain and Jack White on a list of the 100 greatest guitarists ever above Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads? Also not to mention that they didn't even include Slash or Malmsteem on the list.

This magazine makes me sick to the stomach. Basically all they do is praise artists who have good lyrics but crappy music, like Bob Dylan. They also need to get over their constant worship of U2, because even when they put out those 2 awful albums 'Zooropa' and 'Pop', they did nothing but praise them for their over-produced experimental crap.

And what can we say about their devotion towards 'The White Stripes' and 'The Strokes' and hail them as the BEST NEW THING, while we've been waiting for years for these people to make albums worth their praise. Yet, Rolling Stone rather ignores great new artists like Muse, Franz Ferdinand, and Keane.

I know you guys are probably potheads, but perhaps you should consider putting the hash pipe to the side and think about what you write because it's hurting the REAL ARTISTS. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Good if you can get it.
This magazine is good for people who enjoy piercings as well as tattoo's. However in my one year subscription I received one magazine and if you do have problems you can not locate the company to complain. It is a risk ordering this magazine.

3-0 out of 5 stars "attitude" = "platitude"
i periodically read this magazine for lack of a better tattoo/piercing journal. the tattoos the magazine displays are generally nice pieces but the piercing depictions could be better. while it is not bad, i have two main problems with "savage". 1) the articles seem to be written by the same people who write for "tigerbeat" and 2) the "attitude" section (supposedly the most edgy section of the magazine) seems to be an excuse to show mediocre looking women with outlandish hair/clothes, with a sore lack of actual modifications. however, i would still recommend "savage" over any of the other tattoo magazines. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars yet another great tattoo mag
This is one of the better mags out there. If you are one of the people that doesn't like to read, or can't, than this mag is for you, it doesn't have the informative articles that Tattoo has, this is more of he picture version. It's great for ideas and tattoo artist review.Good mag!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent tattoo zine!
This is my favorite tattoo rag next to HardCore Tattoos.Unlike the rest, Tattoo Flash cuts out the ads and BS while maintaining a variety of fresh art plus a section dedicated to reader submitted flash.

4-0 out of 5 stars hot flary flames
I realy don't have any common because this was the first tatoo book that i have seen but i'll tell you this it won't be the last. What i like about the magazine was that everything was in ccolor and not black and white like other maga. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent depiction of tattoo culture
Many people ...moan about the articles in this magazine, it is really unfortunate that no one is interested in the tattoo culture as much as the tattoos themselves.I am a collector of tattoos (12 and still going strong), but why get tattoos without knowing about advancements in tattooing, or the awesome people that do it.People who have tattoos should really enjoy the articles, and the people that keep tattooing alive. The culture is as entertaining as the pictures, and if you don't apreciate that than you shouldn't get tattoos.Respect those that make a living sharing their art with the world, don't be close minded and expect only pictures, that's not tattoing or the tattoo world. This is an excellent magazine and I would suggest it to any one!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Love it, but....
Being tattooed myself (currently 11) I love checking out new art from around the world... which has made me addicted to this magazine. The only problem? I have to agree that there are just too many articles that have nothing to do with tats. Granted, the mag has introduced me to some new cds, but that really isn't what I'm buying it for. If you're into articles as well as pics, get a subscription. If you're looking for just pics - check out Flash magazine.

    Editorial Review

Glamour is the twentysomething woman's "Miss Manners" and charm-school bible, bursting at the seams with intimations, propositions, and warnings: how to dress for a dinner party, how to turn him on in five minutes, how to avoid the dreaded "fashion don't." Glamour's mission is to help the young woman trapped between Seventeen andVogue find her way to becoming a happier, healthier, sexier gal. Unabashedly girly, including all the things we've come to expect from beauty and fashion mags--celebrity style gossip, hot trends in hair and makeup, quizzes, and quick fixes for everything from broken nails to fractured friendships--Glamour is girl talk, pure and simple. --Daphne Durham ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A great magazine!
I love Glamour! This has to be my favorite magazine of all times!Granted the ads drive me nuts but I love the Do and Don'ts and all the clothes.I am a shopping mogul! This magazine is great for showing new trends and I love layering and almost always they are showing new ways of layering clothes and teaching you how to wear your clothes in a different exciting way.I also enjoy the articles and life lessons as there is always something that I am interested in.I read Glamour almost from cover to back!I rarely skip articles! If you like fashion and just articles on every life issues this magazine is for you!

**I have noticed a change over the last year in the magazine, but it is not terrible.**

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite "trashy magazine"
I've had subscriptions to just about every woman's magazine there is over the past 8 years, but the only one I always renew is "Glamour".It's less "how-to-catch-a-man" oriented than "Cosmo", less pseudo-hipster than "Jane" and less serious than "Marie Claire".While it's certainly no "Ms." magazine, it has a lot of women-positive messages every issue, articles that aren't as sensationalistic and fear-mongering than most found in women's magazines, and lots of fashion and beauty tips.I feel that "Glamour" strikes the right balance between frivolity and seriousness--for those of you who like a side of third-wave feminism with your fashion, I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, good mix of world issues and fashion
This is a really good magazine, 'coz it doesn't only talk about fashion do's and dont's, but also about world issues. It includes inspirational stories about strong women, successful women, also women who are struggling in their lives. It has good health columns, and other stuff. ... Read more
