5-0 out of 5 stars La familia
I am very pleased to see that we have a set of toys with the traditional family. I enjoy watching my youngester play with them.I was a little bit thrown of at the fact that I myself , Iam a hispanic woman but yet not necesaraly look like the puppets you have made. Not all hispanics are tanned skin with black hair. As far back as mygreat parents go they were white with blonde hair and yes Iam 100% spanish. My daughter is proud that she has a spanish family puppet set but feels that the puppets are also too stereotyped.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids love them
I teach Spanish and puppets are a nice tool to use with kids.I do a lot with these toys.I do not find these "offensive" at all."Hispanics" or Latinos, as I like to refer to myself, do come in all shades, this is just one of them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun!
My kids have a lot of fun with these puppets. While I try to give them dolls of different cultures and races to reflect the diverse world we live in, it's always great to find some that look like us! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Ready to belt out one of her favorite Hispanic pop songs at a moment's notice, this Hispanic Sing Along Susie doll is a fun playmate for the young music lover in yourfamily. A soft and huggable addition to the toy box that can stand freely on her own twofeet, Susie comes with a battery-operated, sing-along microphone that plays six differentclassic Hispanic hits, including the popular La Bamba. As the infectious rhythmof the upbeat songs fills the playroom, kids can either sing along with the songs or placethe microphone in front of Susie and she'll take over on lead vocals. It includes a lyricsheet and instructions in Spanish. The toy requires three AAA batteries (not included).--Chris Burns ... Read more

Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars

    Editorial Review

You've come a long way, baby doll. This talking, crawling, walking, growing doll learns her name, her ABC's, and thedifference between peas and peaches. My Dream Baby continues to respondto her mommy's voice as she "grows" from a newborn to an older toddler. Thanks to a mechanism that times how long she's played with, the dollreally does gradually grow an extra four inches in height from thewaist. Little girls from ages 4 to 7 will enjoy taking care of a babydoll that offers new requests, cute songs, and nursery rhymes, creatingcharming chatter just like a real toddler. At first, My Dream Babymerely cries for her bottle and a clean diaper, but as she gets olderand more used to her mommy's care, she begins to giggle, coo, and talkin a baby voice, and then she's ready to crawl. After several morehours of play, she sings nursery rhymes and songs, counts, says herABC's, and then learns to walk. The Hispanic My Dream Baby has darkbrown hair, brown eyes with real lashes, light brown skin, and rosepink lips.

My Dream Baby is very heavy for a baby doll, and she alsorequires a lot of battery power (three C cells and one 9-volt, notincluded). She appears to be a doll in every sense outwardly, exceptthat when you look into her slightly open mouth the sensors she uses toidentify things put into her mouth are visible (make sure there's nosampling of real peas or peaches). She is undeniably appealing, though, when she responds to her name with a cheery "Mommy!" and her chatterwhile crawling is cute, too: "Look, look--I crawling now!" --MarcieBovetz ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars MY DREAM BABY
We just want to know where we can find these dolls.

We have two Girls and they ARE great with kids.
We have had these dolls on our wish list since our girls were six and seven.
They are now 13 and 12. They want to start babysitting and we do not think they have enough experience.

Please if anyone knows where to get these dolls, please let us know.
    Thanks in advance to everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars This toy is ....
Im 13 and i been begging for this doll for 2-years. This doll realy should be for girls ages 10- 14. This toy is alright. One problem is the toy grow a little too fast.Within the first 10 minutes playing with "kyla",she was already a toddler.she grew to an older toddler the first day.so I'm trying it again,so far shes growing at an comfortable rate. Another is getting the food accessories in the dolls mouth in time to respond to the dolls needs.in all this doll is better than the other My Dream Baby's.She has better reviews. Thats the reason why i brought her, i was looking for the doll with the better reviews.shes cute and fun to play with anyway.I love her,but not her fast growing.I also love the way shes heavy it seems more real.

5-0 out of 5 stars WE LOVE HER!!!
... We gave Dream Baby to her along with many other things for Christmas. I was just waiting for something to go wrong with her.... She is wonderful!!! Our little girl loves her and really enjoys when she does something new as well as when she talks to her. "I love you mommy." is her favorite thing to hear from Dream Baby. :) Real cuddly she is not but other than that she is a favorite in our house of many, many interactive dolls. I would be disappointed in any doll for $100 but she was well worth her $ and more. We bought the hispanic version as we are trying to teach our little one to treat all people the same and she never even mentioned the skin color. :) So we got an extra lesson for free. :) As a day care provider I know this is a valuable doll in several ways for teaching and learning. :) ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Dollhouse Fashion Doll
This doll comes in a tubular plastic container with her stand. Her outfit is cute, even comes with underwears as well. Also included is a handy plastic suitcase with a key ring attached, and carries a extra set of shoes and a one top. Seems very durable and heavy. I think she is heavy due to her huge head which I found cute. If she had a bobble head she will look to cute for words on a desk or dresser...LoL. The doll is also articulated at the neck, shoulders, and at the thigh part of the leg. Facial paint work is great! the colours blend well. She even has one painted on toe ring, one on each feet. I rated her a 3 star in education because a child might want to sew an outfit for her giving them ideas of fashions. Not sure if a child will play with it for a long period of time since her hair is molded on and not much for posing. But as a collector of dolls she is sure to shine in my collection. ... Read more

    Bratz: Yasmin
Average Customer Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars
    Toy
    list price: $16.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

The Bratz are four hip friends with a "passion for fashion." Yasmine'staste in clothing runs to the Bohemian; she loves the hippy look of earth tonesand retro textures. Like all the Bratz, she's got two pairs of oversize shoes, two tops, two bottoms, a backpack, a cool hair accessory, and a hairbrush. Herminiskirt, bell-bottoms, tube top, gypsy shirt, platform shoes, and accessoriesmake up about 20 possible fashion combinations. Each Bratz comes with an11-by-17-inch poster of the whole Bratzpack posing with attitude. Themanufacturer's recommended age for this doll is 4 and older, but we found someof the clothing rather challenging to put on and take off. Children under aboutage 9 will probably need adult assistance. --M. Sullivan ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bratz dolls Rule!
I recently got a bratz doll during january. I got a Yasmin bratz doll I have fun with her every day. but one day her head popped off! so now I plan on getting a funk 'n glow meygan doll. Bratz are the best dolls made so far. If you plan on getting this doll, your making the right choice! just don't put heavy things on her head!

3-0 out of 5 stars Bratz dolls look great, but have almost no play value
While these dolls look really cool, they are played with for about 10 minutes, then tossed aside, never to be picked up again.I don't know why, but the dolls just seem to preclude the sort of extended, imaginative play that some other dolls encourage. The clothes are of dubious quality (they're mostly tube tops and miniskirts...a strip of fabric with velcro on either end for fastening into a tube) and there are hardly any clothes sold separately (only 3 separate outfits!).Do you want to have to keep buying [the] dolls in order to get a change of clothes?

Also, this doll sends an overtly "sexy" signal, with heavy-lidded, heavily made-up eyes, huge pouty mouth, and scanty clothes.Barbie is a cloistered nun, compared to the Bratz girls. If you're not crazy about the idea of your 8 year-old wanting to wear makeup, micro-minis, platform shoes and tummy shirts, you might not want to give her these dolls to play with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bratz and Fun Tips
Hey!I think the Bratz Dolls are so awsome!I have two Yasmin dolls (one from the first set one from the new set). For all you Bratz lovers who have no clue where to put her clothing, here is my tip: You can go out and buy one of those mini lockers. They work really well. There are hooks and sometimes a mirror.Plus, they have funky designs on the doors and they really go with them well!Rock on! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Latina magazine
I am very dissappointed at this magazine. Not only I dislike the heavy advertisement it is mostly in English.I accepted a free trial that will allow me to enjoy a free issue and if I was not satisfied, no money was due and the free issue was for me to keep.I have received 2 threats so far from the collection department! Unreal! I was hoping the magazine could be of help for my Spanish classes but it isn't.To top it off, if you have a question, the bill does NOT include a phone number to reach them directly and settle your claim! Don't buy it!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for Spanish students
I subscribed to this magazine because I'm an Intermediate Spanish student. To my disappointment, the magazine is mostly English with only some paragraphs here and there in Spanish.Lots and lots of advertising which is mostly in Spanish.

... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars WORST SERVICE/CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
I WAS SUBSCRIBED FOR A YEAR WHICH ENDED LAST MONTH, I ONLY RECEIVED 2 ISSUES, CALLED MANY TIMES TO COMPLAIN AND NO FAVORABLE ANSWER. OTHER MAGAZINES I ORDERED ARRIVED WELL. I WILL SAY WORST SERVICE, WORST CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, WORST SERVICE, AMAZON SHOULDN'T HAVE AS A PRODUCT.

2-0 out of 5 stars Vocabulary builder, but not your father's Reader's Digest
A reluctant "thumbs up"(the other one is helping to hold my nose)...

Reader's Digest used to be a rather conservative offering, but now has undergone several recent transformations, resulting in something designed to compete with "Us" or "People", as evidenced by the now-standard kiss-up softball fluff piece to this or that Hollywood celebrity, nearly all airheaded pinko lefties. This from the once staunchly anti-Soviet/anti-communist magazine.

That being said, I've reluctantly continued my subscription for 10yrs., because it is a good vocabulary builder. NOTE: have plenty of dictionaries handy! Whoever translates the article may call it what it's called in Venezuela & not Colombia. The world "regazo"("lap"[i.e., a place to sit] in Eng.) is common in the magazine, but my (Venezuelan) master's degree tutor & her PhD (Mexican) gal pal had never heard of the word! (They say "piernas"[legs] which conjures up a humorous image to the native speaker of Eng.).

Whatever. Back issues are hard to find, sadly, because these'd be a treasure. Mexico's version of eBay, perhaps.

That the articles are different is prob'ly a matter of demographics(as applies to advertising)/audience appeal/simple editorial preferences. Yes, I too thought I'd simply place the Eng. & Span. editions side-by-side & have the translations spoon fed to me, but this isn't the case.

Also, not all editions in Spanish are available to US addresses! Forget it if you want the magazine that's printed/distributed in Spain!

5-0 out of 5 stars Racist no way!Proud of his Culture Yes!
This is for "la raza" which means my people is not racist by any terms. Those who say he is are just simply ignorant of the point of view of which he is coming from. Brown is beautiful is all he is trying to say and that he is also proud of his heritage and people which do not even know there roots and have no culture behind them could never understand because the only culture they know is what they see on TV. This doesn't come from the real people themselves. Kid Frost tells the truth on how hispanics live in East L.A.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good First Album
Racist? Hardly.Kid Frost was one of the first hispanic rappers who exploded on the music scene. With acts like Gerrardo trying to represent "La Raza", Kid Frost came out and let everyone know what life was like in East L.A.

Admittingly Kid Frost seems to borrow from earlier black rappers like Big Daddy Kane, and has an angry pen pointed back at his own community (like Ice-T and Ice Cube), Kid Frost enters the realm previously occupied by black rappers (and Vanilla Ice).

4-0 out of 5 stars A CD for VERY interested listeners
This is an excellent collection of a minor genre. Some of the songs, such as Amar es Entregarse and Mananitas Tapitas, are standards, but most of the recordigs are very specific to New Mexico.Madre de Dolores, for example,is a classic penitente song that plays more as a chant.Los Comanchitos isa very catchy tune, but has a grim history. The song is sung in the voicesof "captivos," children taken during Comanche raids againstSpanish settlements. All of the songs on CD are typical of field recordingsby local performers, not by polished musicians. This is especially obviousonce we leave the choir-based religious tunes and get into the morefolkloric music. This CD saves an important and often overlooked aspect ofAmerican history.I doubt, however, that most listeners would find much ofit musically pleasant. ...
