5-0 out of 5 stars All about money/collecting
This is without a doubt one of the best magazine/newspapers that you can find to keep up with the coin collecting craze. The only problem I have with it is that sometimes, the paper tries to get in to politics and not coin collecting. The problems that the ANA is/was having has been beaten to death. If you are serious about coin collecting, this is for you. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars my pleasure
After being on antiques roadshow, the insider has given me better knowledge & appreciation of the search. The depth of the articles always satisfies my interests. I always look forward to the next issue. Thank you so much.

5-0 out of 5 stars TELL ME WHAT IT'S MADE OF
I JUST RECEIVED MY FIRST COPY & THINK THAT IT IS VERY INFORMATIVE. THERE IS A SMALL ARTICLE ON A DOLL THAT WAS FROM JAPAN WITH A VERY NICE PICTURE. I JUST WISH THAT (WITH DOLLS ESPECIALLY) YOU COULD TELL US WHAT IT IS MADE OF. I HAVE A DOLL THAT LOOKS LIKE IT, BUT IT COULD BE OF A DIFFERENT MATERIAL. IT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL TO KNOW. I WILL BE PUTING MY ISSUES IN A FOLDER FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. THANKS! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Info you can't find other places
I agree with "Pigeons" review. This was not as expensive for me as I got a "bundled" package of CoinValues, CoinWorld, both 1 year subscriptions (12 issues, 52 issues respectively). And with CoinWorlds weekly paper you are kept VERY up-to-date on goings on in the numismatic community.I got the both for around $41.

5-0 out of 5 stars A regular in-depth look at the coin world and all of its trappings!
I picked up a couple of issues of this newspaper/magazine at the Santa Clara show and on the basis of those two numbers decided to subscribe.I already subscribe to Numismatic News (NN) which I have also rated at 5 stars and I think I'll continue with both publications because they seem to vary just enough from each other to make things interesting.Coin World appears to spend more time on the nuts and bolts of the Coin World (well, duh, I guess the title says it), with good listings and mentions of new numismatic publications; reference books being essential building blocks for the erection of an edifice of numismatic knowledge. Its articles about specific numismatic issues also include a lot of the minutiae about the decision making process, problems and solutions, leading up to the final issuance of any given coin.It also has really excellent, detailed articles on esoteric topics not readily available in other publications. For instance, contained in one of my complimentary copies there was a truly fascinating article on Alaska Trade Tokens, as well as an entertaining one about the cascade of silver dollars created at the Philadelpia Mint when one of the employees charged with raking loose dollars together from atop a pile weighing hundreds of tons inadvertently broke open a bag which set off a chan reaction of burst open bags causing other employees to flee before the avalanche of tumbling silver.A further good thing about this publication is that the classifieds section appears to be qualitatively, if not quantitatively better than that found in NN.What this publication does not have is recent US Mint statistics (although lots of articles on new mint issues, etc.) which is a really nice thing about NN.Anyway, at about twice the price of NN, I'm not sure that you are getting a publication that is twice as good but I do believe that it is worth the cost of subscription and I hate to say it but if you have to choose between either this one or NN, go with this, in my opinion. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful publication
This magazine is for serious collectors, and those of us, who wish we were. This magazine is highly professional, high quality paper, photographs that almost rival national geographic.Every month they feature different articles about collecting, different time periods and so much more.I find the articles highly educational.
5-0 out of 5 stars Superb recreational reading
The accuracy and scope of this magazine are first class.A collector will learn much about any topic treated in this magazine. But let's not overlook the real pleasure simply of reading about all kinds of antiques--their historical context, their craftsmanship, the vicissitudes of their survival over time, not to mention their beauty.Whether you own a single antique, this elegant, intelligent magazine will make you an armchair traveler, an amateur historian, and even a bit of a connoisseur!I recall a whole issue devoted to Winterthur and the Duponts, and another on the incomparable Elektra Havemeyer and her Early American museum.Wonderful color photographs, very competently written articles, and always something new (which you knew nothing about before).Country Life magazine gives comparable relaxation reading and fantasy material, but it is much too expensive. The Magazine Antiques is a bargain ticket to many new historical destinations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine
Keep in mind that this is info for the serious collector. I found the articles to be thorough and accurate. This magazine is targeted at the collector of museum quality antiques. They include a great deal of information on construction, how to identify styles, as well as individual makers. Many of the topics covered here are rare and expensive, but the info provided gives one great insight on how to evaluate what's readily available. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars It's a Rag now
When CBG was a weekly (newspaper) it was fairly accurate in it's reporting on the newest prices for comics, changes in the writer/artist teams, and the direction that the publishers were going for the coming year. But once the pros left and the new geek management took over and changed it into a Wizard clone, it became just as bad as that rag. There are ten main stories on the page, and maybe two have any truth in them. And I now know for a fact that many interviews on the pages were either faked or they took the interview words out of constract, so it makes you belive one thing when it is really false.Kind of fits the comic book industry now.A BIG JOKE.

4-0 out of 5 stars More meaty than Wizard
While sections like "Longbox Manifesto" and "Ask Mr. Silver Age" will certainly appeal to long-time comic book lovers, CBG is a magazine that, month-in and month-out, will contain new and fresh news and stories that you more-than-likely didn't read elsewhere. The comic book and graphic novels reviewed each month are more than just Marvel and DC books, too, which is nice.
4-0 out of 5 stars It's Wizard for the more discerning reader
When Comics Buyers Guide was a weekly tabloid, it appealed mainly to the hardcore comic book collector. Now that it has switched to a monthly format, delivering a healthy 244+ pages/issue, it has evolved into a dual-purpose magazine, still meeting the collector's needs while offering much more content for the discerning comic book reader and/or fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best bear magazine
Teddy Bear and Friends is widely known to be the best magazine about teddy bear collecting. They are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the teddy bear in 2002 with a comprehensive history of the teddy bear, identification and price guides for old bears, interviews with important people in the bear world, patterns for old-style bears, and much more. 4-0 out of 5 stars Contribute and help it grow
I like Doll Reader. It is usually in the shadow of Dolls magazine, but it can be a more lively periodical and the editor(s) seem open to reader inquiries and material submissions.I think if more collectors would do a little research on their favorite subjects, and submit articles, that we could have a really informative magazine going on here.

5-0 out of 5 stars A quality magazine
Art & Antiques is a classy magazine that covers art news, ADAA-member galleries, auctions, and fairs, as well as provides in-depth articles on emerging artists and trends in the art world--past and present. It strives to both educate and entertain readers within its pages. Although it advertises for what some may consider "less than perfect" or "lower echelon" artists, anyone with business sense knows that the advertising and editorial sections of a magazine are separate...just because a publication runs an advertisement doesn't mean they support or endorse it. Art & Antiques definitely does the best it can to find a balance between sounding snobby and sounding like an high school art teacher.

3-0 out of 5 stars Should be titled "People & Personalities"
Compared to "Art & Auction,""Art @ Antiques" is fairly breezy and superficial. Too many articles profile wealthy socialite collectors or handsome artists whose work is mostly decorative--in the Leroy Neiman league. (One annual feature profiles "The top 100 collectors" which is, of course, nothing but gush.)The paid advertisements mostly feature artists of the post-Grandma Moses school. If you want to sharpen your taste and enlarge your knowledge of the art world, this is not the magazine to start with. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars NEVER RECEIVED MAGAZINE
I ordered this magazine as a gift for my father for Christmas and as of March 2006 still have not received any magazines, but my credit card was charged.Publisher not very good with customer service as phone calls not returned. Therefore, sent an email to Amazon to see if they could help.
3-0 out of 5 stars An okay magazine...
When you look at the major monthly coin magazines, you have this magazine and Coinage. They are both good magazines, but i think Coinage is a much better magazine. One thing i like about this magazine is they have a column that tells what people have found in change. That can be interesting. The thing i do not like about the magazine is the articles. They are okay articles. The Coinage articles are much better in my opinion.I would say if you want a monthly coin magazine go with Coinage not this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine for the Vinyl Nuts!
I've been collecting vinyls for 6 years now. I only recently discovered this magazine and subscribed imediately. There are a lot of great infor about artists of all kinds, record collecting and venues for finding them. The front page always has a frame worthy photo. It is a great added addition to a fun hobby.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Magazine For The Music Enthusiast
Goldmine is a music magazine that caters to record collectors. The cover stories and articles deal with all types of music (rock, r & b, pop, country, jazz, reggae, punk, alternative, etc.) with the greatest emphasis on artists who were popular in the '60s and '70s.Recent cover stories include interviews with surviving members of the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, the Four Seasons, and the Dave Clark 5's lead singer Mike Smith. There are also annual issues devoted to Elvis Presley and the Beatles.5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Enjoyable
