3-0 out of 5 stars So much potential
If only LA had a magazine as polished and informative as The New Yorker. It's not like there isn't an audience for it -- more New Yorker subscribers live in California than in New York. It's true!
5-0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Way to Know Los Angeles
Los Angeles Magazine has a variety of information for everyone. Some of the stores, fashions, etc... might run on the high end price-wise (especially the paid advertisements). But the magazine always offers a great overview of what is going on in Los Angeles. Covering News, Politics, Celebrities, Fashion, Food and Fun things to do. The best issue is the Annual Restaurant issue - this is not to be missed. Restaurants in every price range are listed. Besides the "Dining Out" monthly section, there is "The Top Ten" - plays, music, museums and more to do that month. This magazine is a great way to get to know Los Angeles. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE MAGAZINE!
I was hesitant at first to spend $29 on a subscription that only sent out four issues a year, but once I received my first issue I was hooked. This magazine is incredible! The pictures of the park from the past and present, articles, and interviews make the E-Ticket magazine a page turner. If you love disneyland you will love this magazine. You can even order past issues in case you want to explore in depth your favorite disneyland attraction.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you miss old Disneyland
Are you one of those people that go to Disneyland, and sigh wistfully, "I remember when I was young and this attraction wasn't here, and they had this great old ride they tore down"? Well this magazine is for you. A work of love by Disney historians and fans, it catalogs old attractions, shows, and personalities of Disneyland as they were in the 50's and 60's, and shows their progress and change over time. Usually an issue is devoted to one major topic, such as a land like Frontierland, or an attraction like the Mark Twain Riverboat. In that issue you would see and hear from former cast members who designed and operated the attraction. It features pictures of concept art, diagrams, the model, construction photos, and finally the finished attraction as it was then and any changes since opening.
5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the BEST!
Growing up with Walt's Disneyland, I was hungry for anything relating to the hidden facts and history of this most Magic of Kingdoms. Once I discovered "The 'E' Ticket", it turned out to be everything I had hoped for and more.I imediately subscribed and ordered every back issue, grateful that I have a totally complete set. ("Ticket" is totally subscription supported and accepts NO ADVERTISING!!!)Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great travel /recreation guide/objective review of people & places in Texas
EXCELLENT IN EVERYTHING...HIGH CLASS ADVERTISING.GREAT JOURNALISM!!

4-0 out of 5 stars I like it, and I'm not Texan
On february 2005 I went to Houston for a week, and I had heard of Texas Monthly, so I picked it up at the airport when I got there. It was a pleasant company during my laundry at the hotel I have to say! Beautifully designed, with interesting and thought-provoking articles. I am glad I got it, so glad I even got me a subscription. Highly recommendable.
4-0 out of 5 stars Getting Better
I agree with some of what all the other reviewers have stated.I, too, am a Texas native who has subscribed for nearly 15 years (and read my father's for 10 years before that) and have seen the mag's quality ebb and flo.As copyKat states, the magazine doesn't seem to know who its target audience is (i.e. upscale, politically savvy, middle-or-the-road, city dweller/suburban, etc.)The political and investigatory writing is still top-notch.This state has a lot of problems and the magazine does not try to simply gloss them over. However, some (ok, many) of the 'fluff' pieces leave me wondering why they were included in the first place. Like ducksquat, I also dislike having to stop an article in mid-paragraph to hunt down the continuation on page 97. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An informative magazine for RV'ers
My husband and I have been full-timing for the past 4 yrs and we look forward to each and every issue of Trailer Life! From the informative 10-minute tech to the new and up and coming new tow vehicles, etc. Yes, there is a lot of ads, but there is a lot of useful information there on new products that every camper can use at one time or another, and no we don't "keep up with the Jones's"!We just enjoy RV'ing....

2-0 out of 5 stars Ho-hum
I have to agree mostly with the reader from Greeley.Trailer Life is a fine magazine if you like reading about the latest big RVs and trucks.5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the Time to Check Out This Magazine
Having been an RVer since childhood, I find Trailer Life extremely helpful. My husband and I are carrying on the tradition that my family started when I was young - we own an RV and have traveled over 4,000 miles in one trip with a trailer.I don't find the advertisements annoying - as with any magazine, they are needed to help finance the magazine. If you are a REAL RVer, you will find the information in the advertisements helpful. As far as the feature story highlighting the tow vehicle more than the towed vehicle, this is simply not always true. Also, the feature stories from month to month show trailers of all sizes and all price ranges. One month may highlight an expensive motor home; however, the next month may highlight a much less expensive pop-up trailer. There may not be but one trailer or tow vehicle of interest highlighted each year, but it is always interesting to read about all that's out there.I must disagree with the Greeley, CO reader again -this is not a Keep-Up-With-the-Jones' magazine.Trailer Life exists to keep readers informed, not ahead of everyone else! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars got it for my parents...
...and although it was a creative house warming gift, I am not impressed. If you are intrested in knowing what is going on with the lawyers or the fanciest chef's in the Boston area and where to locate these people, this magazine might satisfy you. I got a subscription for my parents when they moved to the Boston area about a year ago and, although they might give it a nicer review since they did RENEW their subscription, being an out-of-towner I am not at all impressed. The magazine seems to be promoting the idea that everyone in Boston is loaded and lives the glamorous life and while I understand that the cost of living int he area is quite high, I do not believe nor have I experienced the image promoted in the magazine to be accurate of the area. In visiting my parents I have tried many times to pick up the magazine and read it to no avail...

1-0 out of 5 stars This isn't the real Boston...
This isn't the Boston that 95% of us here in Boston know. This is the elite Boston and really boring. There are more ads in this magazine than in 2 issues of Vanity Fair.2 good things about this magazine: 1.The best of Boston edition is very good.2.It perfectly fits my cats litter box as a liner.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The kindgom and the glory...
Along with 'British Heritage', the magazine 'Realm' is one of the periodicals I use to keep current both on the current state of Britain's traditional culture as well as the current streams of thought on the history of Britain. Each issue includes articles on the past and the present; it is useful for both residents (to learn more about the isles called home) as well as for tourists, to learn more about what is worthwhile seeing. This magazine will give ideas that go beyond the typical travel suggestion magazine, with a greater discussion of history, as well as the current personalities involved in preserving that history.

5-0 out of 5 stars New England Charm Captured in Print
Despite the more modern look of Yankee magazine, it still retains its charm and wealth of good articles and information. I have been reading this magazine since I was a child, and you can spend hours poring over the information. From recipes to non-fiction articles, to calendars displaying the latest festivals in the New England area, Yankee magazine is truly a gem to keep on your bedside table.

2-0 out of 5 stars Customer Service Lacking
Although I found the magazine itself to be interesting and colorful, with a good series of articles on marriage and relationships, I found that customer service was very dissapointing. I missed an issue back in October, and have contacted customer service 3 times to have them resend the issue I missed. It is now March, and I still haven't received my replacement. Just a heads up!

5-0 out of 5 stars Life Saver
Loved this magazine. They had such great articles and tips that saved my sanity! LOVED IT and HIGHLY recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
As a certified Francofreak I can assure you this is a great little mag. This magazine goes WAY beyond the Paris and Provence cliches of a France travel magazines or books.I've read it cover to cover and still can't get enough so I am going to subscribe to the sister mag "Living in France" right now.
5-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully presented,written.
I subscribed to this magazine because I am teaching myself French, and intend to visit France someday. This magazine really makes you want to get there. The photos are beautiful, and the articles are well-written and very informative.I particularly loved the page-by-page journey through very small hamlets and villages.

5-0 out of 5 stars Heritage Mag
I have received 2 copies and really enjoy the magazine, the stories very greatly, and are well written, a great mag to sit and enjoy a good cup of tea with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rule, Britannia!
'British Heritage' has been one of my favourite magazines since my childhood. I learned much of British history, country life, culture, and style from this magazine. Despite the occasional categorisation under Archaeology in some guides and libraries, this magazine is in fact a remarkably broad-based publication that examines various aspects of British life. I think the Queen might be a bit surprised to find a story about how she spends Christmas under the heading 'Archaeology'. 5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful, informative treat
As a long time subscriber, I have found British Heritage to be as creative and interesting a magazine as must exist. Subjects are diverse, the writing intelligent and often great fun, presentation delightful. It covers everything from history (for which it is a goldmine - there are unexpected and fascinating topics in each issue) to wonderful places to visit to ideas for a perfect afternoon tea. 5-0 out of 5 stars A lovely magazine
This magazine is lovely.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good... A little too comercial
I've always thought of Sunset magazine as the type of magazine you'd find in the back of an airplane seat. The kind of magazine with flashy pictures, expensive wines and places you can never afford to go to. This is a good magazine, but I find level of advertising annoying. Also, the reviews of hotels don't strike me as that reliable. Last month, based on a review in this magazine about an inn, we stayed the night at this location and found the service was awful, the 'rooms with fireplaces' not functional and the room smelled bad. These facts were conveniently left out of the review which touted the friendly staff and the great rooms. So I guess, ultimately, I'd take reviews and articles in the magazine with a grain of salt.
5-0 out of 5 stars Dream Ideas
I enjoy looking at and reading the articles in "Sunset".We plan to retire in Montana and I save articles that have information on houses, yards, etc. Someday, we hope to use some of this information. Great, healthy recipes also included in the magazine. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars How would I know?
How would I know how the magazine is since it has been paid for and I have not received a copy yet?I think that it is a little presumptious of anyone to ask until the appropriate time! After I have had the opportunity to read and review the magazine, feel free to ask my opinion at that time.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you have any interest in Alaska, subsribe to this magazine
Each month I read this magazine cover to cover.Ten years ago, I fell in love with Alaska on my "once in a lifetime" trip. Now I am on my 12th visit to the state and hope to find a way to continue visiting. This magazine helps me make it to the next trip and gives me more and more ideas about what to do when I am in the state.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Coverage Of Our Biggest And Most Beautiful State
I have loved Alaska since the first time I visited the state in 1992. I have been back many times since, and attempt to visit at least once a year. "Alaska" magazine is an excellent way to keep informed about happenings in the state, especially when you can't be there personally. The articles are well written and interesting, and focus, as you would expect, is on the breathtaking outdoors, and outdoor activities. Local history, politics, and environmental issues are also well represented, as are amusing human interest stories.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Exploring the Caribbean Islands and its Many Peoples
Those who enjoy travel are fortunate when it comes to periodicals. There are many, many magazines devoted to the topic of travel and leisure, with some that are more general in content and others that are more narrow in scope. Caribbean Travel & Life is one magazine that fits into the latter category, with travel articles and general information exclusive to the Caribbean islands.
5-0 out of 5 stars Caribbean Travel & Life is the best!
Caribbean Travel & Life is the best magazine to keep you on top of what's going on in the Caribbean. New resorts are featured, and extensive information is provided for island destinations. I can't wait to open an issue after going to the mailbox. This is definitely a first class publication.
