2-0 out of 5 stars Advertising Advertising and lack of meaningful substance
I've done high end audio and video (home theater) for 20+ years and am technically proficient, audiophile, and a good sense of making things work and 'value'.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the better home theater mags out
I have a subscription to this, Stereophile and The Perfect Vision. I would definately say I prefer Home Theater mag to the other 2. In this magazine it definately has something for everyone, full equipment reviews to DVD reviews. I definately enjoy reading this magazine. I would also have to say it is quite flexible for different budgets for different people.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best Magazines ever, Or at least that's how theywould review it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect.
Buying video equipment used to be pretty straightforward but now that you can or are about to commit 4 figures or perhaps even 5 to 6 figures towards television and a video system - you will find the most unbiased and smartest answers from PERFECT VISION.4-0 out of 5 stars My favorite HT magazine
The biggest complaint I have it that it's not published every month. There are some minor mistakes in reviews and like most current audio/HT magazines (except for the hard to find Audio Critic) they follow the subjective review approach, but the reviewers are mostly very knowledgeable. The movie reviews are far and away the best of the HT magazines; you'll find reviews of lesser known gems, entire director's oeuvres, and expanded depth special articles.

5-0 out of 5 stars TPV: Best mix of Home Theatre Equipment & Film Reviews
Our family subscribes to most of the popular home theatre publications and, though many are good, we feel The Perfect Vision (TPV, for short) is the best overall. Some publications are mostly "equipment-centered" while others are predominantly "film-centered", but TPV strikes a great balance between the two.A typical issue might feature about 10-12 in-depth home theatre product reviews (with products at varying price/performance levels), a Buyer's Guide that addresses a particular class of equipment (e.g., AV Receivers), an in-depth article highlighting a particular film maker or film (e.g., Stanley Kubrick), and about 40-45 short but very well-written film reviews.TPV also provides easy-to-understand background articles that help you keep up with new developments in home theatre technologies (and related industry politics). Finally, the TPV writing style is articulate and lively (it's just plain fun to read!). ... 4-0 out of 5 stars High end drool catcher
This is not a magazine for someone looking to spend $1500 on a home theatre setup. But it *will* introduce you to a whole new world of high end home automation and audio/visual products. While I'm not planning on spending $85k on my next entertainment center renovation, there *are* elements of these systems that fall within my price range, and the breadth of products reviewed helps me to understand where the pieces I choose fall into the overall pecking order.
2-0 out of 5 stars More like Interior Decorating than Electronic Home
This magazine emphasizes articles on really expensive professional home theater installations with lots of emphasis on photos and much less on technical details.Product reviews are shallow (Why you need this:It's way cool!).After a few issues you get tired of nothing new, especially if you're on a budget or a DIYer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Magazine
I love this magazine. It is great for anyone that wants to be on the cutting edge.I also like the fact that they give prices on each product they review. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars An okay mag that seems driven by ad revenue
The first impression I got on reading an issue was that the magazine is a mouthpiece for its advertiser's products. Seldom does one see a review that rates equipment in an "average" or, heaven forbid, "junk" status!
1-0 out of 5 stars The "Motortrend" of Home theater magazines.
This magazine is brought to you by the folks that wrote "Stereo Review." Only now they have a new name. This is the magazine that never met a piece of audio gear they did not like. They never compare various products against each other (in any meaningful way). They exclusively review gear made by the big (mostly Japanese) electronics firms and never touch upon the many wonderful & affordable equipment made by the small scale American, European and Chinese manufacturers.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor equipment analysis and comparisons
S&V is a magazine that one would read if he/she were going to purchase a piece of home theater equipment and wanted to feel good about it.I don't think I have ever read a review of a piece of equipment that this magazine did not like.Very poor comparisons analysis and subjective reviews led me to stop reading this magazine.Home Theater and The Perfect Vision are much better mags if you want insightful reviews and comparisons of home theater gear. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Beware the title
From the title of this magazine, one would expect to see how consumer electronics are being integrated into our everyday lives. I expected Martha Stewart Living cum Stereo Review. But that is not what one gets here. What one gets is a drier version of Stereo Review that covers cell phones, computers, and other wired and wireless technologies along with stereos.
