People is a weekly American magazine of celebrity and human interest stories,the magazine runs a roughly mix of celebrity and human interest stories,People is perhaps best known for its yearly special issues naming "The 50 Most Beautiful People", "The Best and Worst Dressed", and "The Sexiest Man Alive".Ithink people magazine is a wonderful magazine because I can keep in touch on what is happy to the actors and actress. What the good movies are that are good for me to watch. I think ya'll do a good job with the magazine. It is worth reading every time I get it.People also includes reviews of new books, cds and movies.
Enjoyable
An interesting and enjoyable magazine if you like reading about celebs. If not: This is not the magazine for you. Very rarely will you see someone on the cover of people for being involved in politics or saving someone's life or whatever. Instead you'll learn about Branjelina's baby, the ongoing divorce struggles of Jess and Nick, and other such stuff. People is the best
I've been buying this magazine since it first came out. I let my subscription lapse for a few months and sure missed getting People in the mail on Fridays. It's back and I'm glad!!

Same old song and dance
I echo the same gripe that other reviewers have voiced here: The magazine covers the same handful of people week after week after boring week.How many times is a reader going to see no talents such as Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes joke, and THE most overrated, overhyped people of all time Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the cover and not get tired of it?
Tinsel talk
Once years ago 'People' would have, if I am not mistaken , articles on people outside the worlds of glitz and tinsel. Now it seems to have degenerated into another kind of low- pop-culture mag which belongs to what Mencken called 'the booboisie'.

Has Seen Much Better Days
I used to really like US magazine. I have been collecting every issue each week for several years now. But wait! Has anyone else noticed that this magazine has drastically changed since the beginning of this year? Where are all the interesting articles and info on the celebrities, movies and music? There's no more than a thumbnail's sketch of info on anything now. It's all photos and quickie hype. It has no more substance. What happened to this good magazine?

Delivery Problems!
Why is it that Us Weekly can't get a copy to me weekly?Sometimes three weeks will go by without an issue.Then I'll receive three in one week.Us Weekly assures me that everything is normal and that they ship them just as soon they come off the printing presses.I'm not buying their story or the magazine again.

As an avid gossip lover and big-time magazine reader, I whole-heartedly recommend US Weekly as the best magazine subscription you will buy this year.As a woman in her twenties who subscribes to all of the celebrity magazines, I would have to say that US Weekly is hands down the most entertaining magazine of them all.They have the most up to date photos, pretty accurate stories, and entertaining staff writers.Their weekly columns on "Who Wore It Best" and "Fashion Police" are laugh out loud funny.

Do you like learning?
I've actually met people who have said, "I'm too old to learn new things." And younger folk who have said, "That's too much like being in class." If you're one of these people, don't bother with Mental Floss magazine, or with going to school any more, or for that matter, with continuing to be alive in the first place. Living is learning, and this magazine helps edify and entertain you while you're doing all that living and learning. Most highly recommended.
Wonderful,silly trivia!
This is truly one of my favorite magazines!It's been a favorite gift for friends and I know that it is being passed to others so each issue gets multiple readings.Of course, my issues are safely in my home library since some things are too good to share.

Step back from the cover Oprah
Regardless of the quality of the magazine, it is really annoying to see Oprah on every single cover! and to make it worst, she does not pick "regular Oprah shots", instead you look at every issue's front cover and ask yourself "How did they take that picture? She doesn't even look like her!" It's as if Oprah is telling all of us "See how I can look like?" Every month is just a new testimony from Oprah, that money does do wonders.

About two years ago, Vanity Fair was not only the best magazine of the year, but maybe all time.I would read it from cover to cover.

I don't normally like glossy magazines that think too much of themselves, I think that they were invented to be dumped on coffee tables to look good when you have visitors around for coffee but if you want a really good and intelligent read, buy TIME or Newsweek.

the best magazine ever !
This is a great mag full of interesting story's and poem's.I have been getting this mag for about a year know and at the end of the month I can't wait to get Cricket.I also like it because it doesen't have any adds.It has great fantasy and history story's. You should try this great magazine.

Made me who I am today
I received a gift subscription to this magazine from my aunt when I was 8 years old and kept every single issue I got in the mail until I turned 18 and my mother refused to keep paying for it (it is rather expensive). I have reread the hundreds of issues I have over and over and savored every possible detail. Because of this magazine, I became a happy appreciator of quality children's literature. Cricket doesn't talk down to children but respects their natural intelligence and curiosity. Fiction stories coexist with nonfiction, poems mingle with crosswords, beautiful illustrations appear next to photographs. A great way to start a lifelong passion for reading!
I was introduced to Cricket magazine through one of my teachers in early elementary school, and soon afterward my parents began a subscription for me. From then all the way up through middle school I devoured each issue cover-to-cover the moment it arrived. At first I found it a welcome challenge compared to the overly simple and mundane classroom books of the "Mac the cat sat on a mat" variety. Even after I had surpassed the magazine in my reading ability, I continued to enjoy it for the content of the stories. Even my mother loved to read it.Read more

Great buy!
After checking the exorbitant prices of foreign magazines and Billboard Magazine I love my suscription to Rolling Stone Magazine. Yes, I wholeheartedly agree with the good folks that say that too many uneventful acts are being given undue praise. And yes, obviously it is not the same magazine of yesteryears. I do recognize the fact that times are indeed changing all the time and Rolling Stone has changed as well. But seriously folks, where else you are going to find the awesome deal of a Rolling Stone suscription? Talk about affordable to the masses. Yes, I checked the prices for Uncut, Mojo, Melody Maker? (or something like that) and the prices were downright ridiculous. Not everyone has the inclination to dish out $9-$12 dollars for a sucription. Oh yes, the English have the edge, their magazines are sooo vital, no air between the ears type music journalism, more and more accolades for them and abuse and criticism for Rolling Stone. I agree some of their reviews such as James Brown's "Live at the Apollo" making it a 5 star album is just not so and I bought it for the review. All these Hip-Hop taking center stage, all these blank acts that have yet to make their mark, but hey, you know what? It informs you, it lets you know what is going on out there and once in a while some serious journalism is to be enjoyed. All the politics pisses me off but some of the more dark essays sometimes grab my attention, but here is the grabber: For the same price of the ridiculous expensive imported magazines you can buy a lifetime suscription from Rolling Stones! I mean, till the day you cross the treshold and all the earthly subjects will no longer have any bearing in the state of things. If you are 20 that is 40, 50, 60 years of delivery to your door. What does that break down to? Actually and I am no Mathematician but I am sure it breaks down to Zero for an all American Music Magazine. Take your criticism overseas because Rolling Stone is a great buy any way you slice it and you can take that to the bank. Some awesome reporters have graced the covers of this magazine so do not give me any flak and some great articles too! Boo Whoo, Boo Whoo, Rolling Stone is a great buy, now what?!

Too bad they care less about music and more about what they think may be cool
I read rolling stone for the music and those who make it, not for some guilt ridden, agenda blasting editorial team that feels their politics (and guilt at being so much the establishment they wish they could hate) is something we should all read about at nauseum. when they stick to music, it's good, when they parade their shreiking political views, it's boring.
One star reviewers are correct.
Anyone with a good taste in music will hate this magazine, as it only rates bad bands from bad genres good reviews and whatever good bands are listed, are often given bad reviews.Its all pretentious pop-culture drivel for the conformist, weak-willed mainstream American.

Worth your consideration
Harper's, like the Atlantic and The New Yorker is written for those looking for more in-depth analysis and coverage on political and cultural affairs with a sampling of serious literary prose.Personally I prefer the Atlantic, which I read regularly, only picking up Harper's when I have time and something in it interests me, which is usually two or three times a year.
subscription foul-up
I've read many positive reviews of this magazine and I did receive, several months ago, a trial issue. After sending in the subscription fee, I was billed again. I wrote a note letting them know that the check had been endorsed and deposited. Yesterday, I got a notice telling me my subscription had expired after one issue. I give up. It might be good, but customer service is really lousy. What a disappointment.

A rich mix with bias to the Left
Harper's has been in business since 1850 and has published some of the greatest American- writers , from Mark Twain on down. Its editor and tone- setter is the veteran journalist Lewis Lapham. It publishes fiction, and articles including interesting symposia on many aspects of American economic, political and cultural life. It attracts the big - names in all areas, and also provides a lot of human - interest material, statistical curiosities, historical information and stories.

Enjoyable magazine and wonderful resource
I have been subscribing to this book magazine for over 2 years. During that time, I have been exposed to so many wonderful books and authors that I never would have heard of.
Forget the bookstore--just read Bookmarks!
This magazine has it all, and you don't have to leave the comfort of your living room! Smart, savvy book reviews...highlights on different genres such as the crime novel or non-fiction books...spotlights on successful book clubs...and outstanding feature articles on classic and modern authors. Everyone from John Steinbeck to John Cheever. Reading Bookmarks makes me want to revisit old books and try new ones; It also turns me on to authors I've never "tried" before. Recently I started reading books by Amoz Oz because of the feature in a recent issue. And I would have never given authors like Jodi Picoult or Kevin Brockmeier a chance had I not read the reviews of their latest. In addition to all the great goods on books, the magazine is one of the best looking mags on the market--great color, fantastic pictures, and an easy-to-read layout.
Get your book club organized!
This magazine is a great way to get a book club to focus on what to read next. Basically the magazine is a collection of all sorts of "Best" lists to suit every taste. The "Selections" page starts with a collection of "staff favorites"highlighted with a one-(don't bother)-to-five(rarely given, a timeless classic) star rating system. There's a digest of 27 "best books 2005" lists in a recent issue, a page on the Whitbread awards, a selection of current and upcoming books, reader recommendations, new in paperback, a year in books (e.g., 1981)etc. Coupled with very little advertising, it's great! ... A Poor-Man's PEOPLE magazine
This is not a TV guide.The one in my newspaper (Los Angeles Times) is better, and that's saying A LOT! This new TV Guide is more of a poor relative of People magazine what with it's short articles, gossip, movie news, etc.There isn't even a daytime listing.And, as with the TV guide in the newspaper, I guess there is no TV after midnight, as that's when the grid stops.Ridiculous!I guess we just have to stay up all night and click back and forth to see what's on after midnight, and the duration of each show.No wonder traditional television no longer exists.And because it doesn't, that makes TV Guide not necessary.

Worst of the Worst
The TV GUIDE was once a valuable weekly periodical for finding out what was playing when and where on our televisions. Everything was listed by date, time and channel. It was that simple. It has now evolved into a nightmare of cross-referencing and incoherence. There are also enormous gaps where programming is not even listed. I believe that television was once labeled to something synonymous to a vast wasteland. The TV GUIDE has now evolved into a vast wasteland unto itself.

The best toddler magazine
I work with babies and toddlers and have young twin grandsons.I give all the toddlers I love a subscription to BabyBug.The kids love it and look forward to Kim and Carrots' next adventures.The art is gorgeous with beautiful diverse families depicted.I wish I'd had it when my kids were little.

Good way to cultivate love of reading!
I am a new subscriber, and I love these little books. Though the format and writing is simple, the books are perfect for young babies and toddlers. My toddler loves to flip through these books, and so do I [the illustrations are lavish and beautiful].

In defense of Babybug...
I noticed in another review that someone didn't think Old King Cole was an appropriate choice for a baby book because of the "pipe," but I thought I'd mention (since my baby LOVES Babybug-- at 25 months, she still picks these books off the shelf all the time) that the illustration accompanying this classic, unavoidable Mother Goose rhyme clearly shows that Old King Cole has bubble soap in his "bowl" and is blowing bubbles with his "pipe."This actually makes way more sense to me than most other Old King Cole illustrations (why does an old king need a bowl and a pipe?not to mention his fiddlers three), and I finally have an explanation for why he would want a pipe in the first place!

entertainment industry's primary outlet
Variety is the New York Times of the entertainment world (in the USA). It's expenseive, but if you're seriously into show biz (for a living or otherwise) it's indispensible. You'll get info and reveiews way before anyone else, casting notices for film and TV, huge supplimental issues about each film/media festival, production updates (wondering what your favorite director's next film will be and where it is in the production cycle? It'll say here - whether they're in based in Hollywood, the Ukraine, or anywhere in the trackable entertainment world)Read more

Fun, educational, book that grows with your child
Our daughter was given a subscription to this magazine at 1 1/2 years old and absolutely loves each issue. The monthly book / magazine is very durable and is the size of a board book which makes them perfect for little hands to hold and also for traveling out and about of your home with. This is also very nice and easy to read for a bedtime story.
Enjoying the magazine in France
As Americans living abroad, it's great to find such a good magazine in english that can be delivered to our home--and at such a reasonable price. The first issue came quickly too. The content is really cute and appropriate and there are no ads. A great gift indeed!

Excellent first magazine for your toddler!
I got this for my daugther at 18 months due to her love of reading and animals and we have been delighted with the three issues we have received so far.Each issue is about 6x7 inches, 23 color pages on heavy duty cardstock (think thick magazine pages, not board book cardboard). The binding seems to hold up to her many readings and re-readings, though it certainly shows wear like everything else she gets her hands on!

Why buy here?
I'll let others argue whether or not the quality of the magazine has subsided over the years. I, for one, still get something out ofthe writing. Can't do without my monthly dose of Harper's and The Atlantic.
Overall, a worthwhile, stimulating and important periodical
The Atlantic is a classic cultural, political and literary voice of America.First published by a team that included legendary icons such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Oliver Wendell Holmes and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, this periodical went on to include articles from great historical figures such as Mark Twain, Woodrow Wilson and Martin Luther King Jr.It may be hard to place current contributors next to those specific individuals who came before them, but they do stand tall with contemparies published in similar venues.
A younger eye...
I'm 25 years old and new to The Atlantic [Monthly]. Not having read the publication for some twenty-odd decades like the rest of the reviewers, my opinion is this: The magazine is wonderful. It's infinitely more literate and illuminating than most other periodicals. I'm letting my subscription to TIME run out (talk about an "also-ran"...).

FULL of advertisements for your kids
When you watch commercial children's television, you have to accept the commercials because, after all, the programs are "free". But when you pay to subscribe to Nickelodeon magazine, I don't expect for it so be so full of alluring ads targeting children. These ads appear similar to the editorial content. It seems like 50% of the pages are advertisements!
Great Kids Magazine
This is one of my favorite magazines. It tells you about shows and new ones, movies, celebreties, and more! It also has some interviews with actors/actresses. It has fun puzzles and comics. I love the Scene but Not Heard comics. They are hilarious! Overall, I would get this magazine if I were you.
