5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Banjo Mag
The "Banjo Newsletter" has been around for many years and continues to be "the" source for all things banjo. The articles are written in everyday language and are very helpful. All aspects are covered from beginner to advanced players with all styles including frailing, old time, bluegrass, jazz, backup and new age. There is information on current happenings as well as historical information. I know of no other single source of banjo information that is by and for banjo players of all ages and skill levels. It is highly reccommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great magazine
This magazine fills a niche for serious banjo players who are interested in conventions, jams, new products, technical tips and specific samples of new and traditional music.I look forward to each issue.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jose Da Silveira
Yvette Linton-Smith and many other women can attest to the absolute love and passion as shown in his work of the desire and wanting of the female form. Mr. Da Silveira has no reason or motive to be with a woman other than the fact that he cares for the passion and friendship. Mr. Da Silveira sexual preferences as all people in no way should be the concern of the paparazzi/press...

5-0 out of 5 stars JOSE DA SILVEIRA REALLY DATING AN AUSSIE OR IS IT A PLOY
I am not the only to think Jose Da Silveira is not straight. Now that his carrer is back on track, the affirmation of his gayness would be terribly damaging. I believe this is the reason this Yvette Linton-Smith has been hired to go along for a while to make sure ppeople, mainly women can look at him with envy and desire and continue supporting him. Imagine what would happen to his carrer if he turned out to be gay....just your little detective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Princess Heaven
Our daughter has had a subscription to this magazine for the last two years and we just renewed the subscription for another year. She will be 6 in a month and looks forward to receiving a new issue every other month. She loves reading the new princess stories in each issue and doing the object finds along with the other activities.I look forward to reading it with her as well.It is a well written magazine with fun activities.

4-0 out of 5 stars Got for neice's b-day
My neice loves this. I got this for her 4th Birthday. She started reading when she was 3, so this is great to continue honing her skills.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pricey!
And I am not talking about the subscription! My problem with this magzine is that there is SO much advertising in it - all from Disney.I know it's their magazine, so they're entitled to do it, but my daughter did (some of) the activities, and then treated it like a catalog - "Mommy, can we get this?, Mommy - look at the movie coming out!".We switched to Sparkle magazine which has NO advertising in it - just D.W., Angelina Ballerina, and other favorite girl characters.Yes, it's got all the Disney Princesses, but you may feel like the evil stepmother after having to say no to all the "I want"s. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Ricordo di Roma! (Souvenir of Rome)
La Settimana Enigmistica has to be the world's best puzzle magazine. When I lived in Rome, I bought it every week at the local kiosk. It is full not only of crosswords, but also of intricate puzzles, such as anagrams, monoverbs, changes of vowels or consonants, cryptograms, and other brain teasers--all in Italian. It also has cartoons. The puzzles begin easy, and become harder later in the book.
3-0 out of 5 stars The big problem is delivery
The magazine itself is the classic Italian puzzle magazine, but the delivery to the U.S. is unreliable--it runs routinely 2 weeks behind, and can go as much as a month before two or three issues show up together.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great magazine!
I got hooked on this magazine while living in Italy - I'd buy it every week without fail! Good crosswords, comics and brainteasers will keep you occupied and will help you if you're brushing up on your italian.(However, you should have a pretty good grasp of the language before attempting any of the puzzles)

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Quick Reads
I recently took a trip to the beach and brought along my ESPN mag to play in the sand. Good quick tidbits and interesting focuses "personal" side of the players. I have always been a fan of the design of this mag. I would like to see some more in depth articlesin the future but overall worth the cover price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Where is it?
I still haven't gotten a copy yet?It's been a month.

2-0 out of 5 stars A little bit of everything, but not much of anything
ESPN the Magazine falls somewhere between The Sporting News and Sports Illustrated.SI gives in depth articles about the athletes of the game and the games/teams themselves, but not much in the way of stats and analysis.TSN dives deep on the stats and analysis.ESPNTM gives you the superficialities of both.Sadly, the only reason I continue to renew my ESPNTM subscription is because its the cheapest way to keep up my ESPN Insider web subscription. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME UP TO THE MINUTE CELEB MAG!
I LOVE THIS MAGAZINE! IT HAS UP TO THE MINUTE, NEED TO KNOW CELEB NEWS. HONESTLY MOST OF THE TIME WHAT THEY SAY IN THESE "TABLOID" MAGAZINES TURNS OUT TO BE TRUE- JESSICA SIMPSON SPLIT, AND BRAD AND ANGELINA, JEN AND VINCE, JUST TO NAME A FEW....ALSO THERE'S MOVIE/DVD/MUSIC REVIEWS, MAKEUP AND FASHION TIPS, AND THE CLOTHES THEY HAVE IN THERE ARE AFFORDABLE SO YOU CAN DRESS LIKE YOUR FAVORITE CELEB. I LOOK FORWARD TO EACH WEEK GETTING THIS MAGAZINE!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Info, Bad Ads
I like the information brought forth in this magazine. Some things were relevant, some not (25 steps to cleaning my car is not very relevant). The only gripe I had with this mag is the effluous flow of Viagara and "Better Sex" video ads sprawled throughout the magazine-- I counted SEVEN such ads in one issue! My kids love to read "This Old House" and "Old House Journal," but "Family Handyman" was off limits. Too bad. To the magazine writers: Not EVERY handyman-type magazine reader is a man, and not EVERY magazine reader needs to be bombarded with the same crap that floods my email inbox.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Product but Misunderstood Process for Gift
This is the third time I have purchased Handyman Magazine for family members as gifts. This time, I misunderstood how to gift the item.Unfortunately, I did not have a second chance to send the magazine to a family member as a Christmas Gift. After calling, the only recourse I was given was to to refuse the magazine when it comes (because it is coming to me instead of my son in Atlanta), call and cancel the order and reorder.Unfortunately, doing this, it will not reach my son in time for Christmas.I would like to see something built into the system that gives a second chance to bill me, but send as a gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars A bit glossy and "staged", but info and tips are great!
My ONLY gripe with this magazine is that the pictures are like those you would find in GQ magazine: they hire models to show you driving a nail or shoveling dirt for that new patio. These people use only brand new tools (brand name label showing of course) in a perfect-world dust free environment. The pictures make it look like it's a Sears catalogue.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource
This magazine has something for woodworkers at every level, from raw beginner to professional. The mix of articles includes side by side product comparisons, how-to pieces at different levels, tool sharpening hints, finishing materials and techniques, and photo galleries of magnificent work.
3-0 out of 5 stars Great for starting out, but now i'm bored
After 6 years I'm finally letting my subscription end. Its a great magazine for starting out, but after a while the articles begin seeming to be very alike. New ideas are now a rarity in Fine Woodworking, and that was the original reason that I subscribed. There are very few technique articles and too many tool reviews. And I've become skeptical of those review articles--primarily because many, but not all, are not rigorous scientific tests and are subject to the author's preferences, yet those articles are not presented that way.Furthermore, I believe that the magazine in general has dropped considerably in quality and definitely in content over the past few years. I'd have given it 5 stars in the begining, but now its just average.

5-0 out of 5 stars Only subscription that lasted
I jumped into woodworking four years ago and have had 5 woodworking magazine subscriptions over the four years. I started with Fine Woodworking and now it's all that's left. Nothing else compares.

2-0 out of 5 stars Order the UK version
I'm a big player of PC games, but I also love reading and thinking about my favorite hobby. For the past few years I've been living in the UK, but when I come to the US (and now that I live here again) I would pick up the American version of PC Gamer.
3-0 out of 5 stars Why not call itself MMO Gamer?
I subscribe to both PC gamer and PC Gaming magazine. Overall, I think the writing in PC gamer is much more puerile. Like gradeschool kids with a 'girls have cooties' mentality, PC gamer strives to keep this gaming magazine a clubhouse where girls/women need not apply. Captions which critique the amount of cleavage a female character is showing, and discuss getting laid in MMO seem to cater to the teenage boy mindset.
3-0 out of 5 stars Good but Dated
Though I have not received my first edition in the mail yet as my order was placed just five weeks ago (I buy copies at the store until my subscription finally starts)... I figured the magazine without CD's is worth the $2.25 per copy it averages for the subscription.Agree with most... not what it used to be but always nice to get a magazine about games in the mail. Maybe it will become again what it once was... I am an optimist. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The magazine
This is the only music magazine you ever need to read. This is what Rolling Stone should aspire to be. There is really nothing more to say than if you like music this is all there is.

4-0 out of 5 stars It was great while it lasted....
I am a big fan of this magazine, but even more so of the "free" cd--when it is good, it is very good.So I finally subscribed despite the stiff price. Two issues came, I was happy, then a third without the cd, and then...no more. After many calls and complaints, Amazon finally secured a partial refund--not exactly what I wanted. Here's hoping that the delivery problems can be worked out--maybe an opaque wrapper?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great content but delivery is problematic
As far is the writing is concerned this is a top notch rock magazine. The format is appealing and the pages are not marred by one too many ads. Another plus is the CD that comes with each issue ; this might help justify the cost. The original CD's are priceless with real gems that the average music listener may not have heard of.They choose a theme and run with it, creating an eclectic mix of artists to illustrate their theme.Take for example a few months back when it was legendary tracks from Studio One in Jaimaca where it featured little known artists among reggae afficionados like Ernest Ranglin, Michiganand Smiley next to giants like Bob Marley, The Skatalites for a complete view of the important record label of reggae. I really enjoy the monthly features including tributes to those that passed away in the month entitled"Real Gone." Old rock stars are going faster than they did in the seventies! Other good features are the brief reviews of music indexed as Filter reissues, reissues extra, tracks, buried treasurean just plain Filter Albums(current stuff). The in depth articles of the cover subject are very entertaining and what actually drew me to Mojo intiallyfor information. There is one draw back for US subsrcibers, it is a long way acros the pond and problems will occurr. In the last year my problems have been as follows: was receiving my issues two weeks after the stores had copies, missing CD's. To their credit both problems were solved in spite of having to send three issues so that I would finally get my ripped off CD,it was stole twice! Subscriber beware. Sending it in clear plastic with the words CD inside is just an invitation to a thief. Otherwise it is maybe the best rock music magazine out there and I defintely recommend the Brits perspective. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still MAD after all these years....
I read MAD Magazine as a kid back in the '60's and '70's, and have always appreciated the fact that although the humor is for the most part sophmoric, many of the jokes and parodies require that you actually understand the politics/literature/history/cultural reference that's being lampooned.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Single Best Magazine Ever Made
What paved the way for satire movies such as "Airplane!", "The Naked Gun" and "Scary Movie"? What else than the original source of satire, MAD Magazine!
4-0 out of 5 stars Happy About MAD
In 1986 I had my mom buy me my first issue of MAD. On the cover was a snot-nosed Garbage Pail Kid cartoon of Alfred E. Neuman puking into a barf bag. I was in heaven! My friend and his brother had turned me onto MAD a month earlier when they showed me their prized collection of over a hundred classic MADs from the seventies and early eighties. My first MAD--stained and dog-eared after just a week--was to become the first installment in a collection of MADs that now numbers in the hundreds. For the rest of my childhood I would buy every single issue of MAD to hit the newstands and would scour garage sales in my neighborhood for older issues people wanted to get rid of. Why anyone would ever want to part with a MAD magazine was beyond me in those days.

5-0 out of 5 stars best video game magazine out there
this is the only vg magazine i've ever truly enjoyed. the articles and reviews are unbiased and funny, and the Game of the Month goes to the game taht actually deserves it, not just the 'cool' game for that month. theres so much more to the magazine than just previews and reviews. they have articles relating to everything videogame related, like a monthly article about different jobs in the video game industry. but amazon really has to update the description.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hella Bangin'!!!
Talk about a hella sweeet magazine!I love this magazine, and have been subscribing since I was a little kid of 35 years of age.Bangin' reviews, bangin' cover stories.I like it tons more than other competition, such as GamePro.I highly recommend it!
3-0 out of 5 stars Unbiased Gaming Monthly
This magazine is pompous, overtly critical, and had far too little coverage of this years E3. Issues have become really thin and every issue is really hit or miss. Why then would I recommend this magazine? They are unbiased and will criticize each console and they are rightly justified to do so. I find their reviews to be frustrating since it just seems like they rarely if ever enjoy playing anything at all. Its not the best magazine but its probably the most truthful. It'll help keep any gamer balanced and their coverage of the top three consoles is consistent. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best!!!
This is probably the best magazine I subscribe to.Over the past 5 years I've noticed the quality of my other subscribed videogame magazines to have deteriorated dramatically. But this one stays true.I thought by now one would see a drop in quality, but the quality of the writing just keeps getting stronger and stronger. The demo disc, for example, continues to stay chock with demos of most current and even retro games.
3-0 out of 5 stars Another mag aimed for the male market...
This is a pretty good magazine but I wish to inform people that once again it's totally made for a male market with comments about the chicks in almost every panel and article. None of it is driven for a female audience which makes ~ I myself ~ feel like anything like games, anime and manga for a male market. Which is completely untrue. I only get this mag every now and again looking for the game reviews of the games I want and not every month because of its content and obvious male market scheme.
5-0 out of 5 stars Infinitely Better Than PSM
I've subscribed to OPM for four years now, and in that time I've never had any subscription or delivery problems. The writing staff is very intimate with their readers; it's almost like reading a magazine that a bunch of your friends wrote up. The reviews have mostly been spot-on for my tastes (compared to the awful, laughable insanity of PSM), and even though the Ziff-Davis crew members are "Official," they are fair. Also, and this is very, very important to me, their use of the English language does NOT suck like it does in PSM. The staff at PSM seem to be drunk most of the time, or maybe they just didn't make it through the second grade, I'm not sure - but their mishandling of prose is the main reason I dropped that subscription like a hot potato. OPM on the other hand seems to be written by college grads at least, and I appreciate that. Easy to read, filled with thoughtful insight, fair reviews, and a heaping helping of socially balanced humor, OPM is bar-none the best Playstation magazine you can buy. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars uuuuhhhh.....so not worth it in the end.
I love the magazine for the most part. It gets to me that it is so male oriented though. Half naked chicks, stuff about sex and prostitution are all over the place. Once you look beyond that though it is pretty good. They throw gimicks in it (like free episodes, manga, and postcards) just to get people to buy it. And even if you wanted some of the animes advertised in the magazine you couldn't afford them after paying the ridiculously high subscription price. Good info and everything but if you are on a budget you simply wouldn't be able to afford it. It's better to check the bookstores to see if there is one that you really want.

5-0 out of 5 stars Overall, a very good fan magazine
When judging NewType USA by its peers, it does very well. The magazine is full of big glossy pages of Japanese content. The DVDs are also packed with trailers and episodes each month.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Anime Magazines Available!
I cannot say enough good things about Newtype USA! The quality of this magazine is simply outstanding. Each issue features in-depth articles on at least three different animes as well as a ton of smaller articles that give you a preview of new up and coming titles. Each issue also includes a dvd with at least 3 full length episodes of the newest shows, plus at least 10 trailers for other anime titles. This magazine also contains articles on Jpop/rock bands, anime conventions, the latest in japanese merchandise, and a whole lot more.I have been a subscriber to Newtype USA for over a year and I am completely, 100% satisfied with it.I am always looking forward to the next issue and highly recommend this magazine to all anime fans. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great to grow!
My 3 year old daughter loves this magazine and so do I! It features her favorite characters from PBS, Disney, and others totally commercial free. I expect this one to grow with her as well. Some of the activities are just right and some are a bit above her and we do them together or save until she's ready. She certainly won't outgrow this magazine before her subscription runs out!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is perfect for my 2 year old
I was in the local library and saw this magazine so I checked out several issues to read to my daughter. This morning, right after breakfast, she is going through the magazine on her own!She remembered the games that we played and replaying them on her own, shewas going over the stories we read and telling me about them, and she was trying to follow the maze on her own.
5-0 out of 5 stars superb
This is not full of ads although it is full of tv characters and that in and of itself is an ad. However, it is educational with cute activities that are easily appropriate for ages 2 and up.

5-0 out of 5 stars great magazine
This is a great magazine , much better than the english version, thier edition "50 bellos" , is the best. They really know how to pick beautiful people. The latest edition of "most beautiful" in english is really disappointing. I suggest People en Espanol, el mas mejor.

I missed several issues because they were sold out at the hispanic tiendas.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally!!! A Music Magazine Worth Subscribing To
When it comes to music, culture, and overall coverage of meaningful entertainment, Paste is where it's at. Fairly a new publication (starting in July of 2002), the magazine has soared in popularity and holds its own in a marketplace saturated with bland and repetitive articles.
5-0 out of 5 stars How did they do that?
PASTE magazine was made just for me!I don't even know how it came to be...I had started to receive the now-defunct TRACKS magazine (unsolicited - - probably a last-ditch effort to build a subscriber base) and when they finally went under, I was credited with two issues of PASTE.WOW!This magazine is utterly awesome!Besides the cd (or dvd - - or sometimes both!), the music, the films, the cultural issues are all enlightening and well-written.It is obviously a labor of love for all those involved in its creation. It is literally chock-full of interesting stuff, particularly not-necessarily-mainstream stuff. In all honesty, I find the advertisements particularly helpful in turning me on to new great artists, which I probably would not have heard of otherwise.I also appreciate the thicker-than-average cover, since I tend to carry it around with me for a while, to devour it by bits and pieces in every spare moment. Each issue ends up plastered with sticky-note reminders to check out or follow-up on something or other, and I've even resorted to folding over pages of interesting articles for later reference. The magazine holds up very well to my attentive abuse. So, if you are ready to escape the pablum that the entertainment industry has been spoon-feeding you for so very long, be sure to check out PASTE.Support real artists, you won't be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loves Paste
Absolutely love this magazine. So much, I gave it as gifts to my family.Perfect for music fans tired of the same old Top 40 radio and craving for some fresh new sounds. Each isssue even comes with a compilation CD and DVD of movie shorts, videos, etc.Sometimes I feel this was created just for me. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Pretty but not much else...
I give Dragon 2 stars because it's pretty. The pages are glossy and the artwork is topnotch.I wanted to like the newest incarnation of an old favorite so much...but I don't.I'm judging it based on the Dragon I grew up with which was loaded with information and reviews of many, many different games. The majority of it was about Dungeons and Dragons, but there was still plenty of information on other games including ones not published by TSR. (for example,I distinctly remeber being introduced to the concept of a LARP via Dragon magazine) The letters column was always a high point and their was more than enough material to keep you reading for a couple of days. The new magazine, while pretty, doesn't have anywhere near as much material (I really wonder if a strip like Snarfquest would even get published in the new mag). There might be a few hours reading enjoyment in it but don't count on it.Also, what at one time was THE premier gaming magazine is now nothing more than a WOTC/Hasbro corporate magazine. If you're looking for information about anything other than Dungeons and Dragons forget it.However, if that's all you want, then it's probably an excellent buy and it is very pretty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Long time RPGer
I've been reading dragon for over 20 years now, I liked it back then and I like it even more now. The staff seem really excited about the magazine and their openness to customer feedback seems to be at an all time high. They know they can't please everyone all the time so they try to please the most people they can.If that means 1% of the people that want them aren't going to get articles on Gamma World or Top Secret well that's too bad.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine and getting better
I've been a subscriber to Dragon for 3 or 4 years.During that time, it has continued to improve. The editors are constantly listening to feedback and responding. This is a great general D&D magazine. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars THE ultimate dumbing down of the American press
Okay, so In Touch has never claimed to be anything other than what it is: A glossy tabloid. But just when you didn't think it was possible for the American tabloid press to dumb down any further, along came In Touch Weekly and US Weekly.
3-0 out of 5 stars Buy OK or US magazine instead
This magazine is more National Enquirer than the others in the genre. They seem to just fabricate their stories from thin air.
3-0 out of 5 stars In Touch Weekly
Pure gossip. Even more gossip than People..I didn't think that was possible!!!! But it is fun to read sometimes so I gave it a 3. ... Read more
