5-0 out of 5 stars Great magazine.
I have been a subscriber off and on for many years. As others have said, Dungeon has gone up and down in that time.I believe that Paizo has done a wonderful job with this magazine.I feel that I am the only on that misses the old Polyhedron addition to the magazine, adding other games to the mix.I loved the Githyanki module/magazine.My #1 favorite thus far.It is really cheap, when you consider the price of 3 modules.I know that they are short, but the 3 together are the same if not more pages of a major module, and the magazine costs about half.Toss in the extras, and you can't deny this magaizine is a great value.Probably the ONE downside, of it, is that you need about a dozen issues to have a good base of modules to choose from, when you need one in a hurry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality Improvment
As some have said, the quality of the Dungeon Magazine deteriorated around issue 95.It was bad for many, many issues, so bad that it was useless. The quality was poor and they only provided 3 short boring quests each issue.I never used any of the quests, and so I stopped my subscription because of it.The quality is back, however.I picked up a magazine the other day, and I liked two out of the three quests. They seemed imaginative and interesting, and even a little longer than before (but that might just be my imagination).I looked back, and found good quests in the two preceding issues, so I will be restarting my subscription. For those who have been disappointed with quality in the past, I urge you to check out the new issues, and see what you think.

5-0 out of 5 stars Let's be a little realistic now...
I have been purchasing Dungeon for years since its very first issue hit the stands. I have to say I am dismayed at the negativity I have seen in the reviews. Dungeon has been a fabulous resource for me over the years, when one does not always have the time to create one's own adventures. That being said, like any product, the magazine is not perfect. Let's be reasonable, very month will not yield a perfect issue. There have been months that I have found nothing that interested me. But then, let's be fair, the magazine cannot always have something for everyone, since there are a heck of a lot of everyones to cater to and you can't please them all. Each issue contains an average of 4 adventures, and the variety is always mixed. Sometimes they have special features like a single super adventure that takes up the entire magazine. As to the Polyhedron Magazine being added, that is long gone. While it was there, it added a different dimension to the magazine, with some interesting content at times. Now, Dungeon is once again its own periodical, catering to the D&D player wholly. Dungeon would be a boon to any DM that needs help making adventures for his gaming group. I recommend it to anyone who plays, for adventures, ideas, and just plain ole enjoyable reading. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Source for All My Favorite New Bands
I can give this great music magazine no greater praise than to say that pretty much all of my favorite new bands in the last couple of years have been discovered through Under the Radar. On top of that, they also write great articles on some of my pre-existing favorite bands. Under the Radar generally has much better writing than some of the other indie music mags out there (Devil In the Woods, Rockpile, Big Takeover, etc.) and fits my musical tastes perfectly.

3-0 out of 5 stars an alright magazine for music
under the radar has pretty good articles, pretty consistently.i wouldn't call it a good source for finding out about new bands, though, like others have said.i find arthur mag, wire mag, and devil in the woods mag to be a lot better for that.
5-0 out of 5 stars 2 of 2
Under the Radar and Filter are the only music magazines I come near. I hear Mojo is just as informative, renovative, and enjoyable, but I'm a little too close-minded to care about other genres I... don't care much about. Fans of rock/pop/what the kids are calling "indie"/alternative/punk/post-punk/folk/!!!!, take a gander at this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Top notch generator of chills
CEMETERY DANCE magazine is a World Fantasy Award winning magazine of horror, published bi-monthly, featuring short stories of horror and dark suspense, interviews with outstanding talent, and reviews galore. There is no shortage of opinions where products are concerned, with somewhere around forty-five reviews in every issue, including articles by writers Bev Vincent, Michael Marano, Thomas F. Monteleone, Paula Guran, Steve Vernon, John Pelan, Hank Wagner, the list goes on and on. Robert Morrish is the editor, Mindy Jarusek the managing editor.
5-0 out of 5 stars Scary, haunting stuff....
Each issue piles on the terror. Don't read this late at night! What I truly enjoy is the variety of stories. It's not just for horror fans, folks. Some of these tales are suspenseful and others just leave you sitting there thinking, "What the f*%K? That did not just happen!"
5-0 out of 5 stars You don't know what you are missing!
Since the early 80's I have been a fan of Cemetery Dance magazine. It comes every other month full of short stories by popular and up and coming horror authors. The magazine also contains great movie and book reviews, advertising, and author interviews. I encourage any horror fan to check out their website...the staff there is very friendly and helpful. On those hot summer days, it is a super mag to delve into and forget about the weather!!!! Enjoy ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Keepin' it fresh
Who can resist the mamasitas in bikinis next to some of the finest rides that bekons from the magazine racks? Not his vato. Seriously though this magazine is a nice reference point for ideas for customizing your ride. If you have an old ranfla(classic car) that needs modificationthan this is the place to shop for ideas . If you don't own one you can always dream. Need some rims? There are countless pages of sugestions. There are some serious cruisers in Lowriderthat are some of the tightest machines you will ever see. This magazine has come a long ways from it's intial days to create a nice colorful glossy representation of some tricked out rides. 5-0 out of 5 stars Cicada
Cicada is the best literature magazine around. It's stylish, refreshing, and just all around great. Includes beautiful poems, uplifting stories, and wonderful non-fiction. It's written partially by readers themselves, who send in their works to get published. This is my all-time favorite magazine, and probably always will be. Whenever I get a Cicada in the mail, I drop everything and read it cover-to-cover right where I am. It's so artsy, creative, and beautiful. The perfect gift for a writer/poet teen-Cicada will inspire, breathe life into, and carry him or her far, far away.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Mix
I've been getting this magazine since freshman year, and I'm only now, as a senior, really beginning to appreciate the mix of stories in every issue. We just finished our short story unit in English class, and I'm now rereading my favorites from the past few years. This magazine is sold as 14+, but some of the stories offer pathways much deeper into the literary world-what comes to mind is James Baldwin's Sonny's Blues paired with Langton Hughes' poem Harlem. I'm now doing a research project on Baldwin, but Sonny's Blues remains one of my favorites of all of his work I've read so far. Cicada is perfect for those years in between children's books and college reading when some teenagers lose interest in reading for pleasure due to required reading for school.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for kids to whom Cricket is gotten old hat

2-0 out of 5 stars hhmm....Nope....
I'de have never read Vibe in the first place, but i won a free years subscription in some online contest. And i must also mention i'm a huge fan of hip-hop and hip-hop culture, so i'de think Vibe would be tight.....daamn, was i ever wrong.First off, half the mag is Advertising....then what little reading there is....it's all bullsh**.The interviews they have with artists are totally weak & watered down. They never ask any worthwhile questions.Vibe also contradicts itself constantly. In one issue, they'll give an album a low rating & a poor review, then at the end of the year they name that same album one of the years best....what the f***?Vibe has it's decent moments, but i def. won't be paying for it anytime soon.
1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid at all costs
I started reciving Vibe magazine in the mail announced and unexpected. This wouldn't be the first time this happened, turns out my Grandmother bought me People magazine as a gift and the copies were sent to my house. I figured that somebody had got me this magazine as a gift. Next thing I know a charge for the magazine appears on my bank statement.
5-0 out of 5 stars Worth my money!
This magazine is ill!I learn about all the new albums coming out, read the review, and if they say they are good, i go outand buy 'em.The reviews are also accurate, giving the appropiate number of stars. I also love the sections on the new artists on the verge. The cover stories never seem to dis-please me, always givin' me plent of info. The mini articles are cool, too, from stuff like Warren's Sapp's all-star football team, to all about how Mike Jones was discovered. One last thing I love about the magazine - they are never thin issues, and you know what that means!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars to the people who claim that it's "not what it used to be"
music is constantly changing and evolving, and so is AP. if you want to keep reading about sublime, etc, go dig up your old AP's. you can't expect AP to cover the same bands over and over again. despite what you think, AP has always been, and always will be, devoted to mostly mainstream music. by "alternative", they dont mean alternative to the top 40, they mean the alternative genre, which by definition can't be confined in a genre. most alternative music now, and in the past, is very popular and mainstream.

5-0 out of 5 stars Some of the best science fiction shorts out there
Regular readers of my reviews are probably getting sick of me mentioning Kage Baker, but I have to credit her for getting me to try a lot of things that I wouldn't normally try if she hadn't been a part of them.Asimov's Science Fiction magazine is another time where this is the case. While I have boughtFantasy & Science Fiction magazine every month for a while now, I would also check Asimov's to see if it had a Baker story. If it did, I would buy it.What I have found, however, is that I have enjoyed most of the other stories in the issues I have bought as well. Thus, from now on I will be buying it every month too.
5-0 out of 5 stars Possibly the greatest SF magazine in existence.
I would encourage everyone to subscribe, and help support the magazine. Asimov's Science Fiction (along with Fantasy & Science Fiction, and Analog Science Fiction & Fact) is truly the lifeblood of the science fiction genre. Short fiction has the unique advantage of being able to develop new worlds in a shorter amount of space than one might find in a novel, although in many cases a large portion of this world-building is left to the reader's imagination. Thus, good short fiction is able to convey a true sense of transaction between writer and reader, giving the impression that more has been said than has actually been specifically stated.5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
This magazine is simply the best SF out there! Every issue goes well over 100 pages and it's a monthly! The June Issue has some great storys in it, so go pick it up at your local convience store, now! This magazine is awesome! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This mag........
.....ROCKS!!!!! First thing, I am not a kid, but it is quicker to use this option. Aaanyways...this magazine is amazing. It features a very wide range of bands, but not in an annoying way. I mean, if you were into death metal and it kept having loads of punk, that would be annoying, and vice versa. There are so many different parts to it....and check out Pandora, the rockin cartoon with the rockin star and her HOT dreadlocked sidekick Wek.....lol!
5-0 out of 5 stars the standard by which all others should be measured
Absolutely brilliant magazine- shame the U.S. does not have an equivalent.Very well-written and informative; I've found out about more bands through this mag than any other I've read. Much more professional than its American counterparts (Metal Edge, Circus, etc).Covers all sorts of metal/rock bands, from Linkin Park to Slayer. This is a British weekly magazine- not a monthly- so the cost is high but well worth it if you can afford it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest rock magazine
Kerrang! is by far the most informative rock magazine that has ever been published!I can count on Kerrang! to get the best interviews, be up to date, and get the facts straight from the mouths of the musicians. Its a hard to find magazine in the US, but if you can spare the money it is well worth your dollar if your intereseted in the world of hard rock. They also cover a wide range of bands that the US wouldn't even touch, and are always turning you on to new music with free CDs. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Craptacular!!!
I am utterly disappointed in the direction that Gamepro has taken over the past two years. I actually stopped my subscription for about 1 year, but came back to the 20 issues for $10 at their (10?) year anniversary.I forget. But the magazine is really bad.
1-0 out of 5 stars 10 years ago, I'd have given it five stars.
There is absolutely no reason to buy this horrid excuse for a gaming magazine. Maybe it's because the brand-new games are downright bland and shallow compared to the simplicity and charm of 8 to 32-bit eras. Maybe it's because they constantly put stupid ads in it that have nothing to do with gaming at all (Nature's Cure, I'm looking in your direction!). Maybe it's because their new layout looks absolutely boring and sterile compared to the excellence of the mid-'90s layout. Maybe it's because they continue to slam certain games and series like the Sonic games where they say that Sonic 2 was the last great game. Maybe it's because their reviews aren't any interesting to read. Maybe it's because the staff tries too hard to inject humor and their writing is absolutely shallow. Maybe it's because they failed to realize they did so much better in the '90s. Maybe it's all of those things. Yeah, that's the one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sometimes good, sometimes not
I am writing simply for the magazine. The disc doesn't matter to me. Usually this magazine is so awesome, I can't stop reading it. Other times, I have to withstand waiting a whole month for my next one because I finished after reading for a minute. Take my advice, and read it at the store before buying. You'll be glad you did.

3-0 out of 5 stars xbox magazine falls short
Even though I own an Xbox, I haven't gotten a subscription to this magazine because I find that, for the most part, GameInformer (which I do have a subscription to) tends to have much better reviews for Xbox games than the so-called "official Xbox magazine".That being said, I do occasionally pick up an Xbox magazine from a local newsstand just to catch up on the world of Xbox mania, and I do admit that their coverage of the newly released Xbox 360 is quite exemplary. However, I don't recommend you get this magazine if you are looking for the Xbox demo discs. Why?BECAUSE THIS MAGAZINE DOESN'T HAVE THEM (another reason for the 3-star rating).

5-0 out of 5 stars A Proven Track Record of Excellence
Fantasy&ScienceFiction magazine has been around since 1949, and is in my opinion one of the better SciFi and fantasy mags on the market. It has a proven track record of publishing outstanding short stories, novellas, and novelettes that have later gone on to win Hugo, Nebula, and dark fantasy awards, which brings me to the 2006 June issue of the magazine: The June issue features an outstanding and very creepy novella entitled Hallucigenia by Laird Barron. I predict an award for this chilling novella, which will be just another in a long and esteemed list of award worthy tales from Fantasy&ScienceFiction.
4-0 out of 5 stars The Best Digest for Fantasy
With its cheap pricetag and thick size, Fantasy & Science Fiction is definately one of the best. It splits it pages into fantasy & science fiction stories and novellas with a few common columns between (book reviews and strange facts). If you write fantasy or science fiction, pick magazine up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its more than the beginner or mainstream guitarist needs
I've subscribed to Guitar Player for a little over a year now.It seems like a great magazine that attempts to cover all of the bases of guitar playing. It has reviews and interviews with everyone from pretentious guitar heros to down-to-earth acoustic players and punk rockers. There are quite a lot of ads but they are expected for such a magazine. There are CD reviews based off of the guitarist's aspect also.
4-0 out of 5 stars Better than the rest
Let me say at the outset that I'm not a big fan of tab. Figuring out songs on your own provides a greater lesson than simply following along with tabs. Besides, there are scores of free tab sites on the web, so if you really need to know how to play a song and can't figure it out on your own or simply don't have the time, get to surfing.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Guilty Pleasure That I'm Proud To Read
When I was living in London last year I randomly came upon heat and was INSTANTLY addicted. My flatmates and I would go back and forth between buying it week after week. I couldn't wait for Tuesday to role around so I could get the next issue. heat not only has great paparrazi photos, but it's hilarious. Whoever the writers are, they're genius. I love the sense of humor and teasing of celebrities. I especially love that they don't validate celebs for getting increasingly skinny and unhealthy, such as every American counterpart does.

5-0 out of 5 stars Read the Best
I think that Heat is the best magazine out there.I religously buy it every Tuesday when I'm in England, and when I'm back in the states, I make my boyfriend go through the embarassment of buying it and have him send it to me.The best thing about it though, is they don't sugar coat the stories. They tell it like it is, or show it like it is!By far my favorite celeb mag from any country!

5-0 out of 5 stars Once a week is not enough!
Heat has got to be the best goss magazine ever!I've never really enjoyed People or any of those crap American magazines at the checkout of virtually every supermarket.Brit celebs are so much more interesting! After my very first issue, I was hooked. The pics, the gossip, the headlines, the stories.....I read it cover-to-cover in one sitting! And I wanted MORE!Heat, you just cannot put down.Once I get a new issue, I don't even know where to start. There are so many juicy headlines...which one do I read first? Then I have to wait an entire week until I can get my hands on the next one..... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Magazine Better Than The Competition
I hear everyone say that Mix is a better magazine than Recording and I say nonsense. This mag is a great mag about home recording and the recording industry. After the first issue of Recording Magazine, I cancelled my subscription to Mix. I like the reviews in Recording much better, but what I like the most are the seperate columns each month about each band instrument. Each month a column is written pertaining to bass, guitar, drums, and vocals. These columns give the readers tips and insight on how to improve and get different sounds out of each instrument. I love it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Friendlier end of the scale...
It can be kind of fluffy and thin, with maybe one or two really good meaty articles (usually too short) per issue, with a bit too much fluff in between, too many press releases (jeez I hate press releases that pass for "news"). For that, 3 stars.4-0 out of 5 stars It makes me study efficiently!
I'd like to be a good music recording artist.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect.
Buying video equipment used to be pretty straightforward but now that you can or are about to commit 4 figures or perhaps even 5 to 6 figures towards television and a video system - you will find the most unbiased and smartest answers from PERFECT VISION.4-0 out of 5 stars My favorite HT magazine
The biggest complaint I have it that it's not published every month. There are some minor mistakes in reviews and like most current audio/HT magazines (except for the hard to find Audio Critic) they follow the subjective review approach, but the reviewers are mostly very knowledgeable. The movie reviews are far and away the best of the HT magazines; you'll find reviews of lesser known gems, entire director's oeuvres, and expanded depth special articles.

5-0 out of 5 stars TPV: Best mix of Home Theatre Equipment & Film Reviews
Our family subscribes to most of the popular home theatre publications and, though many are good, we feel The Perfect Vision (TPV, for short) is the best overall. Some publications are mostly "equipment-centered" while others are predominantly "film-centered", but TPV strikes a great balance between the two.A typical issue might feature about 10-12 in-depth home theatre product reviews (with products at varying price/performance levels), a Buyer's Guide that addresses a particular class of equipment (e.g., AV Receivers), an in-depth article highlighting a particular film maker or film (e.g., Stanley Kubrick), and about 40-45 short but very well-written film reviews.TPV also provides easy-to-understand background articles that help you keep up with new developments in home theatre technologies (and related industry politics). Finally, the TPV writing style is articulate and lively (it's just plain fun to read!). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fresher, broader, and more visual than Wallpaper, ID
Having been an avid reader of ID magazine first, I was stunned to see a magazine like 'Wallpaper' that is more dedicated to the actual products than the industry. ID magazine just always left me wishing 1) there was more pictures of actual products and 2) I didn't just spend THAT much money on each issue. I loved Wallpaper. But then I was introduced to 'Surface'. Surface's features are more design-oriented. You get a sense that the editors hand-picked the products for their innovation, sculptural form, and the desire to expose the readers to designs ranging from fashion to architecture to product. It's more obvious that Surface goes to great lengths to make the whole issue cohesive; a general theme is carried from one article to the next. On the other hand, Wallpaper--while a very good addition to Surface--seems more like a monthly "collection" of interesting design products and buildings sent in by reporters around the globe. Wallpaper has its own advantages, however, and it's that it always strives to get things from around the world, not just Europe or the U.S. In fact, it features more Asian design than Surface does and has special issues like Wallpaper Navigator--sort of a guide to the design-minded world traveler. (You'd be surprised at the level of sophistication of current Asian design.) Nevertheless, each issue of Surface is simply more special, more professionally executed, and while I pick up Wallpaper all the time, Surface is the magazine I subscribe to.
