5-0 out of 5 stars A Writer for APG
APG is the Sports Illustrated of paintball, it has been around since 1988 and durning that time paintball has changed a lot. It covers stories for beginners thru semi-professionals, some professional players prefer not to reveal the secretes to their success.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not Bad
Its a good magazine for someone who is some what new to paintball. If ur an experienced baller I would recommend buying it first and reading one because i think this magazine is deff not worth the prescription.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Paintball Magazine
This is the best paintball magazine. You want strategy, you got it. You want new equipment, you got it. You want competition coverage, you got it. Even the extensive ads are efficient and helpful (the advertisers know the buyers in APG are more interested in substance than glitz). If you only get one paintball magazine, this is the one to get. With at least twice as much good stuff per issue, it is better than any of the others. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Current Codes Stay, Older Codes Go
One of my favorite past times happens to be the world of video games. Although many people find different ways to get around them with cheats, the unfortunaet part is that the cheats don't often get used. For a magazine called Tips & Tricks, their magazine constantly is coined with that phrase. Although they have a dead on sense with publishing tips and ways to help you through current games, that isn't the same with older games for the system in their codes section. The magazine constantly changes by reducing the contents of codes for certain games and older systems like the Nintendo Gamecube, the Playstation 1, and the Nintendo 64. Althoough it is good for current and upcoming systems like the Nintendo DS, and the upcoming Wii, many will just have to find other ways to get their cheats than Tips & Tricks magazine.
3-0 out of 5 stars Tricky
As a reader since '97, and a subscriber since '02, this magazine has helped me various times in my hobby of gaming. The magazine offers FAQs and a large collection of codes/cheats for most of the popular consoles and handhelds (there are usually at least three different FAQs). The magazine also offers different departments, reporting on various segments of gaming. Game Previews features upcoming select games along with a release chart; Gaming Gear keeps up with new hardware peripherals and accessories; Online Gamer has news on said subject; Gaming 2 go is for mobile phone games; Sports Desk offers details on the newest sports games; Japan Report shows the goodies the Japanese game players get with their gaming (letting us know how we get shafted if we don't import); Final Fantasy World contains all news on Final Fantasy games; and Collector's Closet lists rare games, music, peripherals, and systems you should look out for if your a collector, or if you own them. Phew! Collector's Closet also has a monthly "Room of Doom" showing some incredible collections (for the geek in all of us). There are also some current departments like Grand Theft Auto: The San Andreas Chronicles, Mega Mania (for Mega Man stuff), and Halo Insider. Those departments are like Final Fantasy World in having some in-depth information on the games, but the Halo and Grand Theft Auto reports are said to be going away soon. There is also some coverage on Video game movies, comics, toys, and some reporting on anime. Quite a bit of stuff for simply "Tips & Tricks." Each department isn't very long, maybe a couple of pages, but are a nice read. Of course the main reason for the magazine's existence are the FAQs. These "strategy guides," though, can be very hit and miss. Many of the recent games featured are action games that could be easily beaten, and many of the FAQs aren't really in-depth enough. If a game has a lot of collectibles, you can pretty much be left without how to find them all. I also recall one time they made a guide for Madden--really ridiculous and a waste of space. This kind of treatment is sort of like Prima or Brady making guides that don't really need to be made, and are a waste of paper. The mag used to have a card you could fill out to tell them what games you would want featured, but now, I dunno who picks the games--as I said, it's very hit and miss. One month a certain FAQ could be a great help in Trauma Center: Under the Knife for the DS, another it could be a waste for King Kong (mulit-platform), or other licensed ware (Fantastic 4 comes to mind). I guess it is diverse in both niche and mainstream games, but I wish the magazine was more...well...just had more. Also, as of writing this, I have yet to see anything on Dragon Quest VIII, Tales of Legendia, or Grandia III since they were released (Role Playing Games, and even Strategy Role Playing Games need to be featured more in this magazine). Oh, but if you need some "strategy" for Full Auto, 24: The Game, and Teen Titans, you'll flip for joy. Also bothersome is the mail section. Quite possibly the worst collection of letters I've ever seen are assembled for response. The input and ramblings of the readers are even worse than in EGM--and that's bad. There is no age limit, so expect a very young crowd to be given an equal voice. Tips & Tricks dosen't even take e-mail for reader responses; only snail mail is used for letters. Of course, another knock may be why buy this kind of magazine if you can get free FAQs and codes online. Well, a defense for that is sometimes the FAQs come out before that spotty gamer can finish his/hers. Also, the ubundance of codes/cheats from one place of reference can be more convienient than hurried online scavaging. This is especially the case in a great giant "Code Book" that is released every year. The great issue contains not only codes/cheats for current gen systems, but occasionally past ones as well. This magazine's basically a crap shoot; some months are great for FAQs, some are worthless. If you have a wide range of tastes in games and in gaming systems, and don't want to keep paying a lot of cash for strategy guides, then I guess this magazine is worth a try. Everyone else should glance at the magazine stand every now and then to see if it's their month for content, and worth the price of purchase. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It used to be cool.
Instinct magazine has become one of the most boring and vacuous magazines. It used to be funny, cool, and bitchy. Now, it takes itself way too seriously. It used to be like that cute alterna-boy (NOT boi) that kept everybody laughing. Now its just like all the other gym bunnys that go clubbing every night.Even Joel Perry and Dave White can't save it anymore. They have Camper English writing the exercise segments, for ...'s sake! I'm moving on to Radar magazine.

1-0 out of 5 stars BORING!!
This magazine is one of the most boring gay publications I have ever encountered. There is very little in it to merit subscribing. All fluff, no substance...no creativity....nothing.
5-0 out of 5 stars You've got to check out this magazine!

5-0 out of 5 stars I wait for it to come every other month
I can hardly wait for my next copy to come.I look forward to the magazine more than any other magazine I get and read every word in it.I save them for years and go back to them as they have relevance years back when new books come out. They give me pleasure with every read.Even though I can read them on the computer I just love having them around the house so I can pick one up and see what was around months ago or years ago.I'm a real fan.I can't say enough.I've given them as gifts to all of my friends that join audible.I buy books I might not have noticed without reading about it in audiofile.Thank you, thank you, thank you. What more can I say.Keep them coming.

5-0 out of 5 stars Audiobooks Have Come A Long Way
I admit it; I'm addicted ... not to the heavy stuff, but instead head-over-heels in love with audiobooks. And they have found a friend in AudioFile, a truly wonderful magazine that informs addicts like me about the latest trends, equipment, books to hit the market. The down is that it's only published every other month.I voraciously read it both on line and the "hardcover" edition that arrives in my mailbox. Some other reviewer complains that the reviews are nothing more than recaps. While they are short and to the point, I disagree about the contents of the reviews. They're exactly what I'm looking for: an overview of the book, not an in-detail New York TImes type review. If I want to learn more I then check with Amazon to see what others feel. While I still purchase and read print books (they'll never go out of style!), I have found audiobooks a great alternative to curling up with Agatha Christie. And, hopefully, AudioFile, along with my newfound addiction to audiobooks, will continue to prosper and grow. It's good to be in on the ground floor!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Valuable Service
For lovers of audiobooks, Audiofile Magazine performs a valuable service. While I read book reviews from many sources, Audiofile Magazine is the only reviewing service I've found that provides feedback on the quality of the listening experience. Highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Indispensable Tool and Inspiration
I've been a P&W subscriber and reader (even when not a subscriber) for years. I've also tried various other writers' magazines, such as The Writer and Writer's Digest. The latter two were fine when I was just beginning to dip into the freelance market, just beginning to look at publishers for first manuscripts, but when I gained more experience, I soon realized those just didn't make the cut anymore. The articles were too often repetitive and geared towards such elementary basics that I was no longer gaining new insights. P&W was the next step up.
3-0 out of 5 stars Focused on interviews/bios/reviews, heavy on ads
Certainly, it depends on what you're looking for- this periodical is thick and comes every two months.I felt that maybe too much of its thickness came from the large number of ads, mainly ads for writing retreats, seminars, or contests.I was interested in those things, but I was more interested in instruction/tips/exercises that would help me learn about writing, and this I felt was in somewhat short supply. So I didn't renew this, and instead subscribe to "The Writer," which comes monthly, includes lots of instruction/tips/exercises, as well as some ads and notices about opportunities for writers, but not as many as this publication."Poets & Writers" does include some good interviews, bios, and reviews, but for my money, I favor "The Writer."

4-0 out of 5 stars Too much focus on poets for me
I only got the first issue, but it seems to be focused more on poets than other writers (hence the name).i dont enjoy poetry but i love writing fiction. They might do well to keep the two separate, especially the contests and events. It's an attractive format and very upscale, high quality literature reviews and advice. The stories are well written and enjoyable, although i think writers digest offers more for fiction writers. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Glossy British society magazine
Very entertaining if high toned British glossy. Most comparable to American Town & Country. Full of features on England's newest society darling, Lord So-and-so's garden renovation, a bridge column and other eccentric features not commonly found in American magazines. Expensive but usually worth it for a break from the usual American magazine subject suspects and for their annual Society's most desirable guest list. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Info you can't find other places
I agree with "Pigeons" review. This was not as expensive for me as I got a "bundled" package of CoinValues, CoinWorld, both 1 year subscriptions (12 issues, 52 issues respectively). And with CoinWorlds weekly paper you are kept VERY up-to-date on goings on in the numismatic community.I got the both for around $41.

5-0 out of 5 stars A regular in-depth look at the coin world and all of its trappings!
I picked up a couple of issues of this newspaper/magazine at the Santa Clara show and on the basis of those two numbers decided to subscribe.I already subscribe to Numismatic News (NN) which I have also rated at 5 stars and I think I'll continue with both publications because they seem to vary just enough from each other to make things interesting.Coin World appears to spend more time on the nuts and bolts of the Coin World (well, duh, I guess the title says it), with good listings and mentions of new numismatic publications; reference books being essential building blocks for the erection of an edifice of numismatic knowledge. Its articles about specific numismatic issues also include a lot of the minutiae about the decision making process, problems and solutions, leading up to the final issuance of any given coin.It also has really excellent, detailed articles on esoteric topics not readily available in other publications. For instance, contained in one of my complimentary copies there was a truly fascinating article on Alaska Trade Tokens, as well as an entertaining one about the cascade of silver dollars created at the Philadelpia Mint when one of the employees charged with raking loose dollars together from atop a pile weighing hundreds of tons inadvertently broke open a bag which set off a chan reaction of burst open bags causing other employees to flee before the avalanche of tumbling silver.A further good thing about this publication is that the classifieds section appears to be qualitatively, if not quantitatively better than that found in NN.What this publication does not have is recent US Mint statistics (although lots of articles on new mint issues, etc.) which is a really nice thing about NN.Anyway, at about twice the price of NN, I'm not sure that you are getting a publication that is twice as good but I do believe that it is worth the cost of subscription and I hate to say it but if you have to choose between either this one or NN, go with this, in my opinion. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Photos and Ads, Little Content
Interview is definitely a different type of magazine for me- someone who usually reads business and travel mags- and it's not quite what I expected. With a title like "Interview" I read my first copy of this magazine anticipating pages and pages of nothing but interviews. It turns out that interviewing is the main focus of the magazine, but it's not the only one. There is substantial space given to fashion, movies, and other areas, too. Some of these columns are worth an occasional look, but they failed to grab my attention. The writers seem to play it safe, and that includes the interview section. They don't ask many daring or controversial questions. They keep it simple, asking questions about an entertainer's latest album or movie, without delving much into their personal lives.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great magazine.
Interview is one of my favorite magazines. The interviews are always good. I think that the interviews are more candid since it's done by peers. I also think that the photo shoots in the Interview are some of the best around.

5-0 out of 5 stars Warhol In Spirit, But Still Fresh
This magazine is like no other. The interviews are fantastic, the pictures are great, and it's very original. I can understand people not liking it if they're used to and prefer the typical, predictable magazine format.

3-0 out of 5 stars Best source for CBS Soaps
This magazine isn't particularly well written or thought-provoking, but it does give the best recaps available for all my favorite CBS Soaps. I work all day, so this is my chance to keep on top of all the happenings! They give good coverage of all four CBS shows. Ordering the magazine from Amazon was very easy and made it simple to renew my subscription.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very average
Ok, the secret is out... I'm a closet soap opera fan. I watch As The World Turns and Guiding Light regularly, and occasionally All My Children. This magazine is ideal for someone who's a casual viewer and only follows one network. The writing is that great, although it isn't bad, per se. It's just very elementary. Other magazines about soaps have more intelligent critiques of acting and stories. The "spoilers" aren't as good as in other magazines, either, and the recaps aren't as up to date as in SOD or SPW.Overall, for what it costs, I'd say just get Soap Opera Digest or Soap Opera Weekly. It's a bit better than Soap Opera Update, though, which is why I gave it 2 stars as opposed to 1. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars High end drool catcher
This is not a magazine for someone looking to spend $1500 on a home theatre setup. But it *will* introduce you to a whole new world of high end home automation and audio/visual products. While I'm not planning on spending $85k on my next entertainment center renovation, there *are* elements of these systems that fall within my price range, and the breadth of products reviewed helps me to understand where the pieces I choose fall into the overall pecking order.
2-0 out of 5 stars More like Interior Decorating than Electronic Home
This magazine emphasizes articles on really expensive professional home theater installations with lots of emphasis on photos and much less on technical details.Product reviews are shallow (Why you need this:It's way cool!).After a few issues you get tired of nothing new, especially if you're on a budget or a DIYer.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible Customer Service
I read a few reviews on amazon and other sites about Acoustic Guitar before deciding to subscribe to it.I paid them on the 1st of May 2006 and my first copy was supposed to be the July issue (which hasn't yet turned up), on writing to them I got a response saying that I should expect it any day, well I bought their word for it, but it never reached me. It was the same story for every issue and everytime I would write to them, all that they had to say is that I should reconfirm my postal address (which is ridiculous cause I had been getting their renewal notices before even a single issue reached me, and I had brought that to their notice).
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine
Unless you're into shredding, adding unnatural effects to your sound, or the latest opinions of the hard/punk rockers, this is the magazine for you.Filled with useful lessons and tips for everything from blues and country to swing and jazz, and, naturally, a lot of ads for acoustic guitars. Also, it doesn't seem to focus on any particular age group in it's ads or featured interviews/articles as many of the others do.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Good Quality Acoustic Guitar Magazine
This a good magazine for someone who wants to learn to play folk or fingerstyle music. I have tried all of the other magazines and this magazine as far as content and price are above the rest. That being said, this magazine is only a good suppliment for your guitar learning. Even if you don't desire to do anything but strum an acoustic guitar, I don't think this magazine can be your one source of literature. I would recommend that this magazine be purchased along with one of the mainstream magazines such as Guitar One or Guitar World. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars They don't make magazines like this anymore. Or they never did...
Classic Rock is a GREAT magazine. No emo. No nu metal. No punk (well, not much). So what does it have you ask?
5-0 out of 5 stars This magazine has it all for any fan of Rock music
I found this magazine in a Borders store almost 2 years ago at $7.99.I took it home and read it from cover to cover in about 2 days, it was that hard to put down.I haven't found a magazine in the past decade where I have enjoyed each article and the subject matter enclosed. They have tons of CD, DVD and concert reviews and being from England, informs those of us on this side of the pond of new bands that we would otherwise never hear of.It took me a few issues to subscribe, but I have been on board ever since. If you like articles on bands from the past such as Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Grand Funk, Pink Floyd, Y & T, well the list goes on and on.Some are stories on what they have been up to, but mostly an article about a particular tour or making of an album that we now recognise as a classic. It has also turned me on to bands such as Status Quo, Tokyo Dragons, Young Heart Attack, and Mostly Autumn that I would have otherwise never been exposed to.Also, every 3 or 4 issues comes with a rather long playing free CD of current music that is a nice bonus that samples the gammut of rock music.I recommend this highly, mostly color pictures that have never been shown before. The Thin Lizzy spread was my favorite a couple of issues ago.Try an issue or two, you won't be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best magazine out there to feature classic rock
Wow, I just got my hands on my first magazine sent to me through the Amazon.com subscription, and it is the best rock magazine I've ever read. The magazine featured ridiculous write ups on Journey, John Kalodner, Triumph, and on the cover and feature was Led Zeppelin covering the Last Days.Included were stories on Zep's final Years (77 - 80), their manager Peter Grant, Zeppelin's In Through the Out Door, and John Bonham. Those stories were very well detailed, published, thoroughly interesting, great write ups, pictorials, etc.The magazine was 146 pages, and aside for the feature contents, regular contents include a communication breakdown (which answers fans letters and emails), the dirt (all the news, rumors, and more), Everyhome should have one (where the magazine asks a musician his favorite album...this edition included Rudolf Scheneker from the Scrops saying no home should be without Steely Dan's The Royal Scam..and he was serious), The Stories Behind the SOngs (Classic Rock looking at BOC's Don't Fear the Reaper), Q & A (with Kinks Dave Davies), Bad Wisdom, The Hard Stuff (the biggest, rockingest rock reviews package on the planet covering all that is new, reissued, spotlight, DVD, books, you name it...it gets reviewed...the best review column I have ever read), and many more regular sections.

5-0 out of 5 stars complete
This is the best & most complete music magazine out there. The interviews, sections, photographs & reviews are all great. The award winning review section is incredibly wide and complete. It's clear these people care about music.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Magazine is one of our finest trust me...
...it is also one of the things that makes me think of home when I am not there. Q has a definitve style in the music market, while most music mags focus on a musical genre or a particular target audience, Q lets any music or artist with an ounce of talent or credibility be their prize. To this end they have featured musical interviews with everyone from Madonna to Leonard Cohen, Blur to George Michael. The breadth is incredible, the journalistic style is artistic and grittily honest. The interest and need to share on the subject of sound talent is endless. The only musical snobbery you will bare witness to here is an avid aversion to the growing "pop stars/pop idol/American idol/x factor", style dross whichfloods todays market. Thank goodness they do so instead of pandering to it without question like the mass of vile celeb trash mags do! I use the term "celeb" in it's loose sense here since one only has to show ones naked behind on Big Brother to be labelled with this dubiuos accalade these days!
5-0 out of 5 stars If Spin was written by Brits...
There used to be tons of music magazines in Britain, but gradually they've disappeared, giving way to lifestyle magazines that run the gamut from celebrity gossip, to articles on (of all things) health. Q has always been focused on music and is pretty much the best barometer of the British music scene. It's stylish, irreverent and intelligent. They're aren't afraid to offend the interviewees neither. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars An okay mag that seems driven by ad revenue
The first impression I got on reading an issue was that the magazine is a mouthpiece for its advertiser's products. Seldom does one see a review that rates equipment in an "average" or, heaven forbid, "junk" status!
1-0 out of 5 stars The "Motortrend" of Home theater magazines.
This magazine is brought to you by the folks that wrote "Stereo Review." Only now they have a new name. This is the magazine that never met a piece of audio gear they did not like. They never compare various products against each other (in any meaningful way). They exclusively review gear made by the big (mostly Japanese) electronics firms and never touch upon the many wonderful & affordable equipment made by the small scale American, European and Chinese manufacturers.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor equipment analysis and comparisons
S&V is a magazine that one would read if he/she were going to purchase a piece of home theater equipment and wanted to feel good about it.I don't think I have ever read a review of a piece of equipment that this magazine did not like.Very poor comparisons analysis and subjective reviews led me to stop reading this magazine.Home Theater and The Perfect Vision are much better mags if you want insightful reviews and comparisons of home theater gear. ...
