5-0 out of 5 stars a questian for the jet collector
i have a couple of jets from the year 1965 does anyone know how much theyre worth? im at godshakim@aol.com thanks for listening.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jet Will ALWAYS Be Relevant
When our beloved Luther Vandross died, only Jet magazine dedicated nearly an entire issue to him. And it was only to Jet that his mother, Mary Ida Vandross, described seeing him for the last time.
5-0 out of 5 stars The "Journal of Ebony Thought" (JET)
Long before "People", "Us" and other magazines, Jet was the *best* way to find out what was "happenin'" in the Afrikan community. It remains so.Despite the internet and other news sources, I still find *something* in Jet *every week* that tells me something about my community which major (read white) media overlook.

2-0 out of 5 stars ok, but won't help you be a better drummer
I'd like to think that reading MD in my younger years had even a little positive effect, but for impressionable youngsters, this mag is not going to help you be a better player. And it peddles a lot of jive images that have nothing to do with what playing music is about.
5-0 out of 5 stars a must have for all drummers
I can't see any reason why drummers don't read Moderndrummer magazine. I've been subcribing Moderndrummer for years and I always enjoy reading them, comparing to other drum related mag, the interviews and critiques are very informative and inspiring, i learnt a lot about product knowledge and maintainence, drummers and bands, and not to mention technique thru out the years of subscrbing MD, the whole magazine is well organized by easy and comfortable to read lay-out and meaningful content, instead some of the so called drumming magazine which interview drummers about their day life and what they think about that specific cities, Moderndrummer really concentrate on how to help their reader to be a better drummer in general.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Mix
There aren't many magazines for drummers that you run across at your average newstand (usually only two or three). This is the best all-around one to get. Good interviews, good reviews, good advertising. Not much on the local scene, but I can live with that. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Magaine
I absolutely love this magazine! This is a wonderful read for any who like short stories and mysteries! The magazine includes new writers as well as more well known ones. A wonderful magazine!

1-0 out of 5 stars A poor quality publication
I had to wait for 5 five months till I got my first issue, imagine that! When the issue did arrive, I found it was very poor. I think that the publishers of Ellery Queen just don't understand that you have to provide value for the price they are charging. 5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and reliable mystery tales
Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine (EQMM) is the sharper image of its sister publication, Alfred Hitchcock's (AHMM).The stories are more polished, some have literary aspirations, and I'm more likely to find the well-executed twist in an EQMM story. While not every piece is a textbook mystery (some are police procedurals or psychological thrillers), all are good entertainment.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Source for All My Favorite New Bands
I can give this great music magazine no greater praise than to say that pretty much all of my favorite new bands in the last couple of years have been discovered through Under the Radar. On top of that, they also write great articles on some of my pre-existing favorite bands. Under the Radar generally has much better writing than some of the other indie music mags out there (Devil In the Woods, Rockpile, Big Takeover, etc.) and fits my musical tastes perfectly.

3-0 out of 5 stars an alright magazine for music
under the radar has pretty good articles, pretty consistently.i wouldn't call it a good source for finding out about new bands, though, like others have said.i find arthur mag, wire mag, and devil in the woods mag to be a lot better for that.
5-0 out of 5 stars 2 of 2
Under the Radar and Filter are the only music magazines I come near. I hear Mojo is just as informative, renovative, and enjoyable, but I'm a little too close-minded to care about other genres I... don't care much about. Fans of rock/pop/what the kids are calling "indie"/alternative/punk/post-punk/folk/!!!!, take a gander at this.

Who can resist the mamasitas in bikinis next to some of the finest rides that bekons from the magazine racks? Not his vato. Seriously though this magazine is a nice reference point for ideas for customizing your ride. If you have an old ranfla(classic car) that needs modificationthan this is the place to shop for ideas . If you don't own one you can always dream. Need some rims? There are countless pages of sugestions. There are some serious cruisers in Lowriderthat are some of the tightest machines you will ever see. This magazine has come a long ways from it's intial days to create a nice colorful glossy representation of some tricked out rides. 2-0 out of 5 stars hhmm....Nope....
I'de have never read Vibe in the first place, but i won a free years subscription in some online contest. And i must also mention i'm a huge fan of hip-hop and hip-hop culture, so i'de think Vibe would be tight.....daamn, was i ever wrong.First off, half the mag is Advertising....then what little reading there is....it's all bullsh**.The interviews they have with artists are totally weak & watered down. They never ask any worthwhile questions.Vibe also contradicts itself constantly. In one issue, they'll give an album a low rating & a poor review, then at the end of the year they name that same album one of the years best....what the f***?Vibe has it's decent moments, but i def. won't be paying for it anytime soon.
1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid at all costs
I started reciving Vibe magazine in the mail announced and unexpected. This wouldn't be the first time this happened, turns out my Grandmother bought me People magazine as a gift and the copies were sent to my house. I figured that somebody had got me this magazine as a gift. Next thing I know a charge for the magazine appears on my bank statement.
5-0 out of 5 stars Worth my money!
This magazine is ill!I learn about all the new albums coming out, read the review, and if they say they are good, i go outand buy 'em.The reviews are also accurate, giving the appropiate number of stars. I also love the sections on the new artists on the verge. The cover stories never seem to dis-please me, always givin' me plent of info. The mini articles are cool, too, from stuff like Warren's Sapp's all-star football team, to all about how Mike Jones was discovered. One last thing I love about the magazine - they are never thin issues, and you know what that means!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars to the people who claim that it's "not what it used to be"
music is constantly changing and evolving, and so is AP. if you want to keep reading about sublime, etc, go dig up your old AP's. you can't expect AP to cover the same bands over and over again. despite what you think, AP has always been, and always will be, devoted to mostly mainstream music. by "alternative", they dont mean alternative to the top 40, they mean the alternative genre, which by definition can't be confined in a genre. most alternative music now, and in the past, is very popular and mainstream.

5-0 out of 5 stars This mag........
.....ROCKS!!!!! First thing, I am not a kid, but it is quicker to use this option. Aaanyways...this magazine is amazing. It features a very wide range of bands, but not in an annoying way. I mean, if you were into death metal and it kept having loads of punk, that would be annoying, and vice versa. There are so many different parts to it....and check out Pandora, the rockin cartoon with the rockin star and her HOT dreadlocked sidekick Wek.....lol!
5-0 out of 5 stars the standard by which all others should be measured
Absolutely brilliant magazine- shame the U.S. does not have an equivalent.Very well-written and informative; I've found out about more bands through this mag than any other I've read. Much more professional than its American counterparts (Metal Edge, Circus, etc).Covers all sorts of metal/rock bands, from Linkin Park to Slayer. This is a British weekly magazine- not a monthly- so the cost is high but well worth it if you can afford it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest rock magazine
Kerrang! is by far the most informative rock magazine that has ever been published!I can count on Kerrang! to get the best interviews, be up to date, and get the facts straight from the mouths of the musicians. Its a hard to find magazine in the US, but if you can spare the money it is well worth your dollar if your intereseted in the world of hard rock. They also cover a wide range of bands that the US wouldn't even touch, and are always turning you on to new music with free CDs. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Proven Track Record of Excellence
Fantasy&ScienceFiction magazine has been around since 1949, and is in my opinion one of the better SciFi and fantasy mags on the market. It has a proven track record of publishing outstanding short stories, novellas, and novelettes that have later gone on to win Hugo, Nebula, and dark fantasy awards, which brings me to the 2006 June issue of the magazine: The June issue features an outstanding and very creepy novella entitled Hallucigenia by Laird Barron. I predict an award for this chilling novella, which will be just another in a long and esteemed list of award worthy tales from Fantasy&ScienceFiction.
4-0 out of 5 stars The Best Digest for Fantasy
With its cheap pricetag and thick size, Fantasy & Science Fiction is definately one of the best. It splits it pages into fantasy & science fiction stories and novellas with a few common columns between (book reviews and strange facts). If you write fantasy or science fiction, pick magazine up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its more than the beginner or mainstream guitarist needs
I've subscribed to Guitar Player for a little over a year now.It seems like a great magazine that attempts to cover all of the bases of guitar playing. It has reviews and interviews with everyone from pretentious guitar heros to down-to-earth acoustic players and punk rockers. There are quite a lot of ads but they are expected for such a magazine. There are CD reviews based off of the guitarist's aspect also.
4-0 out of 5 stars Better than the rest
Let me say at the outset that I'm not a big fan of tab. Figuring out songs on your own provides a greater lesson than simply following along with tabs. Besides, there are scores of free tab sites on the web, so if you really need to know how to play a song and can't figure it out on your own or simply don't have the time, get to surfing.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Guilty Pleasure That I'm Proud To Read
When I was living in London last year I randomly came upon heat and was INSTANTLY addicted. My flatmates and I would go back and forth between buying it week after week. I couldn't wait for Tuesday to role around so I could get the next issue. heat not only has great paparrazi photos, but it's hilarious. Whoever the writers are, they're genius. I love the sense of humor and teasing of celebrities. I especially love that they don't validate celebs for getting increasingly skinny and unhealthy, such as every American counterpart does.

5-0 out of 5 stars Read the Best
I think that Heat is the best magazine out there.I religously buy it every Tuesday when I'm in England, and when I'm back in the states, I make my boyfriend go through the embarassment of buying it and have him send it to me.The best thing about it though, is they don't sugar coat the stories. They tell it like it is, or show it like it is!By far my favorite celeb mag from any country!

5-0 out of 5 stars Once a week is not enough!
Heat has got to be the best goss magazine ever!I've never really enjoyed People or any of those crap American magazines at the checkout of virtually every supermarket.Brit celebs are so much more interesting! After my very first issue, I was hooked. The pics, the gossip, the headlines, the stories.....I read it cover-to-cover in one sitting! And I wanted MORE!Heat, you just cannot put down.Once I get a new issue, I don't even know where to start. There are so many juicy headlines...which one do I read first? Then I have to wait an entire week until I can get my hands on the next one..... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fresher, broader, and more visual than Wallpaper, ID
Having been an avid reader of ID magazine first, I was stunned to see a magazine like 'Wallpaper' that is more dedicated to the actual products than the industry. ID magazine just always left me wishing 1) there was more pictures of actual products and 2) I didn't just spend THAT much money on each issue. I loved Wallpaper. But then I was introduced to 'Surface'. Surface's features are more design-oriented. You get a sense that the editors hand-picked the products for their innovation, sculptural form, and the desire to expose the readers to designs ranging from fashion to architecture to product. It's more obvious that Surface goes to great lengths to make the whole issue cohesive; a general theme is carried from one article to the next. On the other hand, Wallpaper--while a very good addition to Surface--seems more like a monthly "collection" of interesting design products and buildings sent in by reporters around the globe. Wallpaper has its own advantages, however, and it's that it always strives to get things from around the world, not just Europe or the U.S. In fact, it features more Asian design than Surface does and has special issues like Wallpaper Navigator--sort of a guide to the design-minded world traveler. (You'd be surprised at the level of sophistication of current Asian design.) Nevertheless, each issue of Surface is simply more special, more professionally executed, and while I pick up Wallpaper all the time, Surface is the magazine I subscribe to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still a great read after so many years
I used to buy Ebony when I lived in the US and I have a real soft spot for this magazine.
5-0 out of 5 stars SO PROUD OF EBONY MAGAZINE FORTRUDGING THROUGH THE STORM
Ever since I was a youth growing up in the urban communities of New York, I always looked up to Ebony Magazine as the source and inspiration of Black America to achieve all that seems impossible. EBONY HAS CONTINUED TO REMAIN AT THE TOP OF ITS CLASS. I commend Ebony Magazine for staying true to its ideals and featuring affluential and successful Black Americans as they have paid tribute to throughout the years and so well deserved. As a magazine editor, I have seen many magazines come and go due to changes insociety and consumer trends. Many changed their purpose and wound up grossly succumbing to hype, eye-candy and images that degrade our people and are the cause for damage to the Black family's infrastructure and values.I held back my buying dollar and made a decision that there are only 10 magazines on the market that I will support that uphold what I want to see in a publication. One of these publications is Ebony magazine and will always be EBONY MAGAZINE. I know quality when I read it, and EBONY has still got it!

5-0 out of 5 stars EBONY COLLECTOR
I have been reading Ebony magazine for as long as I can remember. I have the great luck of having a mother whom saved most of her issues so that her children could see the different changes in the black community over the pass years.Sad to say in the later years of Ebony, it's mainly have covered the more famous and rich of the black community. Yeah, they still cover some of the up to date black issues, but lately, the articles are more of 'guess what's going on in the neighborhood' with no resolution to the problem that the article was about. Don't get me wrong, this is a great magazine, but compared to its earlier years, its slipping. I know there were plenty of famous and rick black folks on the covers back then, but when you constantly are putting celebrities on the cover, it loses it rep. as a news for the black community magazine...prime example: how is it in 2005 a cover was not dedicated to the victims of New Orleans(whom were mostly black)? Granted, one of the best issues in 2005was the one dedicated to the founder of Ebony (John H. Johnson) It was truly a great reflection of what Ebony magazine was about back when the magazine was still a child. All I can pray for is the someone will take a good look at what started the magazine and what set it aside from all other magazines and get back to that formula before it's too late. By-the-way, my issues are from 1954 to current, with very few issues missing, and I am always looking for the ones I don't have. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A look at the high end
This magazine is fun to read, kind of like admiring expensive watches. And I would love to be able to afford some of the equipment they cover. But when a reviewer gets all excited about a $2100 power cord ("has an effortless musicality and imparts the body and soul of complex acoustic environments with almost erie palpability"), it's hard to take them seriously. "Sound and Vision" is better for mere mortals. "The Absolute Sound" lets you see how the other half lives and occasionally chuckle at them.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Magazine
The Absolute Sound is an outstanding magazine for the serious audio enthusiast. There are two main reasons why I would recommend this magazine.4-0 out of 5 stars Very High End Audio Information
This review is not intended to be worthy of its subject, but I'm surprised no one else has proferred, so here is some brief comment, until a more educated audio reader comes along (hopefully soon).Read more
