4-0 out of 5 stars Still Worth Reading
As a previous reviewer said, Soap Opera Weekly lost some of its bite when its original editor was fired. It used to be more seriousin its presentation of the soap world and more critical. That said, I still think it's worth a read if only to catch up on what's going on both on and behind the screen. I don't think someone really interested in finding out what's happening in the soap world can totally ignore it. Supplement this with Soap Opera Digest and you've pretty much got all the news you need to know about what's happening in the daytime world of television.

4-0 out of 5 stars Up Close With Soaps: From "Passions" to "General Hospital"
I'm a big fan of NBC's "Passions" and Soap Opera Weekly has done a great job pitching Jim Reilly's wacky and wonderful soap from its infancy in 1999 to its present day status as one of the most unique soaps on the air.1-0 out of 5 stars How the mighty have fallen.
I am a disillusioned former subscriber to Soap Opera Weekly. After about seven years of receiving this magazine every week in the mail, it finally got too bad to be worth my time and money.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Giant has become a lame Details knockoff!!
They took a magazine that was dedicated to the great Geek in all of us and sold its soul to mainstream conformity.I'll be forwarding my subscription to the next yuppie dufus I see.

1-0 out of 5 stars What happened?!?!?
The previous incarnation of GIANT was a little bit snarky, a little bit poppy, and a lot of interesting and funny reading. This latest issue is garbage. It appears as if they felt the need to get rid of everything interesting and entertaining about the magazine and dumb it down.Who is the "new" audience for this thing?!?I predict it will be eliminated from the newsstands within the next 6 months.

1-0 out of 5 stars Giant Magazine changed for the Worse
Someone ruined my favorite Magazine. I feel ripped off. I subscribed to Giant Magazine a few issues back because I loved it, and now this new incarnate is so horribly boring and mundane that I want to cancel my subscription. It's that bad. I'm talking worse than Maxim or Cargo even. It's just like Cosmo for men or something. There wasn't one interesting thing about the new one. I used to spend hours reading it from cover to back. I think it took me 1 minute exactly flipping thought it the first time, and then I tried again, and went page by page and found nothing interesting at all. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ....gives an aspiring model the "Supermodel" treatment!!
Supermodels Unlimited features a program for pageant directors and modeling schools that allows us to crown "Supermodels" of our pageant program. We allow the girls to model outfits of their choice and give the excitement of fashion modeling a try! Competition winners are then awarded prizes and a page of photos in the magazine - it is an exciting and terrific publication for the girls and the industry. Pageant girls do great things in their home communities for charity - our "Supermodels" are hosting a Go Red for Women Fashion Show to benefit the American Heart Association - this magazine allows ALL girls (and guys too) the opportunity to shine and shows the potential in everyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Really Upset!
My daughter is trying to get started in modelling. We bought the magazine hoping for some good tips.We followed the advice given and were humiliated at my daughters first open call.Once we walked into a model agency in atlanta, a gentleman came out and laughed and told her to go and wipe off all the makeup. He said he never heard of this magazine. They passed it around the table and pointed out that it was more for contests than it was for real models.

2-0 out of 5 stars This Is a Joke, Right?
I was suprised to see that the Saturday Evening Post was still being printed. I happened to get a chance to examine a few of the "new" issues the other day. I guess they've gone through a format change from what I remember as the older magazines. It was almost like reading a satire of a badly made magazine. At first, I thought the magazines' only value could be the reprints of old artwork by Norman Rockwell and Liendecker. But the "new" material was so bad, it had to be done on purpose. I laughed out loud several times durring my review. I'd reccomend this magazine to anyone who enjoy the Sun, the Globe, the Weekly World News, or any print gurus who want to see how NOT to craft a magazine. It's a shame that they couldn't continue to make a respectable body of material for their readers. I'm sure Rockwell and Liendecker are rolling in their graves right about now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Suitable for every age
I first read this magazine when I was a little girl; my grandmother kept some old issues in our Minnesota lake cabin and on rainy days, I would curl up on the sofa and pour over the articles.I still enjoy the recipes, the amusing articles and the comic pages. It's a treat to sit down and read it! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Voters Information - Gospel Music Awards
Voters need more reliable information concerning the Gospel Music Awards Ceremonies:
5-0 out of 5 stars Super Source for Southern Gospel Music lovers
I have been exposed to the Singing News for going on 30 years and I am totally sold on its contributors as well as it's staff. This publication keeps fans and gospel music listeners abreast of the up and coming events, personnel changes and special needs of groups that travel around singing Southern Gospel music.I truly love the articles and pictures which bring some very popular people down to a regular persons level.By no means are they gods but they all (gospel music legends) are held in high regards. If you desire to be informed in this venue of music, this would be the magazine for you. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars A peer and compliment to American Record Guide
Coming in the same size as its peer, American Record Guide, Fanfare magazine gives American classical music buyers another perspective on new releases. It also provides interviews with musicians and others in the industry, another compliment to ARG's coverage of musical America.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fanfare and I are now celebrating our 20th anniversary.
I have been collecting classical music recordings, now, for nearly a half-century, beginning in the mid-50s (my high school years) with a few monophonic LPs, and even the odd 45 or two: basically, whatever my "walking-around" money was able to cover. Once I was in college, with the sorts of interpersonal interactions that such "close living" encourages, my record collecting became both more varied and more frenetic. And I can identify those college years with the introduction of stereophonic recordings. It was also at this time that I discovered the first two monthly magazines having classical music recording reviews: High Fidelity and HiFi Review (later, Stereo Review).
5-0 out of 5 stars The most reliable American classical CD magazine
I've been a subscriber to Fanfare for many years and have come to regard it as the most reliable of the two comprehensive American classical CD magazines (the other being the American Record Guide). Its reviews are more scholarly than those of the ARG and tend to be longer, including more detail, more extensive comparisons with other recordings and the like. The writing style is more standard. It has a lively letters section and runs very interesting interviews with musicians as well as reviews of live performances here and abroad. I subscribe to both, but tend to pay more attention to Fanfare. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars "Widescreen" Review? BULLS__T!
Hell, I took one look at that title and bought it. But let me tip you off - it's FALSE advertising, because the gist of this pub is it's technical home equipment writing, which I'm sure is good if you're looking for that sort of thing. But to call it "Widescreen Review" is bogus. Don't let the eye-catching cover fool you. There's nothing in here detailing the aesthetic quality of wide-format cinematography, or types of principal photography. Rarely, they'll feature an interview with someone pertinent and interesting to movies and dvds, but that's maybe once every 2 years. Actually, you can find some info in 2 pages in a POORLY laid-out grid of each dvd they choose to review but it's hardly enough. This magazine is boring. Don't subscribe to it. Flip through it at the newsstand, but that's it. A better title for this waste would be "Home Theater Tech Whiz Monthly".

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic magazine for any and all AV/HT enthusiasts!
This magazine does an incredible job balancing the "hardcore" information and articles and the more casual, easy material. It's all too easy to get sunk down in technobabble when reviewing or discussing electronics, but WS does as good a job as I've ever seen of not falling into that trap. On that note, they'll provide some of the more detailed specs and information for the hardcore folks as well, but it's never confusing or hard to follow.
