1-0 out of 5 stars They haven't sent an issue yet!!!!!
I ordered this product 2/14/06 it's now 7/5/06 and I haven't recieved one issue yet!!! Not pleased at all

1-0 out of 5 stars How Dare You!
I am a native of Camden, NJ and I was appalled when I heard of the article regarding Camden and it's crime rate. Okay what killed me the most was the fact that the person who wrote this article must of only went to one section of the city because the homes she showed who knows what block they were on. She said that the majority of the people in Camden don't make but 23142.00 a year which I have no idea where she got that from. I know of over at least 30 residents in Camden that make over 68000.00 a year; and that's just people I know personally not including people my parents know. And if it was so bad at the rate they are in their careers not just fast food jobs, CAREERS they could have been left the city if it so terrible. Who ever the person is she got to make that quote must be one of them that does drugs or did do the drugs to still be suffering so badly.Camden County College's class of 06 had over 1400 people that graduated with an Associates degree on May 20,2006 and 80% of them where from the city of Camden. The entire down town area is being revamped but she didn't show any of that in her article she just tried to make it out to be some city sitting around waiting for destruction. EVERY CITY IN THE UNITED STATES HAS CRIME! So Miss Chiles I believe your name is CUT THE [...]! I didn't purchase your magazine I stood in the store and read as much of it as I could take. The memorial picture you have on one of your pages, did you ask around and interview any one from his family??????? Do you even know what happened to him? He was not murdered he killed himself! That is why his brother felt the need to post that, who knows what was going on with him. But he was a great friend and a father, and that was down right rude and disrespectful for your magazine to put that picture in there and not know the facts! And I am not sure where you saw children playing with trash, but that is crazy. You must didn't go down Baird Blvd, because from the beginning of our block until the end it is clean all the time! Ormond, Euclid, Clinton Street, Dudly Street, There are new homes in North Camden that apparently you didn't see since you only had a couple of pictures of abandoned homes as if that was all of Camden. I never did pay your magazine any attention and I am an avid reader but just know all of the people I do know in Camden that does spend money your sales in our area will go down if that is the last thing I do! Apparently someone told you that everyone from Camden is ignorant and don't know any better, well that is not the case. I am Accounts Payable rep for our biggest hospital in the South Jersey Area, my mother has been a teacher for the last 34 years my father and sister work for DYFS and in her single home alone she makes over 40000.00 my parents together make over 100000.00 so please get it right! before you go publishing things that are down right rude and disrespectful! There is poverty EVERY WHERE!I am sure wherever you come from has a crime rate, abandoned homes and drug addicts and dealers. Yes our population is small and that is how they can determine us the murder capital. I guess you haven't been to Philadelphia or checked their crime rate and this is only the 5th month in the year, or Newark who's crime rate is even higher and let's not talk about NY, Detroit, Chicago, LA or any other city across the US because Camden was crowned the murder capital it must really be bad. Our murder rate has dropped over the last couple of years, but again the census has it so high considering our population. ... Read more

Filter and Under the Radar are the only music magazines I come near. I hear Mojo is just as informative, renovative, and enjoyable, but I'm a little too close-minded to care about other genres I... don't care much about. Fans of rock/pop/what the kids are calling "indie"/alternative/punk/post-punk/folk/!!!!, take a gander at this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finest classical music publication
This is the finest popular publication for classical music, and it is a wonderful complement to more serious publications such as Fanfare.Highly recommended for the collector, both amateur and serious alike.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best, for many reasons...
This might sound strange at first, but I confess: Of course I subscribe to The Gramophone for its critically perceptive and unfailingly well-written reviews and features, but perhaps what I love best about this magazine are the copious and informative record-label advertisements! Just leafing through the Nov. or Dec. 2004 edition, I see full-page and even two-page spreads showing:
4-0 out of 5 stars New and improved: 'The' Gramophone.
Effective with the November, 2004 issue, Gramophone has undergone a number of changes in design and editorial content, all for the better. One of these changes, perhaps the most minor of all, is the reversion to its original title, 'The' Gramophone. The other changes are more substantial, hardly cosmetic, especially for North American readers.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Finest of "Jazz, Blues, and Beyond" In One Magazine.
The current title of this magazine says it all: Jazz, Blues, and Beyond. The arrival of DownBeat at your door or magazine store will be a welcome event each month. DownBeat has been the standard magazine for articles on jazz musicians and record reviews for decades. In recent years, it has expanded to cover blues, rock, third stream, world beat, Brazilian popular music, and much more. MEGA-TONS of records, cassettes, and CDs have been sold based on the in depth reviews of the DownBeat critics. Magazines have come and gone and DB continues to get the best critics to write hip and incisive articles on musicians, jazz festivals, notable events, deaths, equipment, and musical transcriptions of great solos. Reader's letters to the editor, "Chords and Dischords" is a lively feature that never fails to ruffle some feathers.
5-0 out of 5 stars Still The Best Jazz Periodical Out There
For current reviews of CD's and concerts as well as historical reviews of past releases Down beat cannot be beat. The articles are always interesting and the magazine blends the right mix of current and vintage musical information that makes every issue worth having. The Blindfold Test feature where some artist listens to a few recordings and tries to identify and offer commentary on the players is really cool. Especially when you can read what Charles Mingus has to say about other artists of his day as in the most recent issue. I look forward to every issue of Down Beat and recommend it to anyone who enjoys jazz.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
The main bulk of Down Beat is reviews of albums that are coming out the jazz world.Quite easily, the best parts are the special sections, and interviews they have with artists.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine
I really enjoy this magazine.I didn't have any of the service problems that the previous reviewed had.I ordered mine through Amazon and I get the free CD with every copy.

1-0 out of 5 stars OK magazine - if you don't mind terrible customer service!
I ordered this magazine from Amazon back in February 2006.The first issue finally arrived a over 3 months later.(You probably don't want to buy this subscription as a gift unless you don't mind if your friend thinks you forgot to get them anything!)When the magazine eventually arrived there was a problem with my copy so I called the Pianist magazine customer service department. After about 10 minutes of annoying muzac I spoke to a representative. They said they could not answer my question and promised to call back in 30 minutes. That was 4 weeks ago and they still have not bothered to call back.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Piano Magazine Ever
I have been a subscriber since Volume 1.It is one of the best magazines for the serious pianist or the beginer.Good articles that are relevant, excellent choise of pieces to perform, and the CD is a great help - especially with the music minus one.If you want to improve your scope of music - and add additional perfomance peices - this magazine is a must. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars UK-based, but Universal in Appeal
If you don't live in the UK, you'll often find a lot of music and bands you've never heard of in Total Guitar, but that's a good thing. As an alternative to Guitar for the Practicing Musician and Guitar World, which mostly feature the same transcriptions and cover artists you're already tired of ad naseum (and usually only focusing on a certain type of band for two years straight), TG, on the otherhand, is a breath of fresh air EVERY SINGLE MONTH.They may have a pop artist on the cover one month, a country legend another, a heavy artist the next, a funk or punk artist the following. In each issue, you can find a diverse palette of music to choose from - with transcriptions and faithfully recorded instrumental tracks on CD for you to play along with and learn from (just like having a band right there with you), along with very helpful tips for the novice and experienced player alike. You're bound to find something new to pique your interest every time.Their only downfall is that they have an Oasis fixation that will hopefully come to pass, but this IS a UK magazine, you know? This is the type of magazine where you can find transcriptions of bands such as the Pixies alongside The Smiths, Blur, Van Halen, Elvis, James Bond, Metallica, and tons more.Guitar Player and Guitar World just don't match up. So you may be scared off by the pricetag of Total Guitar.I believe it's worth every penny. If you're just starting out, TG is like an invaluable set of FUN lessons sent to your door (or at your newsstand) each month, and if you already play, TG offers a wealth of tips and information to help you stay on your toes.Again, you're not only getting an action-packed magazine, but also a cool CD to play along with each month, and they have to import it from England, so that's where the price is coming from.Completely worth it, though. If you're like me and don't really care to see the 10th Korn transcription in Guitar Magazine in 3 months, then Total Guitar is definitely worth you checking out. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Typical Pop Country Fluff
Are you wondering how Kenny's doing since Renee left him? What's Tim and Faith's favorite place to eat? These and a multitude of other fluffy and light questions are answered by "Country Weekly."Like another reviewer stated, this is the "People" of Country Music. However, if you're looking for a story about actual music, you'll be hard pressed to find it in here.Much like "Us" and "People," "Country Weekly" is essentially a vehicle used to promote the "artist" of the week and not much of anything else.In a recent issue, the question of whether or not Sugarland will continue as a duo with the departure of Kristen Hall arose.Instead of attempting to answer that question, the fluffster pushed their point across that they wanted the shapely and lovely Jennifer Nettles to head out on her own and ditch the dude.
5-0 out of 5 stars The "People" of Country Music
I enjoy the Country Weekly because you learn a lot about current events in the life of the Artists. There is not a lot of junk ads filling up the weekly either. The Weekly seems to have a lot of exclusive connections in the world of country music.

1-0 out of 5 stars UNFAIR!!!!!!!!

I use to buy this magazine every mouth when I was much younger which was just a big waste of money all the stories and pictures can be found in any other teen bop magazine. This magazine is not for people who can actually read or understand any of the stories.

4-0 out of 5 stars Popstar is really cool!
I think Popstar is a great magazine for teens. It's positive! Not like the other celebrity teen mags out there. And it's up-to-date with music, movies and TV celebrities.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's Cool

For those who love Celeberity gossip (like myself) except I wish it would "grow up" a bit- but I still wanna subscription for it!!!!!!!! If you are into music production from a hip hop stand point, dont sleep on this mag. All the questions that us up and coming producer have will be answered in the mag. I got the first two issues and it was money well spent. Lets face it, Source and Vibe a artist based. Plus they are big time now so half of the mag is full of ads and bull Sh--. Not this one. Before you go out a buy that 3,000 mpc that everybody says you need, flip this Scratch mag open and see what people in the bussiness have to say.

5-0 out of 5 stars HM helped me, now it can help you!
I have been listening to christian metal since the early days. Back when all there was to listen to was Stryper and a few others. Since there was no internet back then we needed HM to bring the info to us. If it wasn't for Doug Van Pelt the faithful would have been lost. I remember waiting on the edge of my seat for the next issue to come. If you listen to christian music, get this mag. It's the bible of christian metal!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The epitomy of all music magazines.
Whether you are into hard music or not, whether you are a Christian or not, there is plenty of good stuff carefully invested in each page of HM magazine. The news keeps you on your toes with pointers that you actually care about. There is a notably diverse range of music covered, with a special emphasis on hard music and indie music-- "Christian" bands, mind you (whatever that means now days...) Interviews are anything but standard, and far from dull. Reviews are constructive, insightful and informative... very useful for selecting cds. There are helpful tips for guitarists and drummers, and they review gear too. For those of us who are Christian (yes I am one,) there is some great down to earth advice in the last columns on all things relevant. However, one must be interested in at least one of these two things: 1. Good music 2. Christianity. Otherwise, this zine is probably not for you. Anyhow, find out for yourself!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Only Magazine That Matters
Once upon a time a Texas kid named Doug Van Pelt got an interview with an upcoming, young metal band called Stryper, and xeroxed a fanzine in his basement. That was Heaven's Metal. Now HM stands for Holy Mackerel--I mean, Hard Music. It's not just metal any more.Read more

well, if you're a follower of the genre this is the magazine for you.each issue has at least 1 interesting, well researched article on a band you've heard of.the album reviews tend to be a bit bland - hard to get candid criticism here.but the ads and listings for events are top notch, and the letters and questions sections are full of interesting historical tidbits. ...
