Used to be the best
About two years ago, Vanity Fair was not only the best magazine of the year, but maybe all time.I would read it from cover to cover.

I don't normally like glossy magazines that think too much of themselves, I think that they were invented to be dumped on coffee tables to look good when you have visitors around for coffee but if you want a really good and intelligent read, buy TIME or Newsweek.

Waste of Money and Time
I picked up an issue of this magazine last week because I wanted to take the picture of the cover girl into my hair dresser. After I got it home, I opened it up to check it out and discovered it is the most brainless magazine I have ever seen. The articles read like something from "Teen Beat", yet it's filled with adult material. There were about 10 articles on "how to please your man" and "what guys like" and even a "sex workout". These articles didn't contain any "real" advice--just unintelligent babble. For instance, did any of you know that guys don't like it when you act unenthusiastic during sex? HMMM, crazy.
What is sex like for him?
Cosmopolitan is a magazine that has a lot of information of different subjects. It's not only about sex and how to look great,but also about people's concerns. It's very easy to read and find what you are looking for, but there are also many ads. The perfume it usually has inside is pretty bad, and once you open it, the whole magazine smells. But as of context, the magazine is interesting

If Women Buy this Tripe Is There Any Hope For Us?
If you're in search of a magazine for women that actually has worthwhile content then move on. There is nothing of substance in Cosmopolitan. Open the latest issue and you will find "sex tips that will drive your man crazy!!!" and "snag that cutie!!" galore. It's pathetic. And sophomoric.

Conspicuous consumption
I got this as a freebie along with W and it lasted only as long as I received it for one year.The use of fur and skins was nauseating and I couldn't have been more disgusted at the vapid, innocuous, 'insights' it offered.This magazine has no redeeming social value.

Glossy Body Art
For me, the September issue of Vogue, with its 700 page issue, is more than eye candy. It's art. It's that simple. I no longer look at most of the fashion in the magazine, nor the models, as realistic, something that can ever transfer into my own life, nor would I want it to. It reminds me of trips to art museums where I can admire one painting half the afternoon, but it doesn't mean I want it hanging on my wall at home.

Great for new fashion followers, passe for insiders
Italian Vogue is very avant garde, and features the world's best photographers, models, and designers.But it's been exactly the same for like 13 years.It even got overplayed a few years back, as the only magazine carried around by top stylists.It's definitely worth a one year subscription, but you may want to reconsider renewing it.

One of the BEST fashion magazines out there.

I like the magazine for fashion as well as for the informative news articles.

GQ stands for....?
I never bought GQ back in my 20s because for one thing, I never thought of myself as a clothes-horse.Also, I actually took the G in GQ to mean that it was actually for Gentlemen, ie, sipping Champagne on a Yacht pass me the the Caviar type Gentlemen.
REALLY GQ
I love this magazine, the images are crisp, the writing consistantly to quality and the photography is always fabulous.Let's face it when a magazine coins a phrase, you know it's good.I have read GQ for several years and have found it consistantly good, though I must confess the only part that I consider must read every month is Style Guy, I don't always agree with him, but I love the questions, you really wonder if these people have ever picked up the magazine the are writing to..one never knows.The clothes they feature are usually top shelf, uh with top shelf prices as well..I mean a $2000 pair of alligator lofers..you gotta love it.If you have any interest in the latest styles and some great writing as well, then I highly recommend this book to you, though frankly I can't imagine anyone reading this that does not already have an opinion of this iconic magazine..but if you don't then by all means pick it up and form your own opinion..it's worth the effort. ... rocks.
magazine rocks. i took french in high school and i'm in college now, so i keep up with my french by reading this magazine among others. the price is iffy [esp if you're a poor college kid like me], but the magazine is REALLY great--the photos and the artistic value is worth it alone.

I don't speak a word of french,and I barely read it, but I love this magazine!!! If you love fashion, get a french dictionary,I did, this is a magazine to savor! I have every issue since Ms. Roitfeld took over and will keep them forever! Esquire is interesting
Esquire may be a man's magazine, but I enjoy the articles as a woman, because it is no holes barred feedback with the rough edges included. I got my first issue a couple weeks back, and found it funny, informative, great pic of Tom Petty, and I'm looking forward to more issues.

A Very Good Magazine
Esquire is a very good magazine with a talented staff of excellent writers and photographers. The magazine is designed to appeal to the more upscale, more highly educated man. Articles cover a wide range of topics, from fashion, to politics, to health, to food & drink, to sports, to travel, to sex. Most of the articles are short, but you can count on finding a few lengthy pieces of journalism, and typically at least one interview with a well- known public figure.Esquire is printed on quality paper and with quality binding (no staples), and it has a very professional look to it. Ienjoy the articles in Esquire. The writers are very good, with several of them using humor as the main ingredient of their journalism. Others are more serious. The writers provide a good level of balance and with so many different topics (cars, food, drink, politics, etc.) available in each issue to read, you can skip over those that are less appealing and concentrate on the ones that suit your interests.

The usual high standard
Still maintains an excellent reputation as a top men's life style magazine. Articles are certainly for the more enlightened reader. But still manages to provide a good balance of light-heqarted fare. A must subscribe for the 'modern man'. ... Read more

well rounded
I've been reading Glamour for the past three years and it has been a great magazine all around. Glamour covers topics on health, career, finances, sex, relationships, style, etc. Of all the magazines on the newsstands, this one is the most intelligent and savvy for women in their 20s and 30s. Yes there are too many ads like in most magazines, but that's how the media survives, they get their salary mostly from ads. I usually don't mind because I feel that its such a great magazine, that the ads are worth putting up with. I have felt that at times Cosmopolitan is a little too focused on sex and "please your man" articles.
Save your money for a different magazine
I started ordering Glamour 2 months ago, and honestly it is a huge disappointment to me. There are so many ads in this magazine its unbelievable. Ladies, my advice is to save your money for a different magazine..I dont recommend Glamour at all. ... Read more

a big change for the fashion industry is coming
I recieve different magazines over the course of a year. i don't know why. It simply happens that way.Marie Claire is a pleasant surprise.I found in the first issue I read, a group of writers, editors and all involved with this magazine, not just writing about issues, but being proactive.Everyone on the street in NYC in bikinis and whatever each individual felt comfortable with, to bring awareness to skin cancer.Really cool!Each issue has write ups on a certain amount of relevant international and national news for women and other sexes too.they are adding the right amount of consciousness to an otherwise totally fashion magazine which also i have found surprisingly refreshing and fun. Ace Job Marie Claire staff!!!

I enjoy Marie Claire but they could "step it up" a bit. Splurge vs. Steal probably sells their magazine for them. Often I notice repeat information, or feature products that appear in 4 other fashion magazines. More originality would be helpful. And it really pissed me off that the fengshui article was such a limited target market. (I'll still read next month's addition. I have to find out the best "steal"!)

I thought I'd do without it
I thought, eh, Lucky magazine, i don't really need this anymore... so I broke it off. (I am a college student, so, I'm a little bit poor. Lol.)

Even if this magazine is a mag-a-log, what would we do without it? September issue rocks with Eva Mendes on the cover and some juicy fall finds inside. The biggest news? Lucky has found a way to shop with your cell while stuck in traffic. It's about time technology got up with our lifestyle!

I Love This Magazine!
This magazine single-handedly taught me how to dress with style- and believe me- that's no small feat. I love how Lucky showshow to put pieces together to look fabulous without mindlessly following the crowd. If that's all I had interest in, then I could've simply bought the Lucky shopping guide book.But their reviews of up and coming clothing and jewelry designers, hair, makeup, home decor, and the "How I'm Wired" sections keep me coming back to the magazine.Plus the Lucky Breaks are awesome.My only complaint is the average price of their featured raved-about items.What Lucky is for me is a fantastic template for fashion and style that I can use to find similar items at cheaper prices in stores like H&M, Target, etc.It's so worth the $12/year, and I look anxiously at the beginning of each month for its arrival in my mailbox. ... Lots of nudity
I purchased the Best of Beauty Magazine (Allure October 2006 issue) to see the list of best beauty products.The list was incomplete, so far I've noticed that they left out eye cream this time.Pictures had a lot of nudity so I wouldn't buy it any other month.

Allure is the Beauty expert
I've been subscribing to allure since late 2002, and have always gotten the best beauty advice from them. I love that they show bold and new ideas in makeup, with still options for natural beauty that any woman can use. There's not a topic they haven't covered as far as looking good. Each month, I'm always interested in seeing the new issue and what's in store with makeup, skincare, and fashion. I disagree with one reviewer who said seventeen was a better magazine, allure isn't for teens. I think of it more as a women for all ages magazine. I do think they could use the magazine as a beauty staple, since I'm sick of seeing the worst makeup ever on girls these days.

Great magazine
I love this magazine and have just ordered a subscription for my daughter too.Very good value for the money.

Not what I expected
I was very disappointed in the magazine when I received it.The pages were cheap feeling, they were thin.The binding was not secure.I have to pinch the middle of the magazine together just to look at the pages or all the pages come out in clusters.

A Magazine to Share
I find the Woman's Day magazine a helpful source of information for myself, my family and my friends.As I go through the articles and information in the magazine, I note items of interest for my husband and I (we are retired seniors), and for my daughter who has two children.Since the news that my son and his wife are expecting, I also save information for them.I have tried some of the recipes and were very pleased.Thank you for putting out such a great magazine. ... Another OK glossy magazine
On one level Elle is a lot better than Vogue, it has more in the way of intelligent articles but this can work against it because Elle is known for its fashion, the photography is pretty good (not as good as Vogue mind)and some of the fashion that Elle is advertisingcould be afforded by the ordinary woman in the street, which cannot be said for what Vogue puts on its glossy pages; I mean come on, how many of us can afford the top brand designer labels like Prada?Not many of us that is for sure!
Very unimpressed!
I found this magazine very unrealistic in terms of fashion (not clothing you would actually see people wearing on a daily basis and definitely not clothing that most people can afford).The whole magazine is one big ad.If I wanted that, I could just turn on the tv!

What Makes This Cooking Mag Different?
I've subscribed to Gourmet, Bon Appetite, even Taste Of Home. What I like about Donna Hay's magazine is that every recipe I liked had a wonderful photo (I'm very visual) and easy to follow directions. It's also not cluttered with a lot of "wine tasting in the valley" type of info or gourmet reviews of things I'll never cook. These mags are keepers and you could even mat/frame some of the photos for your kitchen wall. Remember though, the subscription is for 6 issues a year, not 12. Great gift for that cook you just are out of ideas for!

donna hay is excellent!
I enjoy this magazine profusely! It is beautifully stylized,terrific recipes and good for day dreaming too!

I just bought Issue #14 at the local book store and I am very impressed.The photographs are excellent.I assumed the recipes would be long with an exotic ingrediant list but I was pleasantly surprised at their simplicity and that most of the ingrediants were ones I had on hand. Best of all, everthing I've tried so far has tasted great.I did find their publishing schedule a bit confusing as I could not find a date in the magazine and the cover only stated Autumn.I liked it so well I went to a different book store and found Issue #13 as well as cookbooks by Donna Hay. ... 1 star-LOWEST RATING, but I'd give a NOTHIN' TO IT
I think it's riddiculous to put the imagery of these girls as being hugely sexual- continuously confronted with this situation through the media images, t.v. etc.- they are confused, risk taking and not able to be in control of their lives , their choices.We need to cut the double messages out.Wouldn't it be best for the messages of people who really give a damn (parents, teachers, family) to finally be more important than the revenues of a magazine unit??TEEN VOGUE works against this premise.

Sophisticated but Practical
Like most women in the UK, Vogue features fashion that is low-maintenance and stylish. Unlike the US, French, Italian mags, the British edition is for the true brit: easy, fun, casual fashion that is practical for every day life. The only problem is they tend to feature Kate Moss on the cover WAY too much.

Better than its American counterpart by a long shot!
I picked up a copy of British Vogue when I had finished reading my American Vogue for the month, interested in the British Vogue and its take on fashion, plus I've had subscriptions to British magazines in the past and was impressed with them.There are many, many things that set this magazine apart from American Vogue.First, this magazine's main focus is fashion.They devote more space to models than celebrities, socialites, or noblility types.They don't only focus on the high and unreachable fashions but also feature more affordable clothing (granted, its mostly at British stores, but the thought counts) . The articles in British Vogue are more educated, and they cover more ground.Another thing I really liked was that this magazine not only shows fashions and trends but also shows you HOW to put them together, what mixes with what, and what you should be looking at getting.They also talk about staple pieces in this magazine, how and where to buy those.This magazine also has a pride for country that you don't see in the U.S. anymore which is a breath of fresh air.The snootiness of American Vogue, the parading around couture only, the $900 first night sets and whatnot are left out of this magazine.It almost seems like this magazine is more practical than its American counterpart.Lastly, this magazine is of higher quality, with full, glossy pages, a glossy cover, and is overall about 2 inches bigger all the way around than its American counterpart. This magazine is very, very good, I just wish a subscription were more affordable.

British Vogue is an absolute top-notch publication that I would recommend to anyone who is seeking a fashion magazine that is truly about fashion.So much more interesting than its American counterpart, I adore and await nearly each issue that is released (naturally, as with any magazine, there are always months [usually January and July] that are not as stellar as the others).The editorials are almost consistently cutting-edge and the covers still feature models much of the time, as opposed to actresses each and every month.It really does celebrate Britain but it always has an eye on other parts of the globe.The paper on which this magazine is printed is also lovely - always heavy and nice to the touch - and of course the cover is glossy (unlike the matte American Vogue covers that the subscribers are left with).And the occasional "Catwalk Specials" supplements are great - covering so many different shows and "trends" - all smartly laid out.Read more

My second favorite magazine right under Seventeen
This magazine clearly has its individuality and is positively changing. The magazine has affected me and made me more confident, but mostly, it's just been fun stuff to read. Here's more for you. They have their usuals, like the editors note, readers' letters', behind the scenes look, and a freebie calendar. There are the fun things, like secrets, embarassing stories, eerie tales (they usually put this in the magazine every few months), horoscopes, and some CG! manga. The features. Of course the features. Always good to read. This includes a set of clothing looks that are bright and fun, but sometimes they'll show wierd clothing looks that you'd be thinking you'd never wear in a million years. Other than that, for the rest of the features, there are makeup looks, and three or four extra articles that I find fun but dont affect me. There's the Get Real section, where they have a short story about one girl who makes a difference in one important area of life. They also have a letter from one of the CG! workers on a troubled area of her life and how she dealt with the issue. Then there's Project 2024, where an article is featured in every issue on a famous person who makes a difference and tells you secrets for success. There is the guys section, where they have eye candy, 2 or 3 feature stories that help you out in situations in your relationship, and love stories that are just fun to read. There's the Body and Soul section where this mainly focuses on health and exercise. And the CG! look, that features TONS of makeup and beauty secrets. This magazine is one of the best out there, don't let this magazine slip you if you're looking for a good one!

Good Teen Magazine
I like Cosmo Girl magazine, but I do not like it as much as Seventeen magazine. Here are the Pros and Cons.
Very Realistic
Compared to all the other teen magazines I have read/subscribed to (Teen People, Seventeen, Elle Girl, Teen Vogue, GL) CosmoGirl is the one you can relate to the most. Instead of showing a lot of clothes and makeup, it focuses on your inner beauty. There are many articles about real life that is relateable (like The Culture of the Rich). It features many articles that focuses on making the world a better place (like The Power of Change). I particularily love the Body & Soul section, where they feature articles about how to eat right, and a monthly workout. ... Read more
