A Sip in Time
A friend introduced me to this fun magazine.Without being ponderous, it has more useful and accessible information than I've seen in one food or wine journal in a long time.I've learned practical things like not to buy the econony sized vermouth, 'cause it won't keep well once opened, or the best sparkling ciders, what wine to bring as a dinner party gift, and why Guinness tastes better in Ireland. It has great virtual trips - like to Thailand, Oaxaco, and Jamaica woven around the theme of the liquid pleasures produced in each country - everything from tea to rum, or chocolate. I find it humanizes the products from all over the world that I take for granted - while giving me imaginative ways to serve them. When CNN starts to drown me with bad news, this snappy mag is as refreshing as Thai iced tea or a tall Vermouth cassis. ... Read more

HAVE BACK ISSUES FOR SALE, NEED ANY?
I HAVE 20 BACK ISSUES IN PERFECT CONDITION, FROM JUNE/JULY 2001 TO jANUARY 2005. ENTIRE 6 ISSUES FROM YEAR 2002 AND ENTIRE 6 ISSUES FOR 2003.
Good Magazine but ...
I have had the subscription for 2.5 years now and I enjoy getting it bimonthly. The recipes often do call for hard to find ingrediants (since I don't live in a real big city) and most of them take alot of prep time and cooking but that's why the magazine is COOKING PLEASURES. It's not Quick 'N Easy.
what's not to like?
I borrowed several issues of this magazine (as well as Gourmet and Bon Appetit) from my friend. After reading them I decided to subscribe to this one in particular. Reason - lots and lots of cool recipes, cooking advice and very few ads (as compared to the other two).Yes, they do not provide pictures with each and every recipe, but others don't as well, do they? ... Wallow in your foodieness
A friend gave us a gift subscription to The Art of Eating, last year, and I'm about to renew the subscription for myself. This is only a quarterly publication, and it isn't very big (48 pages or so, with no ads) -- but it's always an enjoyable read.

Great for busy families who like to cook and enjoy family meals together
I really enjoy this magazine. It does have many simple dishes made with just as much love for those nights you don't have time to open up a gourmet magazine and cook.I think anything that encourages people to cook and put meals on the tables that will get the family to the table together is a good thing. I like recipes that require time to do sometimes that are from complete scratch, but during the week I don't always have time for that. This magazine gives you home cooked recipes without tons of time in the kitchen. I love the layout and pictures and the back of the magazine where people write in asking for recipes and such. There are recipes that are fast and there are some that require more time.If you like magazines like Taste of Home I think you will enjoy this one as well.

great if you like processed food
I cook almost everything from scratch, so I figured Home Cooking would be for people like me, who make the effort to make good quality home cooking without the silly ingredients you see in some of those gourmet magazines. Instead, recipes consist of packaged dough in a can, bottled sauces, etc. I don't need to read a magazine to figure out that I can put a jar of spaghetti sauce on some pasta and add velveeta to make a casserole! ... Spice it up!
This is a very good magazine, I have been getting it since 1988 and has improved 100% since the early days of this publication! Well written, great pictures of food! They travel all around the world bringing new and exciting food's that we do not have here in America! You will be very pleased!

A great magazine
This is one of the most fun food magazines I have ever come across.It has plenty of good recipes that are relatively accessible to the average cook, but it also has lots of articles that are both informative & entertaining.
Some like it hot!
