These magazines make me look like I know what I'm doing
I'm a sucker for comfort food. I was raised by my single father who was an atrocious cook. Every Sunday we would go over to my grandmother's house for dinner and that was my sanctuary from his horrible tasting meals. She would make fried chicken, meat loafs, home made lasagnas, fluffy mashed potatoes, banana cream pie...you know...comfort grandma type food. Well these magazines have those kinds of meals; just real good, simple yet delectable hearty meals.
Good food fast
I subscribed to this magazine when I found out that over time, I'd accumulated over 20 issues of it just picking it up at the checkout counter at my local grocery store every now and then. I must admit, even though the subscription is a bit pricey, it is a great buy and to me at least, worth every penny. I await it with great expectation each month wondering what tasty novelties they've come up with next.Read more

This magazine is a really good source of winemaking tips for the home winemaker. Throughout the year, this magazine provides a very solid set of articles that cover a wide variety of topics. The articles are written at a level appropriate for the non-chemistry major in college who is interested in making wine. Every edition of the magazine seems to include at least one article by a commercial winemaker -- and there seem to be additional brief tips often contributed by other winemakers as well.Read more

A delightful hand in the kitchen
I have to say that I bought this magazine countless times next to the cash register of my local superstore before I finally decided to take the plunge and subscribe. I�m very happy with my decision. This magazine has new creations in addition to old classics as well as updates on those old classics. The instructions are far above any other magazine's and appropriate for any cook, whether a rookie or a seasoned pro. The recipes are varied, flavorful and they even go ahead and suggest a few variations and substitutions of your own. You'll never stop wanting to try something new and then experiment again on those recipes. As far as quality goes, the paper's smooth and glossy and every recipe has a big, beautiful picture to stimulate your imagination. I really like this magazine and I recommend it to everyone.

Order never came
I ordered this as a gift for my neice for Christmas.It's June, and she has yet to get a copy.I called them in March, and they verified they have her correct name and address in their computer.I'll going to ask for a refund.

"The other sister"
Since returning from a Tuscan holiday in summer of 2001, I could not get enough "authentic" Italian food to satisfy my now-wiser palate. Enter Italian Cooking and Living (and its sister publication, La Cucina Italiana) to assist me in recreating so many foods I experienced over there. I have never found an issue wanting in ideas and diversity, and of late the format has been enhanced with rich photography and more adventurous dishes.My sole complaint is that it isn't three times bigger, with even more tantalizing recipes :(

Nice periodical for those "serious" home cooks
A passionate home cook that has been honing her cooking skills for the last 25 years, concentrating on Italian cooking for the last 10 years, writes this review.My favorite cookbooks are "The Professional Chef" by the Culinary Institute and "Culinary Artistry".I love cooking and own more than 500 cookbooks.I am very interested in both taste and presentation of meals.I thoroughly enjoy this magazine, but it is probably not for everyone.The target audience for this magazine is those that love good food and want to spend time in the kitchen even though the magazine also covers other topics.

Overpriced
While this magazine provides useful information to the homebrewer, it is increadibly overpriced.Especially when you consider that for the cost of 2-3 issues you could buy a full book such as the Joy of Homebrewing, Clonebrews or Designing Great Beers.It's unfortunate that the American Homebrewers Association essentially uses the procedes from this magazine to fund extravagant trips for the staff to the many homebrew competitions and conventions held each year.Sounds like a pretty nice life...write a few articles a year and get to travel for free to cool cities and drink great beer.

Great Ideas When You're Stumped
I have loved the first two issues that I have received of this magazine!I pull it out each time I get ready to go grocery shopping and I always find recipes that I can prepare in about an hour with inexpensive ingredients.The magazine seems to capitalize on whatever season the issue is for (for example, lots of pasta salad recipes for the hot summer months).

Beware This Company!
Do NOT, under any circumstances, give these folks your credit card number. I noticed a $28.00 charge on my current statement, where they charged my card without authorization. When questioned, their representatives at Synepse, in Lewiston, ME claimed we had ordered the subscription by responding to an infomercial advertisement. This is totally false, and a reprehensible business practice. Avoid them at all costs.

Good Magazine & Very User-Friendly
I enjoy Easy Home Cooking magazine. Each issue has several articles on types of food or themes (Seafood Dishes, Salads, No-Bake Desserts, etc). Each article has many types of recipes related to that theme, for a wide variety.

great for keeping up with my diet
I hit my weight loss goal, and wanted an easy way to keep up with the South Beach Diet lifestyle. The newsletter keeps me informed on diet changes, new recipes and health oriented news. This beautiful and well-written newsletter delivered each month keeps me on track!

Extremely Informative & Useful
The South Beach Diet Newsletter just arrived in the mail. I found it to be VERY informative, helpful and practical. Each section offered useful advice that I am able to apply to my lifestyle immediately. A great compliment to the South Beach Diet Book. The 6 recipes are unique and of course healthy. I made the Lemon-Caper Chicken last night and it was excellent. I am already looking forward to the next edition.

Cookbook Digest - Well Written
This cookbook magazine contains a nice balance of recipies.It selects the best of all new cookbooks.

Biggest Disappointment of all my Magazines
This magazine is soooo overpriced!The content is reasonable, but too little and the quality of this publication is so bad.The size is too small, the paper is barely comparable to newsprint.It always arrives in my mailbox in tatters.I will definitely not renew my subscription. On a scale of 1 to 10, this rates a -1 compared to Intermezzo or Cook's Illustrated which rate 10+! ... Read more

A Sip in Time
A friend introduced me to this fun magazine.Without being ponderous, it has more useful and accessible information than I've seen in one food or wine journal in a long time.I've learned practical things like not to buy the econony sized vermouth, 'cause it won't keep well once opened, or the best sparkling ciders, what wine to bring as a dinner party gift, and why Guinness tastes better in Ireland. It has great virtual trips - like to Thailand, Oaxaco, and Jamaica woven around the theme of the liquid pleasures produced in each country - everything from tea to rum, or chocolate. I find it humanizes the products from all over the world that I take for granted - while giving me imaginative ways to serve them. When CNN starts to drown me with bad news, this snappy mag is as refreshing as Thai iced tea or a tall Vermouth cassis. ... Read more

HAVE BACK ISSUES FOR SALE, NEED ANY?
I HAVE 20 BACK ISSUES IN PERFECT CONDITION, FROM JUNE/JULY 2001 TO jANUARY 2005. ENTIRE 6 ISSUES FROM YEAR 2002 AND ENTIRE 6 ISSUES FOR 2003.
Good Magazine but ...
I have had the subscription for 2.5 years now and I enjoy getting it bimonthly. The recipes often do call for hard to find ingrediants (since I don't live in a real big city) and most of them take alot of prep time and cooking but that's why the magazine is COOKING PLEASURES. It's not Quick 'N Easy.
what's not to like?
I borrowed several issues of this magazine (as well as Gourmet and Bon Appetit) from my friend. After reading them I decided to subscribe to this one in particular. Reason - lots and lots of cool recipes, cooking advice and very few ads (as compared to the other two).Yes, they do not provide pictures with each and every recipe, but others don't as well, do they? ...
