5-0 out of 5 stars The "Best of the West"Western History Magazine
This magazine has it all!Detailed descriptions of what actually happened.Great biographies and tales from the lives of historical figures such as Pancho Villa, Billy the Kid, Doc Holliday, Geronimo and lots more!Learn about the daily lives of people in the Old West and explore interesting locations!Even the ads are great to read through such as a man who makes handles for golf clubs out of something that you truly would not expect proving that you truly can use every part of the beasts!

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MAGAZINE!!!
This is the greatest magazine I've ever seen. I love the stories. The pictures are wonderful. You'll never see another magazine like this one. I did my Christmas shopping out of it last year and I loved what their advertisers had to offer. Can't wait to see the next issue.

5-0 out of 5 stars True West Breathes New Life into the Old West
I just finished reading both the January and February/March 2003 issues of True West magazine. What a treat! This periodical covers the American West in a style which is simultaneously engaging and enlightening. If you are a history buff, lover of western lore or just want a satisfying read, pick up this magazine.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Inventive History of Technology
This magazine is devoted to American inventions and technology that have affected our lives. In essence, this magazine is a historical magazine about American technology.Within each issue are multiple articles about a historical invention. The articles can either focus on the technology or focus on an individual who has been a key contributor to the advancement of that technology.Typically, each issue also has an interview with an inventor or inventors whose contributions have materially affected our lives or society.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is easily my favorite magazine
I wish this magazine came out more often (as another reviewer said). It would be fascinating for anyone with the slightest interest in the history of technology and engineering.Recent articles have covered vacuum tubes, their history, and why some are still used now, and nuclear power and how that industry stalled in America.I remember reading another article in the mid-'90s about a guy in New York City who shoveled coal for a public school furnace. He explained his job and how hard it was to buy a coal shovel (the hardware store people couldn't believe it).A few years later they followed up with a note that all public schools in NYC had been converted from coal, and that the coal-shoveler's job was MUCH easier maintaining the new furnace.Stories on iron bridges and how Necco wafers are made (with the same machine for 100 years or so) and how buttons are made from seashells and how paper clips are made and how a Hollywood actress designed a frequency-jumping weapons guidance system and all sorts of others are included.Lots of cool articles about how everyday (and not-so-common) technologies went from ideas in someone's mind to products that are ready for use.

5-0 out of 5 stars History of technology for the layman.
Of all the magazines I currently subscribe to, I have had this one the longest.Short, concise articles on everyday items are written for the layman and really open up the history of technology to the reader.I just wish I would have kept all the issues from the start of my subscription. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME magazine
I subscribed to this magazine for my son three years ago... when he was in the third grade. It is packed full of great information about the particular topic it covers. Each issue is devoted to one particular topic, and we (yes "we") look forward to each and every issue. It is easy to read, but also quite comprehensive. It is a great jumping off point for studying more into a particular topic in history, or as a reference. If you subscribe, make room on your shelves... because you will NOT throw these away. You will want to keep them forever! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Customer Service...EVER!
I ordered a gift subscription for my mom in November 2005.German Life received full payment for the subscription at that time.It is now April 26, 2006 and still not one magazine!I have emailed them several times from their website and have never received a reply.I called in March and was told the label had been printed and my mom should receive her first magazine soon.Still no magazine.
5-0 out of 5 stars Love this Magazine--great travel tips &insight into culture
This magazine has beautiful photography and excellent articles.3-0 out of 5 stars Lots of wurst, but not much meat
I bought a subscription for my mother (Munchen born, still has accent) last year for christmas. I had never seen the magazine on a news stand, so I took a chance. She was very happy to get it and she said she liked the stories. Her complaint being that there wasn't enough in it to keep her interested or wanting a renewal. I glanced through a copy and echoed her review. She enjoyed the pictures and often took the magazine to work to show her co-workers places she had been etc. Read more

Unlike many of my friends this was not a traumatic time for me. However it took quite some time before I could read anything about the era. Now that it is so long ago that it is sort of a dream I wonder if I should have kept up with this magazine.

I discovered this magazine a few months ago, thanks to a friend. It is wonderful!I've lived in Florida for 20 years, and they constantly let me know about fun places I've never even heard of, not to mention all the great history stories.I honestly never knew Florida could be so interesting, once you get past the stuff everyone knows about.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pleasant Nostalgia
If you are like me, and have a fondness for the 1930's and 1940's, you will love this magazine. It is filled with warm and funny stories of those happy days gone by. Times may have been hard, but they really were better. Neighbors were real neighbors, growing up was more innocent, families were closer, and when you married your high school sweetheart, it stuck.

1-0 out of 5 stars Made Up My Mind
I have a subscription to Royalty Magazine and I was going to subscribe to Majesty, but after reading some of the reviews I decided not to because of the bias of it's owner/editor, Ingrid Seward. And also because it only reports on the British royals and now that they have let the "Mongrel" into the family I do not want to hear about her. I have also read reports that she was a big hit here in the U.S..Ha! She wasn't. Thank you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Royalty is much better
not by a whole lot, but I like Royalty's focus on the "other" monarchies in Europe and of the world and not just on the ever boring, fuddy duddy "Windsors."
5-0 out of 5 stars Love this magazine
Majesty magazine features mostly the British royal family. They do cover other European and some world royal families. This magazine is great for pictures and articles. I do enjoy the articles on homes and the family members in a historical perspective. The editor seems to favor the Charles "camp" more than the Diana "camp" but they still feature both of them in a positive light and in a respectful manner. I wish I could see issues from the beginning, but I have subscribed to this magazine for the last three years. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This magazine will insult your intelligence on every page
I live in Dallas, TX, and I have bought this magazine a few times and my wife has bought it several times. It is a local magazine with an appealing cover and it contains local "celebrity gossip". This is what has prompted us to buy it (shame on us). However, you shall not judge a magazine by its cover page, and from now on we will not buy this magazine again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Vibrant Examination of International Issues
An avid consumer of foreign policy publications, the Brown Journal of World Affairs stands out amongst its peers as the preeminent journal on world affairs. It brings together a variety of writers to engage in intellectual discussions of breadth and vibrancy that transcend the scope of mainstream media. It manages to provide insights into issues that further the pursuit of sophisticated research while being accessible to most readers. The Journal has consistently chosen topics that are often neglected and illuminates them to world acknowledgement. The current issue on the European Union Foreign and Security Policy taps into a debate that is at the forefront of IR scholarship, while the section on Iran covers an often overlooked key player in the Middle East. With these dynamic section topics I can only applaud the Journal and wish it success in the future. 5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS MAGAZINE!!!
I am 11 years old and I just started reading this magazine.Right from the beginnning I was captivated!America's Civil War goes into the not very well known details of the Civil War.I recommend this magazine for people who already have a really good sense of Civil War history, but those who don't will still love it. The articles are very engaging. If you like any history from the Punic War to World War II, you'll love this magazine!
1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly edited historical rubbish
Truth-be-told, I hated "HAVING" to give this magazine even one star, but that was the least I could do via this rating system. This magazine has some good writers but needs a new editor. Mr. Shoaf is very bad at his job, clearly, and seems to use and reuse the "buddy system" in using writers. Perhaps he gets a kickback? At any rate, this is, overall, a cruddy example of journalism. My facts tell me it should fall under fiction rather than nonfiction in many issues. I am done with it. Get a new editor and perhaps I will reinvestigate the publication. Until then, so long. I have no time for absolute rubbish!

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful magazine for Civil War buffs!
I've been a faithful subscriber to "America's Civil War" since 1993, and I'd say that it's easily one of the best history-related magazines in existence. I read each issue cover-to-cover, even the letters to the editor. Long after I first started studying the Civil War almost 15 years ago, I'm still learning a lot from this and other magazines like "Civil War Times Illustrated" (which is also great). In each issue of "America's Civil War" you can find a variety of articles in the following categories: personality (which focuses on a specific soldier of officer), eyewitness to war (great first-hand accounts from both soldiers and civilians), men and materiel (weapons and equipment), reviews, commands (focuses on individual units), preservation (of artifacts and historic sites), and of course several articles which can cover a wide range of topics, from battles and leaders to politics and slavery. Although I wish more would be written about the neglected Western Theater, I feel that the articles cover most aspects of the war very well. I love the artwork and outstanding maps that accompany the articles. And, "America's Civil War" is all about pleasing the readers. Back in 1997 I mailed in a questionnaire from "America's Civil War" after writing that my favorite issue had a great article on the famous Irish Brigade. A few months later a new article on the Irish Brigade (by the very same author) appeared in their magazine and I was very impressed by this. Bottom line: if you are a Civil War buff this magazine is just what you need! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Air Classics Magazine Good and Bad
I agree with the earlier review that there are many better vintage aviation magazines out there. The two mentioned (FlyPast and Aeroplane Monthly) have less usefulness in the U.S. though, because of their primary U.K. and European focus.Air Classics is a good snapshot review of vintage/warbird flying in this country, and its extensive treatment of Post World War II subjects is refreshing with all the emphasis on WWII in other warbird venues.Michael O'Leary does seem talented, but the Magazine suffers from his name being too frequently seen in the articles. Also in the latest issue (Nov. 2006, I think?), O'Leary really goes over the top in criticizing "internet crowd" armchair critics of the "Thunder Over Michigan" air show in August 2006.O'Leary using some non-professional vulgar language in the article that speaks very poorly for the magazine.I hope this is an abberation.
3-0 out of 5 stars Air Classics
Air Classics appeals to those who like vintage WWII aircraft, although other classic aircraft are also covered. The talented Michael O'Leary seems to write and photograph the keystone articles each month, with other writes and photographers contributing. Unfortunately, for many years, this magazine's format has leaned towards larger, less tightly packed print, and more advertisements than meat. I personally had read and collected every single issue since Vol. 1, #1, printed in 1964, and gave the entire collection away to a local aviation museum a few years ago after letting my subscription expire, and haven't read Air Classics since. There are far superior, similarly themed aviation magazines out there to spend your money on, FlyPast and Aeroplane monthly being the two I'd recommend. ... Read more

I've been a subscriber since the magazine debuted and have always looked forward to it's arrival.Articles are submitted by some of the top names in Egyptology and are both factually strong and immensely readable. The photos are stunning and not just the standard ones that you have seen over and over again. Each issue has book reviews and news of current discoveries in addition to the in-depth articles.I can't imagine that you would be dissatisfied with KMT if you are an experienced or novice Egyptophile. ...
