2-0 out of 5 stars Paying mostly for ads
The heft and page quality of this magazine is impressive, but it's mostly advertising.Very disappointing. It does have some useful info and I do enjoy reading it (which is why it got 2 stars from me), but I definitely won't be renewing my subscription.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Magazine Diva Says........
REAL SIMPLE is exactly what the name implies. There is no clutter on the pages, which is fitting because this is the best magazine for people combatting clutter. It's excellent for those individuals that can't multi-task well and never throw anything away!

5-0 out of 5 stars I *adore* this magazine
I am not a big magazine reader -- never have been, never really had time to!However, a friend of mine at work kept bringing me copies of this magazine to read...after falling in love every time read it I finally I had to get a subscription of my own!

Wifey and I are always so excited when the new Dwell arrives in the mail. This is the cutting edge of architecture and design magazines, and we are always looking for new ideas and trends in its many colorful and well-photographed pages.A truly great monthly mailer.

4-0 out of 5 stars ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST
The images in this magazine are always first rate and the editors get access to houses no one else does. The writing is also very good and the houses chosen for each month are always in varing designs and spectucular. This magazine does have a certain reputation of being on all the coffee tables of the wealthy, but is not Town and Country, it really is a magazine that takes its name seriously and the writers are well informed and have skill.Pick it up sometime, it's worth the effort.

4-0 out of 5 stars House Pornography
In summary, this magazine portrays houses that you can't possibly ever hope to own in an "airbrushed" presentation that can't possibly match real life; it is "house pornography".It is exciting to read and puts plenty of ideas into your head.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great magazine!
I love this magazine. Some reviewers have stated that they disliked some of the interiors. That's fine and fun!I show my husband some of the things (he's a graphic designer) and we have a great time laughing at some of the designs.Other times it's absolutely great. The latest issue (Aug. 2004) is one of the best and the theme is Exotic Homes Around The World, and they are all fantastic.

1-0 out of 5 stars Who dominos?
I've seen three issues of domino, (all free, thanks to the doctor's office - that's me, the frugal felon), and have found nothing to relate to. The spreads are homes of very wealthy people with extravagant taste and resources. Even so, I've never seen anything remotely appealing in the mag. Definitely not my style.(LOOK, she spelled 'definitely' correctly!)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best new home/gift resource
Great design for home decorators.Great resource for incorporating new ideas, old favorites, and a touch of the different.Resources are clearly identified with prices and ordering information--especially online. It's a new type of home decorating magazine.I love Home and Garden, but Domino is better for resources and ordering.

1-0 out of 5 stars Excellent magazine, terrible subscription service
Save yourself a headache and don't order Domus through Amazon.com. There is a definite problem with distribution. I ordered my subscription in the end of February and didn't receive my first issue until the end of May!! EACH month I have had to contact Customer Service to get my monthly copy. Meanwhile, I could have easily have picked it up at a local bookstore.
1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon at their WORST
I have enjoyed every issue of Domus that I've ever seen - that's the reason my girlfriend ordered me a subscription for christmas. Now it is almost May, and over four months since the initial order was placed. I have yet to receive my first issue. My girlfriend has called several times, to which Amazon's [normally helpful] staff reply that "it is probably in the mail" and we shouldn't cancel the order. Sheesh! None of the customer service reps have been able to track the order. They claim they will call back, but we don't hear from them. 5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST

3-0 out of 5 stars beauty and advertisements
I just got my first issue. There is great beauty in the designs however there are a lot of advertisements. I do have great hope for this magazine and hope it comes true! I can't wait for more to come.

3-0 out of 5 stars More Ads Than Anything
I just received my first two issues yesterday. This magazine is page after page of advertisements. The thing that really bugs me about that is - companys run the same advertisements in the same magazines again and again so two issues are virtually the magazine since there are very few articles.
1-0 out of 5 stars Mostly ads
This magazine comes with lots of advertisements - 70% or more. Plus, articles (less than 15 articles in every issue) in the magazines are not very useful.I subscribed the magazine because it is inexpensive and it is rated high by other subscribers. Now I realize I made a mistake. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Shallow -- exploits endangered species for "fashion"
I was a loyal subscriber to Elle Decor until they started using endangered species' pelts as decorative accents in their magazine photos. This latest (November 2006) issue was the last straw - featuring a zebra's pelt used as rug in a guady room full of gold details.Three more zebra pelt rugs are shown prominently in the magazine's pages, obviously planted in the featured homes by the publication's staff, who clearly think endangered species pelts are the latest fashion. When I wrote to express my concern about endangered animal parts featured in an earlier issue, I received no response from the magazine - they only print glowing, fawning letters to the editor on their "Mailbox" page...never any criticisms.I am taking this magazine off my list of home decor magazines that I subscribe to - I recommend Home magazine, Architectural Digest, or O at Home instead.Style without conscience is shallow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
I'm an interior design major and my mother bought me a subscription to this magazine for Christmas this year...I love it! A previous review mentioned that this magazine advertises things that were wayyy out of her budget. Well, that may be true but if you're creative, it can give you a lot of great inspiration!

5-0 out of 5 stars The most elegant magazine on the market
I am a long time reader of Elle Decor and I adore it! I save every issue and constantly look at them for inspiration. As one of the few design magazines to not go totally down market in the past few years, I really appreciate the integrity of the houses and apartments ED shows.

1-0 out of 5 stars A magazine of ads
If you are into high brow interior design then this is for you.But my problem is not so much with the magazine as it is about their customer service at Veranda and the subscription department's ability to read. They are by far the worst!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Magazine, highly recommended!!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Spot the Mies van der Rohe daybed in each issue!
Like "Where's Waldo", it seems every issue must have at least one, if not several Mies van der Rohe daybeds. While this is admitedly a classic piece of furniture, one gets the impression that there are a gaggle of designers telling their clients, "You have to have one of these, they're what's IN!"Most of the features in Metropolitan Home suffer from the same fate; dreary antiseptic homes with the same dreary interiors that obviously were foisted upon gullible, uninformed clients by designers who know how to make an easy buck."Modern" equals, of course, a Mies van der Rohe daybed (notice how many times it shows up in this review?), otherwise you get month after month of 1970's florals, faux Louis the Whatever tables.Even using feature extraction, wading through the dreck and finding something useable for your own purposes, it's painful to look through this magazine. If you really want ideas for making your house reflect you, trust yourself and what YOU like, and if you do like Mies van der Rohe daybeds, by all means get one.Just don't plunk one in your sun room because you were told it's trendy. If you like the Modern style, look up the works of Hans Wegner and Peter Hvidt and go from there; their furniture still looks stylish after 50 years of hard use by real families and is sturdy as well.Maybe you want a house where nobody is allowed to set foot in any of the rooms and amounts to a bad hodge-podge of styles that all seem a bit busy and bumpy. For everyone else, think about the things you'd like to see if you walked into a room, save your money and skip this magazine.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Contemporary Aesthetic In Home Design
I subscribe to many magazines, but of all the magazines I receive every month, my two favorites are "Dwell" and "Metropolitan Home," which both focus on the contemporary aesthetic in home design, renovation, and decorating. "Metropolitan Home" is my preferred magazine for decorating related tips, while I rely on "Dwell" more for renovation and design ideas.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cottage, Not Country -- Style Galore
Finally a magazine that knows cottage. Cottage isn't country, although it can have some of those elements. It isn't necessarily small, but it can be. It doesn't necessarily mean old, though it can be. Country can be modern and hip or antique and traditional. Above all, it's casual and comfortable. It's a place you want to come home to. It's a feel, an ambiance, a flair for putting things together that don't come in room-to-go packages from furniture store decorators. I especially like the various styles presented in each issue -- ultra modern, traditional, log cabin, seaside, California contemporary, etc. and the monthly comparison of styles in one furniture grouping. It allows you to grab ideas from the entire spectrum of cottage style and to mix and match for yourself. I also like how easy the how-to advice is to follow. From paint advice to luscious gardens to interesting food, this magazine has it all. The accompanying website is great. Products and paints are easy to find. I've banished all the other decorating magazines from my subscription list.

5-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't everyone want a cottage?
This is my favorite home/decorating/architecture magazine of all time.Perhaps it is a fortuitous coincidence, but "Cottage Living" always features homes in areas of the country that are very interesting to me - like the Adirondacks, Boulder CO, Arlington VA, Asheville NC and New Orleans. The editors have a good understanding of cottage admirers and their interests. Therefore, they include floor plans, before & after pictures, and brief back-stories that give us a glimpse into the life of the cottages and of their inhabitants.

Cote Sud is a compilation of the loveliest magazine pages you'll ever see.It covers southern French houses, gardens, hotels, restaurants and decorating, as well as beautiful travel articles of places outside France. It is so beautifully photographed that I find myself going back over and over the issues for continuing inspiration.Because it is shipped from France it takes awhile to arrive but it is always delightful and well worth the wait.

2-0 out of 5 stars Plenty of European, Not Much Southern
Anyone who thinks this is representative of "Southern", isdefinitely not Southern. I found the flavor of the magazine to be strictly European. The two biggest points of contention were the number of advertisements and the coverage of overblown, ostentatious European decor. There are no real Southern influences on any of the interior pictorials shown. You can find a number of beautiful, understated Southern homes that have stayed true to their original decor- they are out there- just not in this particular magazine.

5-0 out of 5 stars comfort and elegance
This is a lovely magazine, with lots of articles on Southern style and luxurious living. Every issue has "Accents", showing what is new and trendy and where to buy it; "Calendar", for events and exhibitions worth seeing, and "Educated Eye", with advice on what to look for to evaluate antique furniture, etc. if you are a serious collector.5-0 out of 5 stars the best decorating magazine!
I subscribe to all of the home and garden magazines and Southern Accents is the best, bar none. The houses featured are absolutely dreamy--the photography is gorgeous--and while the magazine doesn't offer how-to decorating ideas, there is so much inspiration.I find it to be intelligently written...which is rare in a decorating magazine. The articles on antiques are particularly informative. This magazine will appeal to anyone who is interested in beautiful, classic design--whether or not you live in the South! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Creative girl
I LOVE Vogue living from Australia. I don't know what it is about countries outside of the US but their design sense is more pure and absolutely more creative. This magazine rings all the right bells with me and I have never throw a copy away. If you crave style that is different from every other magazine that is sold on the mainland US I would say spring the extra couple bucks for this gem.

2-0 out of 5 stars Brighton Mums Ahoy!
Calling all Brighton Mums! This magazine presents a relatively contrived viewpoint on contemporary interior design, smothered in advertising for crisp, white bed linen and pressed quartz bench tops.A pretty lousy effort as Australia's top selling interior design magazine.Though designed for the wealthy mainstream Brighton market, Vogue Interiors will satisfy anyone who doesn't quite know what the colour brown will "work" with. If you are open minded and passionate.Flaunt is for you. The most amazing photoshoots, with a vision that only a freak can relate too (in a good way).the creativity is always has a unique flavor with a new twist monthly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Such a cool magazine!!!
GREAT photos! Cool little articles, though i would really only get this magazine for the excellent photography because it doesn't really focus on mass-media current events that you'd find in, say, a People or an Us Weekly. It has an upscale feel to it, and you can tell that there is a true vision behind this product. Anyone that is into the arts, particularly coiture, modeling, and photography would love this magazine for its visual energy and eccentricity.

4-0 out of 5 stars Strange, but refreshing
I saw this magazine while browsing a local bookstore and it was a magazine that stood out for some reason...I picked it up and flipped through a few pages and came across an article on Maggie Gyllanhall.I had recently watched "Secretary," and I liked her, so I bought it.I'm not much for fashion magazines but this is much different from others like Vogue. After buying my first Flaunt magazine, I wanted to buy more, but needless to say, the bookstore has not gotten any in for a long time...:(This magazine will be great for readers who are bored with the same crap churned out in every other magazine out there... ... I expected the magazine to be full of old world cottages and castles, and although these do feature, it is also packed full of the most stunning photography showing ideas for all styles of homes. Light, airy interiors - both historical and contemporary, international shopping ideas and English travel. It's surprisingly relevant to anyone wanting inspirational ideas for their home whereever you live. It's probably the most beautiful interiors magazine I've ever seen.
