The Used Car Salesman Approach
The magazine is not bad, marginal at best. To my surprise, I am now a member of a club. I also was surprised to receive the first of a series of gardening books (mine to keep for a small fee).
A nice magazine but....
After ordering this magazine it sems that I've got a gardening membership, which was okay I guess, but now I've got some book sitting in my office that I can preview for 10 days and decide to keep for the low low cost of only..... you get the picture.All I wanted was a gardening magazine.If I wanted to join a book club or a gardening club than I would have.I really feel like I was decieved by the discription of this magazine and now I get the joyful fun of returning items I don't want or getting charged for them.Yeah! ... There's no place like . . . my backyard!!!!
This is a GREAT magazine! I love the beautiful pictures . . . even if I'm not looking for a project - this is enjoyable just to look through. Worth investigating.......
You might try subscribing to this periodical if you have a desire to learn more about herbs, be they medicinal or culinary or for some other human purpose. It's just coincidence of course, but I had a migraine headache this past week and what is the lead article for the Spring 2005 issue?"Chart a course for Migraine Relief".Now how's that for currency? I find various HQ articles are "right on the money" in that respect.

A balanced view?
As a subscriber to several flower related magazines from across the world I consider this magazine a valuable and interesting read, and one which I would certainly recommend investing in. The Flower Arranger often showcases designs which are `fairly traditional' and perhaps `contrived.', but these are interspersed with other more 'of the moment' design ideas, and numerous other interesting articles about all kinds of related subjects. There are all kinds of foibles and controversies in this very emotive and personal industry/pastime.For example, I believe the term 'contemporary' is sometimes confusing and always changing - as often there is nothing more appropriate than a simple collection of materials displayed in an appropriate setting yet it is fitting and 'of the moment' so must be contemporary - but is it??!!Whilst the Flower Arranger may veer towards `safe' and `arranged' rather than `outlandish' or `startlingly simple' there is always plenty to glean from the multitude of contributors.Sure there are always arrangements and articles which do not fit in with your personal approach or interest in the subject, but if viewed objectively, they will aid the discovery, learning curve and development of your personal style, which is surely what it's all about?Often looking at a piece of work and working out why you don't like it is as valuable as looking at a design which you find enchanting - because, as with any art form, if the work has caused a reaction from the viewer it has been successful. And thinking about the how, why and what ifs is how we all discover, learn and explore the never-ending possibilities of combining the treasures which nature has to offer to make an important and lasting visual contribution to our fast-moving, ever-changing lives. There is something for everyone in this magazine.

This magazine has altered its layout now to remove most of its direct information for members of the NAFAS Association, however, it is still aimed at the members of the organisation.

Good Information; Lots of Advertisements
I have subscribed to 'Phoenix Home & Garden' for many years, and I look forward to every issue. There are loads of useful articles about living in Arizona (or any desert environment) including realty, water conservation, and, of course, design. The magazine has great examples of outstanding Southwest architecture and design in every issue, though I wish they would talk more about sub-$1,000,000 homes. All in all, the text and articles are well done, consistently informative, and beautifully illustrated with outstanding color photographs. A MUST FOR ANY ARIZONA RESIDENT
Phoenix Home and Garden is easily one of the best "home and garden" type magazines currently available.I highly recommend it to anyone with a flair (or even a modicum of interest) for design and a desire to live comfortably in a low maintenance home situated in ANY desert environment.They've left nothing out!Read more

A mistake.
I thought the title reflected the actual size of the magazine, so I was saddened when it arrived. I'd built a tiny coffee table for the sole purpose of displaying my new magazine, but it collapsed under the load of the blow-in subscription cards.
A Bonsai Isn't Genetically Dwarfed Or Kept Small By Cruelty
This is a great magazine if you need a hobby.A Bonsai tree and pot form a single harmonious unit where one compliments the other.The translation of an ancient Japanese scroll written around the Kamakura period says: "To appreciate and find pleasure in curiously curved potted trees is to love deformity". Out of all of the magazines that there are, this is the only one that I renew every year.Orchids is the magazine for the American Orchid Society (AOS) and it contains tons of information.Everything from orchid culture, conservation and even an advice column.In the back is advertisements from growers all over the world.The prices for the plants are great.Read more
