4-0 out of 5 stars a big change for the fashion industry is coming
I recieve different magazines over the course of a year. i don't know why. It simply happens that way.Marie Claire is a pleasant surprise.I found in the first issue I read, a group of writers, editors and all involved with this magazine, not just writing about issues, but being proactive.Everyone on the street in NYC in bikinis and whatever each individual felt comfortable with, to bring awareness to skin cancer.Really cool! Each issue has write ups on a certain amount of relevant international and national news for women and other sexes too.they are adding the right amount of consciousness to an otherwise totally fashion magazine which also i have found surprisingly refreshing and fun. Ace Job Marie Claire staff!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars The Magazine Diva Says........
I enjoy Marie Claire but they could "step it up" a bit. Splurge vs. Steal probably sells their magazine for them. Often I notice repeat information, or feature products that appear in 4 other fashion magazines. More originality would be helpful. And it really pissed me off that the fengshui article was such a limited target market. (I'll still read next month's addition. I have to find out the best "steal"!)

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful publication

4-0 out of 5 stars I thought I'd do without it
I thought, eh, Lucky magazine, i don't really need this anymore... so I broke it off. (I am a college student, so, I'm a little bit poor. Lol.)
5-0 out of 5 stars The Magazine Diva says.......
Even if this magazine is a mag-a-log, what would we do without it? September issue rocks with Eva Mendes on the cover and some juicy fall finds inside. The biggest news? Lucky has found a way to shop with your cell while stuck in traffic. It's about time technology got up with our lifestyle!

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love This Magazine!
This magazine single-handedly taught me how to dress with style- and believe me- that's no small feat. I love how Lucky showshow to put pieces together to look fabulous without mindlessly following the crowd. If that's all I had interest in, then I could've simply bought the Lucky shopping guide book. But their reviews of up and coming clothing and jewelry designers, hair, makeup, home decor, and the "How I'm Wired" sections keep me coming back to the magazine.Plus the Lucky Breaks are awesome. My only complaint is the average price of their featured raved-about items. What Lucky is for me is a fantastic template for fashion and style that I can use to find similar items at cheaper prices in stores like H&M, Target, etc. It's so worth the $12/year, and I look anxiously at the beginning of each month for its arrival in my mailbox. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars entertainment industry's primary outlet
Variety is the New York Times of the entertainment world (in the USA). It's expenseive, but if you're seriously into show biz (for a living or otherwise) it's indispensible. You'll get info and reveiews way before anyone else, casting notices for film and TV, huge supplimental issues about each film/media festival, production updates (wondering what your favorite director's next film will be and where it is in the production cycle? I ordered my subscription 3 months ago and still have not received it.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Invisible Magazine
Two months after ordering the magazine I have yet to receive a single issue.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a fan of Forbes, anymore
I subscribed to Forbes magazine for a year or two, and in general the content is good, but I cancelled my subscription for 3 reasons. (A) 33% of the pages are ALL advertisements - what a waste of space, (B) every magazine has 3 or 4 renewal postcards that fall out onto the floor as I read the magazine, and (B) the classifieds in the back are "not of interest" to any real business person. If you don't mind the ads and the fluff, then this magazine might be right for you! It's not for me. I give it 2 stars. ... Read more

I suggested on my site to share the subscription price with a friend. This mag has a few good ideas but no exactly on the pulse of my life.

5-0 out of 5 stars well rounded
I've been reading Glamour for the past three years and it has been a great magazine all around. Glamour covers topics on health, career, finances, sex, relationships, style, etc. Of all the magazines on the newsstands, this one is the most intelligent and savvy for women in their 20s and 30s. Yes there are too many ads like in most magazines, but that's how the media survives, they get their salary mostly from ads. I usually don't mind because I feel that its such a great magazine, that the ads are worth putting up with. I have felt that at times Cosmopolitan is a little too focused on sex and "please your man" articles.
2-0 out of 5 stars Save your money for a different magazine

5-0 out of 5 stars For the weekend warrior, DIY'er and the pros
I've been woodworking for over 20 years, and this magazine inspires me more than magazines geared for woodworking. The articles are clearly written; the pictures are crisp and to the point (show just what's necessary without slipping in paid name-brand product shots.)And the ads seem to be kept to a minimum (sure, they are in there, but not every other page.)
5-0 out of 5 stars Fine Homebuilding is the Best
This magazine is for those who are interested in viewing how people working in the trades do it right. People who are willing to share their wonderful knowledge, projects, and homes. Not cookie cutter homes but homes that inspire its readers to take the higher road. For those who want to be involved in doing something the correct way.
5-0 out of 5 stars This magazine is best in its class!
Admittedly I am a big fan of everything that Taunton press puts out, but I truly think that Fine Homebuilding is a great magazine.Reader be warned though - this magazine is written for professional builders/contractors and serious DIYers. If your building and home renovation skills are any less than the intermediate/advanced level, this will not be the magazine for you. There is not a lot of hand holding here. The authors of these articles often assume that you know more than the basics so that they may cover more high-end techniques.

I am 13 yrs old, and have about (almost) every single issue of this magazine,I started reading this magazine ayear ago,and now a suscriber, my mom says It's a great magazine for me because some of the stuff they talk about in the issues are things I'm dealing with as a preteen. and, I get my back issues on ebay, and the website they have, I just look up the phone number for my mom, and she calls and gets all the back issues they have, because some of them I don't have!Honestly, I used to read american girl in third grade and BOP in 6th grade, and now I'm hooked on DG (discovery girls) beacuse they have awesome stuff, and Yes, I can't be in the magazine as model because I'm Over 12. so what? I still love magazine and don't care If i'm not on the cover, I just enjoy looking at all the back issues and recent issues!! GReat magazine! Deserves 10 stars, but five is all we could give!

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible Service Can't Recommend
I ordered Kiplingers and US News on March 25 and was immediately charged for both subscriptions.Today is October 12th and I've never received US News.I've complained several times and been given a variety of excuses and promised a refund and free subsciption which of course I haven't received. When I requested a refund of course I was given the wrong amount. If you want to order magazines I agree with the last reviewer go to another site because while Amazon is great for books that haven't got the magazine business straight. Also, the customer service phone numbers are wrong and this is a total mess.

1-0 out of 5 stars Who dominos?
I've seen three issues of domino, (all free, thanks to the doctor's office - that's me, the frugal felon), and have found nothing to relate to. The spreads are homes of very wealthy people with extravagant taste and resources. Even so, I've never seen anything remotely appealing in the mag. Definitely not my style.(LOOK, she spelled 'definitely' correctly!)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best new home/gift resource
Great design for home decorators.Great resource for incorporating new ideas, old favorites, and a touch of the different.Resources are clearly identified with prices and ordering information--especially online. It's a new type of home decorating magazine.I love Home and Garden, but Domino is better for resources and ordering.

2-0 out of 5 stars FULL of advertisements for your kids
When you watch commercial children's television, you have to accept the commercials because, after all, the programs are "free". But when you pay to subscribe to Nickelodeon magazine, I don't expect for it so be so full of alluring ads targeting children. These ads appear similar to the editorial content. It seems like 50% of the pages are advertisements!
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Kids Magazine
This is one of my favorite magazines. It tells you about shows and new ones, movies, celebreties, and more! It also has some interviews with actors/actresses. It has fun puzzles and comics. I love the Scene but Not Heard comics. They are hilarious! Overall, I would get this magazine if I were you.

4-0 out of 5 stars this is a great magazine!!!!!!!!!
I like this magazine because it has funny stuff and intresting stuff and also the inside scoop on the latest stuff. Also it has some activities. I've been subscribed for more than a year and i haven't thrown out one issue because i can read the over and over. I don't recommend this for kids under 10 years old.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Poor-Man's PEOPLE magazine
This is not a TV guide. The one in my newspaper (Los Angeles Times) is better, and that's saying A LOT! This new TV Guide is more of a poor relative of People magazine what with it's short articles, gossip, movie news, etc. There isn't even a daytime listing. And, as with the TV guide in the newspaper, I guess there is no TV after midnight, as that's when the grid stops.Ridiculous!I guess we just have to stay up all night and click back and forth to see what's on after midnight, and the duration of each show.No wonder traditional television no longer exists. And because it doesn't, that makes TV Guide not necessary.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst of the Worst
The TV GUIDE was once a valuable weekly periodical for finding out what was playing when and where on our televisions. Everything was listed by date, time and channel. It was that simple. It has now evolved into a nightmare of cross-referencing and incoherence. There are also enormous gaps where programming is not even listed. I believe that television was once labeled to something synonymous to a vast wasteland. The TV GUIDE has now evolved into a vast wasteland unto itself.

5-0 out of 5 stars TV GUIDE IS AWSOME

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Reading
If I had to pick just one women's magazine to subscribe to, "Good Housekeeping" would be the one. It has many of the same articles that all women's magazines have: articles on health, fitness, finance, relationships, diet, beauty, and fashion. But "Good Housekeeping" goes beyond the surface in these articles, for example, their fashion articles don't focus just on high-priced clothing, instead they show outfits that look like their expensive counterparts that readers can buy for just a fraction of the cost. There are also advice columnists on things like household hints, etiquette, and relationships. Each issue also has a short story. There's also the seemingly obligatory celebrity on the cover and interview inside each issue.
4-0 out of 5 stars Just want one and this is it
I have received "ladies'magazines" for many years and keep coming back to GH. I am 57, single, have little reading time for pleasure and little interest in or time for walking through stores to keepup with products, new ideas, etc for women. I don't' even spend much time on the net for this information. I like GH's reputation for quality (GH Seal of Approval and assessment of products), the price (it requires ads to sell the magazine at this low price in today's market; GH passes some on to the customer by keeping the subscription cost low), and the timeliness and the variety of topics interesting women. And I enjoy the tidbits of celebrity information without excessively intimate details of their personal lives that have no impact on the reason I enjoy their performances/talent. It's the only "overall" magazine of this kind that addresses things I want to know about on a consistent basis without becoming the same every month, which is something I don't like about many other periodicals.I also enjoy the ads; otherwise, I would never know of foods, beauty aids, cooking techniques and equipment, fashions, shoes, books, etc.I look forward to getting my GH. When topics greatly interest me, I cut and file them. Also, when I finish with one while flying, I can always find another woman who is happy to take it on their flight.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why buy here?
I'll let others argue whether or not the quality of the magazine has subsided over the years. I, for one, still get something out ofthe writing. Can't do without my monthly dose of Harper's and The Atlantic.
5-0 out of 5 stars Overall, a worthwhile, stimulating and important periodical
The Atlantic is a classic cultural, political and literary voice of America.First published by a team that included legendary icons such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Oliver Wendell Holmes and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, this periodical went on to include articles from great historical figures such as Mark Twain, Woodrow Wilson and Martin Luther King Jr.It may be hard to place current contributors next to those specific individuals who came before them, but they do stand tall with contemparies published in similar venues.
4-0 out of 5 stars A younger eye...
I'm 25 years old and new to The Atlantic [Monthly]. Not having read the publication for some twenty-odd decades like the rest of the reviewers, my opinion is this: The magazine is wonderful. It's infinitely more literate and illuminating than most other periodicals. I'm letting my subscription to TIME run out (talk about an "also-ran"...).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great weekly for the general reader
Science matters. You already know that. You want to stay on top of what's happening in medicine, space research, earth studies, and more. That's because you know things like AIDS, earthquakes, and changing weather patterns all have huge significance to human needs and social policy. But you don't have the time or the specialized knowledge to plow through piles of academic journals every week, hunting the nuggets that mean the most and translating them into the language of normal, educated reader.
5-0 out of 5 stars Science News
I had subscribed to Science News for many years and somehow let it expire when I moved. I missed it greatly and was so glad to start receiving it again. It seems to be the best way to stay current on many fields of science.

5-0 out of 5 stars Science updates in manageable doses
I really enjoy this magazine and have subscribed to it for almost six years now.The fact that it turns up in my mail box every week and provides information on what's new in the scientific literature in small incremental doses that I can read in the limited amount of free time at my disposal is a definite plus.Almost every scientific topic in which I hold an interst is covered at least in the shorter articles, and several have been covered in greater detail in the longer ones.I find the letters to the editor exceptionally useful in that the questions proposed by readers are answered by the authors and clarify issues that may have been confusing to me also.In some instances, the criticisms provided by readers who have some professional knowledge of the topic have actually added to the value of the article. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, educational, book that grows with your child
Our daughter was given a subscription to this magazine at 1 1/2 years old and absolutely loves each issue. The monthly book / magazine is very durable and is the size of a board book which makes them perfect for little hands to hold and also for traveling out and about of your home with. This is also very nice and easy to read for a bedtime story.
5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoying the magazine in France
As Americans living abroad, it's great to find such a good magazine in english that can be delivered to our home--and at such a reasonable price. The first issue came quickly too. The content is really cute and appropriate and there are no ads. A great gift indeed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent first magazine for your toddler!
I got this for my daugther at 18 months due to her love of reading and animals and we have been delighted with the three issues we have received so far. Each issue is about 6x7 inches, 23 color pages on heavy duty cardstock (think thick magazine pages, not board book cardboard). The binding seems to hold up to her many readings and re-readings, though it certainly shows wear like everything else she gets her hands on!
