Though Modern Painters has fallen off a bit, it still is one of the two best art magazines out there
Along with Parkett, Modern Painters remains one of the two 'must read' art magazines of the day. It has undergone two vast transformations over the last five years. Back in around 2001 it turned into a quarterly magazine and for the next four years it produced exceptional content. Just about every article was thoughtful and full of insights. On top of that they had a first rate callaber of gallery reviewers who highlighted the best shows of the quarter.
Beware!
I only recieved 4 out of 6 issues from my subsciption... inquiries to publisher go un-answered... ummm... except for mailings asking me to "renew now!" Gee guys, No Thanks! BEWARE!

Sad Decline
I bought this magazine faithfully every month. Then it changed and was a different product altogether. Poorly printed on dull paper, and unexciting with much less information. It was very disappointing change. An not worth the money it costs. I hardly ever buy it any more. ... Read more

The designs are over the top
I have subscribed for a year and found some of the design are too artistic which is hard to translate for everyday design.

WORST SERVICE/CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
I WAS SUBSCRIBED FOR A YEAR WHICH ENDED LAST MONTH, I ONLY RECEIVED 2 ISSUES, CALLED MANY TIMES TO COMPLAIN AND NO FAVORABLE ANSWER. OTHER MAGAZINES I ORDERED ARRIVED WELL. I WILL SAY WORST SERVICE, WORST CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, WORST SERVICE, AMAZON SHOULDN�T HAVE AS A PRODUCT.

I was also very disappointed to learn that the Spanish version of Reader's Digest does not cover the same articles as the English version. My wife' primary laguage is Spanish and I also was hoping to discuss the articles that we would read in the publication. Can anyone give us the reason for the decision by the company not to have mirror versions in English and Spanish?

Selecciones - why different from Reader's Digest?
When I suscribed to Selecciones I was under the impression that it would cover the same articles as the English version of Reader's Digest.I think Reader's Digest creates a disservice to spanish readers by offering a product that does NOT produce the same well known, widely read product to English language readers.I was very disappointed that the magazines covered different topics --when trying to discuss articles from a Reader's Digest magazine with my mother, who reads only in Spanish, hence only suscribes to Selecciones. Why not offer the same well known product with the same articles that appear in Reader's Digest?Though selecciones is a good magazine, I don't see why the clear separation of topics from one magazine to another. It is misleading to suscribers who are looking to read the Reader's Digest widely distributed product, when they're actually buying an inferior product. ... Read more

Thank you Australia!!
This magazine has given me new fiath in the gay community.Filled with not only images to stimulate your erotic desires for the male form, the articles are extremely well written and very pertenent to today's queer theorist.They address issues such as homophobia in the media to discussing upcoming gay-themed works of art to giving us a glimps into the hisotry of the gay lifestyle, all for the purpose of stimulating the mind and body within one magazine!And of course the pictures are beautiful, but the sense of community it evokes is equally as beautiful.The intellectual artist's response to OUT or INSTINCT magazine, A MUST BUY! Totally worth the money and the wait!

Not Just for Queer Coffee Tables
I picked up a copy of Blue in a Border's store in the Art section of magazines because of the stunning cover black-and-white photography. I didn't realize until I started reading that the content is geared for gay men.The art, both photos and other media, are absolutely top-notch, and the articles, not to be cliche, really are excellent.They focus more on art and it's (male) subjects, rather than cultural topics. There's interviews, history of artists, and cutting-edge art, as well as previews of shows, and of course, articles that talk specifically to gay life.

One of the best...
This is simply one of the best movie magazines on the market. You can always be sure to be updated on the latest movies and dvd releases, and it's nice that the crew of Empire doesn't take themselves too seriously; the articles are well written but keeps the humour intact as well, where other movie magazines seem to be too keen on showing how intellectual they are. Unfortunately it's rather expensive here in Denmark, but it's worth the price.

TOP MOVIE MAGAZINE - HANDS DOWN
No question. If you followed ALL movie magazines, even the sci-fi and fantasy spin-offs, quick VHS magazines (remember those!) then you should also remember about the time BATMAN premiered (what great movie hype!) Empire Magazine ran its first issue and then the great BATMAN #2 issue and we have not stopped collecting since, nearing issue 200 now as I write this, it has been a good one so far and I am sure will keep up the same pace for all new to the greatest `non-digital' monthly pages on the planet, I urge young and old alike to start collecting and reading now.

I am a loyal,long time fan of EMPIRE magazine and have collected almost every issue from No.1. Being a British mag, it differentiates itself from others like Premiere and Entertainment Weekly by it's frank dissection of all movies, and provides a wide range of opinion and discussion. Australian Patchwork & Quilting is the Best
I am an experienced quilter and am familiar with many of the quilting publications currently on the market.In my opinion this is certainly one of the very best.Beautiful quilts for all skill levels and excellent instructions. Creative girl
I LOVE Vogue living from Australia. I don't know what it is about countries outside of the US but their design sense is more pure and absolutely more creative. This magazine rings all the right bells with me and I have never throw a copy away. If you crave style that is different from every other magazine that is sold on the mainland US I would say spring the extra couple bucks for this gem.

Do NOT order this magazine
Don't waste your money! The designs in this magazine are absolutely hideous! I've received 2 issues so far and can't believe they even call this floral design!!

trend setting
I use this magazine to get ideas on trends in floral materials and designs. While the specifics may not be applicable in every market or customer, the over-all themes do come eventually to the conservative Midwest. An example of high-end design and innovative materials. Some are very simple, others very complex. Will definitely generate creative ideas if you are interested in something different.

An eye opener
I was shown this mzagazine by a friend but she wouldn't let me borrow it and I can't blame her because it's great.I now subscribe and wanted to complete my back issues but fusion flowers is so much in demand that all the back issues have sold out.Read more

Brain rot for pre-teens
You can't get yuckier than this girly magazine for pre-teens with the hideous Bratz phenomena now making its mark in the reading market, targeting those girls who just SO love the dolls with the big heads, larger feet and egos so big its not only the heads that have trouble getting through the front door!

Is there such a thing as a non- left wing book-reviewer?
I may be wrong, but whenever I have seen political pieces in the 'London Review' they have tended to the extreme Left. The 'party line' approach makes it difficult to enjoy the other fare.

The Best Literary Journal in the world
The London Review of Books is, without a doubt the best literary journal in the world: at the same time erudite, entertaining and informative, each issue is a foray into a world of knowledge that is all too lacking in other publications and media. There was a time in my life when I couldn't afford to put my heating on in the bitterly cold British winter, but I never thought to cancel my subscription to the LROB. Highly recommended.

The London Review of Books is simply the best generalist journal on topics of literature, the arts, culture, history, politics, philosophy published in the world today--it now beats the NY Review of Books in terms of giving you the full picture and leaves the TLS back in the dust.If you want to get your bearings in the world ofculture and politics, this is must reading.

Definitely ahead of its time
The styles and trends shown in Non-No magazine are always at least 3 years ahead of the American's. I received my first Non-No magazine in June of 2001, and it is only now (in late 2006) that I'm seeing those styles here in the United States. Back in 2001, while we were still wearing regular-rise/high-rise bellbottoms, hip huggers or flare jeans, Non-No was already featuring low-waisted hip huggers, modified skinny jeans (lower-waisted, more flattering fit), and designer brands that were still relatively unknown here (Seven For All Mankind, Juicy Couture). Definitely give this magazine a shot if you want to stay aead of the trends here.

A fun read
I've read Non-No now for several years, and I truly recommend it to anyone wanting to expand their fashion outlook-- it's true, what the previous review said about wacky fashion! However, they eat this stuff up over there! And apparently I do too or else I wouldn't have bought the magazine! My earliest Non-No mag is from may of 1995, and the fashion in that magazine didn't really catch on in America until 1997 or 1998. I promise!
