5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful and unbiased against pit bull breeds!
As an owner of a wonderful loving pit bull dog, I adore this magazine because every issue there are pit bull faces smiling at me. I love the insightful articles, the wonderful vendors. I love this magazine! Thank you for all you do!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of only 2 subscriptions I won't cancel
I like that The Bark ISN'T a monthly magazine. I usually get sick of a magazine after a while. When another one comes, reading it just seems like something to add to my "to-do" list.
5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!
I've received and read one issue of The Bark so far. I am amazed at the great pictures of dogs (posed and in action). It's a fun magazine to relax with and enjoy. The articles are well written, and very interesting.I'm glad that I treated myself to this subscription.Usually, I stick with Dog Fancy, The Whole Dog Journal, Your Dog, and Dog World, as they serve the very necessary topics of wellness, what to do/not do, meeting the breed, and much more. The Bark is intelligent and modern. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest magazines I've read
Dog Fancy is an excellent magazine for all parents of the furry four-legged tail waggin' love bugs out there. It is very informative and I, myself, refer to previous magazines all the time. It's your own personal library full of information that you can use now and even in the future.I've subscribed to Dog Fancy and Dog World.Dog World is for parents who are mainly in dog shows and agility. While Dog Fancy is for the average parent who is not in the sports realm.I love Dog Fancy magazine and I know that parents who love their "kids" as much as I love mine, will enjoy this magazine as much as I do.

4-0 out of 5 stars Plesantly Surprized!
My mom used to subscribe to this magazine when I was growing up. I used to read it often throughout my adolesence. However I always found the magazine to be lacking. (Quality, Information.) Now some 10 years later I decided to try the magazine out once again. Since there has been some recent hype going around about it. I got this months newsstand -- April -- issue and the Special Puppy issue. I am in Love! It seems the Dog Fancy has improved by leaps and bounds since my last read. Now it contains an enormous ammount of extremely helpful information as well as stories and such to entertain you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Full of good information
I have read Dog Fancy for a year now and I find it to be full of useful information for people that have a dog or thinking about getting a dog. The only problem that I have with it is, that sometimes a whole issue may be designed around a topic that you are not interested in, so the whole issue is of no use to you. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Owning and Caring for Horses
Horse Illustrated is a monthly magazine designed to appeal mostly to horse owners and to those who have an avid interest in horseback riding, horse care and maintenance, and other related subjects. This publication covers a wide range of topics like care for horses, selecting a breed, finding the best boarding, horse health care, and more. The magazine offers a large number of topics each month that cover the essentials of equine care and most of these are pretty good in covering the basics necessities to keep horses looking and feeling their best. These articles, while not always very in- depth, are generally good and they make the magazine worth reading for the horse owner.
3-0 out of 5 stars Okay magazine
I read some of the other reviews and was very intruiged. Yes, the photography is wonderful. But... if you are an amateur horseback rider, getting Horse Illustrated's book, Caring for Your Horse, or English Riding, or Buying a Horse, etc. would be a lot smarter than ordering this magazine. In a year's subscription, I found two really helpful articles. Some would start out great... and then just meander around and not give much info. There is also a lot more about horse care in here, and not much about riding/training. You could get a book for the price of this magazine and learn tons more.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine for Horse Owners
Horse Illustrated is the largest equine publication in America and it serves a great audience--the novice horse owner. It is both entertaining and informative. And it is written for an adult audience, not for "younger riders" as some are saying. It's sister publication, "Young Rider" IS. To the person who wrote in about not having any depth: well, Equus on average has only four features per issue! And you know what one of them was this month? An indepth article on photographs of kids on ponies! Like that's useful? And Horse Journal is boring--unless you want to read pedantic article after article on 87 saddle pads or 55 liniments.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cat Fancy is more ad and breeders than real info
I found Cat Fancy Magazine to be mostly advertisements and breeders advertisements than real meat of information for cat owners.I'm also very unimpressed with their Cat Channel online board they advertise in Cat Fancy and cannot recommend it to others. They seem to have poor management of their online board especially on weekends so inappropriate posts stay there for a long time and a professional magazine advertising their own online board in their magazine should have their online board perfected before offering it.Also Cat Fancy pushes a ridiculous high renewal rate for their magazine, but if you go onto Amazon, you can get a renewal rate of almost half the Cat Fancy renewal price. So I have come to the conclusion that between the Cat Fancy magazine, their poor online Cat Channel board and the high renewal rate Cat Fancy charges, they are not interested in keeping their readers or online members.

5-0 out of 5 stars Subscription for Cat Fancy Magazine
Reminded me that the subscription was up for renewal, I renewed it, and that was it.

5-0 out of 5 stars What every woman wants to know?
How pay for it, as I got "Cat Fancy" subscription for the whole month and I bought it as a gift for my friend, 26 year old Nick Dillie. The main reason I bought her this magazine for her 26th birthday this April. She loves cats and she doesn't like dogs because she needs a cat guard instead of dog guard. She needed a cat guard and I bought her this magazine. There are fresh articles about cats and about their cousins- the big cats, such as tiger, lion, cheetah, exotic cats, leopard, ocelots, bobcats, black panters and many more. Cool! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love your dog!Get this magazine!
I have subscribed for years to this - in my opinion, the hand's-down best, most balanced and useful periodical on dog care and behavior available.Practical, solidly researched, non-preachy and impeccably edited, it provides even-handed coverage of almost everything that contributes to a dog's happiness, well-being and ability to be a good companion. The annual dog-food ratings alone are worth the subscription price.Every constituency should be as well-served by a publication as dog lovers are by this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars interesting and full of info.
I received my first magazine, it isn't glossy or flashy, but is full of in-depth info, which is exactly what I wanted. Not very thick for the money, but I'm still satisfied due to the quality of the content.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest resources I know for dog info.
This newsletter is a great resource for dog people. The articles are well researched, detailed, and best of all, applicable.I keep them in a binder, and often refer back to earlier issues if I have a health or training concern about my dogs (and have been known to share them with friends.)Both the positive training and the holisitic health information is great.I definitely recommend this newsletter to anyone who loves their dogs. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Western Magazine!
This is an awesome horse magazine. It's especially helpful for training. I gave it five stars because I think it's great... but It's best for those 1, really into showing, 2, really into Quarter Horses and Paints, and 3, those really into Western. They did have a very helpful and good 'Western Dressage' series by Lynn Palm. It also can be really into showing. So, if you prefer a little English/Western and prefer to just casually trail ride with your Tennessee Walker, this may not be the magazine for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of the west
I subscribe to a LOT of different horse magazines and this one is by far my favorite.Great how-to articles.I also love the profiles they occasionally do on prominent stallions. For the western rider, especially those with an interest in showing, this is the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Horses Love Riders Who Read Horse & Rider!

5-0 out of 5 stars Catnip gets 4 Paws Up
As a former Cat Fancy reader, I find Catnip to be far superior to Cat Fancy Magazine as it contains more in depth information on cat issues as it is coming from the Tufts University veterinary section. Also, it does not contain all the advertisments and breeder advertisements that I found myself paying for in the Cat Fancy Magazine. So what you are paying for in Catnip is more thorough and factual information on cats without all the advertisements. It's a great publication and I highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Differences compared to CATWATCH
Catnip magazine is a good newsletter-type magazine for the general cat-owner.It is a step up from something like "Cat Fancy", in that it has items that relate more to the common cat owner. It has articles on different aspects of cats, such as behaviors, general care-taking, and medical issues. It is written in a very easy-to-understand language. If you are looking for something to help you learn more about cats, and are not in the veterinary field, then this is a good newsletter/magazine to get.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Consumers' Report for cats
I have taken both Catnip and CatWatch for several years, and enjoy both -- what could be more reassuring authority than two prestigious veterinary schools? Both are helpful, interesting and factual, and carry no advertising. But Catnip is my preference [there is considerable overlap of content with the two magazines] for its panel of cats who test a variety of cat products. At any given time, you are unlikely to have the problems featured in that month's issue, but we cat people are always buying things for our little friends, so it's nice to know what they really like. ... I love this magazine. It has very informative articles. There are also cute pictures and each month they have a focus on a different breed of bird. This magazine is a must for any bird owner.

2-0 out of 5 stars Geared for kids
My biggest problem with the publication is that it is overly focused on kids.Letters often include 10 year olds proclaiming their 5+ year fish keeping careers asking questions that are stricly beginner fodder.Aside from the occasional article on a newly identified species, the rest is info you can just get on line.Let me save you some money....In a year the magazine largely covered the following:make sure you know about the fish you are buying before you buy them, make sure you have the right parameters in the tank, and make sure you have compatible tankmates.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not just another magazine....
My husband was still teetering on the edge as to whether or not to 'dive' into creating a saltwater aquarium - this magazine re-energized his interest and we purchased one the following weekend.Informative articles. Wonderful pictures. He will be looking forward to it each month!

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst magazine
There is no doubt that this is the worst aquarium magazine.

I have found "Your Dog" very interesting and informative.I am glad I subscribed and plan to resubscribe. This is a no advertising (which is very refreshing) scientifically-based mag which is very helpful for dog lovers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Dog Resource
This journal is a great resource for readers who are serious about their dogs. Articles are usually scientifically-researched and include health, training, and behavior issues. There are occasional reviews of dog-friendly products as well. This journal is well worth the money. Those who prefer holistic medicine may want to balance this subscription with a subscription to "Whole Dog Journal."

5-0 out of 5 stars Modern Dog magazine
My new favourite magazine! Beautiful photos, smart and entertaining articles, fashion, art, exclusive celebrity interviews... all with a dog focus! Cover models range from Paris Hilton and Tinkerbell to Virginia Madsen and her dogs. Thanks to Modern Dog I now know how to throw a dog-friendly cocktail party (complete with hors d'oeuvres for both two- and four-legged guests) AND actually get my dog to come when she's called. Definitely worth checking out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Modern Dog ROCKS!
I picked up my first copy of Modern Dog recently and I LOVE it! The style, the photos, even the ads are all exceptional. I have never bought a dog magazine before because, in my opinion, they have not been very appealing to me. BUt Modern Dog has that edge to it - very cool and very well written. Thank "DOG" somebody finally published something that is just perfect for me and my dog. I highly recommend that you check out this magazine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine for Dog-Loving Children
We just got our first issue of Dogs for Kids last week and I love it!I got it for my 11 1/2 year old son, who loves dogs and has said he wants to be a vet since the age of two.We have four dogs of our own.The articles are very interesting and cover everything from information on different breeds to how to train them and coping after the loss of a beloved pet.I was especially touched by the tips on how to deal with such a loss. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the ads for pure bred dogs in the back, as well as the so-called "designer Labradoodles".There are enough dogs in shelters that need to be rescued and placed in forever-homes.This is a magazine I think I will enjoy reading as much as my children!

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible service
I bought "dougs for kids" for my niece, but by buying it through the feature "one click", it went into my address without being able to change it to my niece's. I tried to correct it by emailing Amazon (you cannot contact them by phone, which is terrible). I received an answer saying that I had to wait until I got the confirmation from the vendor (apparently not Amazon - anaother terrible aspect). I never received such email. The other day I got the magazine in the mail.... and called their publisher.... didn't have the sales data, so had to call somebody else. Finally, after speaking to three people, a nice lady took my case and say she would investigate.
4-0 out of 5 stars Fun but can be better

4-0 out of 5 stars A better marine aquarium magazine doesn't exist.....literally
While originally and currently published in Germany as Koralle magazine, Coral the English version, stands as the only magazine exclusive to the marine aquarium hobby currently being offered here in the U.S. With that said Coral is a great magazine that I would encourage novice, advanced, and expert marine hobbyist alike in enjoying and securing as the exclusive premiere marine aquarium magazine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool cat magazine for my friend Amanda
How can you buy " I love Cats" as I had made a subscription for the whole month and I bought it for my 25 year old friend Amanda Seth and she loves it. I know she is an animal lover and I watched her on Animal Planet" RSPCA: Have you got what it takes?. 3-0 out of 5 stars Okay Info
This magazine has some good trainting and horse care tips, but I think it is overpriced. Also, the title is pretty lame. I mean, c'mon, trust me I know, there is NO such thing as a perfect horse.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good Base to Build
John Lyon's has taken what good horsetrainers have done for years and put into an easily read and digested format. His methods of horse management and training reflect the current trends in this field. The magazine is thin, but full of information.I personally like the fact the magazine comes pre-punched for insertion into a three-ring binder. This allows you to have your collection with you at the barn or at an event.Lyon's articles provide information for the novice to the expert. The writing style is crisp and concise.Overall I recommend this for all horseowners whether they are seeking to train their own horse or not.The management techniques and tips are essential to help keep and maintain horses of all levels and disciplines. This is not really a magazine for a non-horse owner. The tips and techniques need to be applied to be effective.A horse lover who does not own a horse may not fully appreciate or understand some of Lyon's nuances.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good investment for the horse owner
I really like John Lyon's training methods and I've read several of his books in his "Perfect Horse" series and "Lyons on Horses".I prefer the series of books rather than the publication just because you're basically getting the same information but in a more organized lesson form.I like the idea of the ad-free format and I'm willing to pay more for a skinny, add-free magazine, but Lyons tends to push his own training products and books quite aggressively, along with products from companies that he has endorsement deals with.He also likes to throw in biblical quotes.Read more
