Great Reference Material
Communication Arts is great. It provides ideas, insight, and shows what's going on in the media world as we know it.

The only magazine that I keep back copies of!
As a professional graphic designer and illustrator, I read a lot of the trade magazines, but Communication Arts is the only one I keep back copies of. I have had a subscription to this magazine since my art school days and I still look forward to receiving it in the mail. The magazine is beautifully designed with clean type and the feature articles are always interesting. It is well worth the cost of subscription. Just get it! You won't be sorry. ... Read more

Pretty but not much else...
I give Dragon 2 stars because it's pretty.The pages are glossy and the artwork is topnotch.I wanted to like the newest incarnation of an old favorite so much...but I don't.I'm judging it based on the Dragon I grew up with which was loaded with information and reviews of many,many different games.The majority of it was about Dungeons and Dragons, but there was still plenty of information on other games including ones not published by TSR. (for example,I distinctly remeber being introduced to the concept of a LARP via Dragon magazine) The letters column was always a high point and their was more than enough material to keep you reading for a couple of days.The new magazine, while pretty, doesn't have anywhere near as much material (I really wonder if a strip like Snarfquest would even get published in the new mag).There might be a few hours reading enjoyment in it but don't count on it.Also, what at one time was THE premier gaming magazine is now nothing more than a WOTC/Hasbro corporate magazine.If you're looking for information about anything other than Dungeons and Dragons forget it.However, if that's all you want, then it's probably an excellent buy and it is very pretty.

Long time RPGer
I've been reading dragon for over 20 years now, I liked it back then and I like it even more now. The staff seem really excited about the magazine and their openness to customer feedback seems to be at an all time high.They know they can't please everyone all the time so they try to please the most people they can.If that means 1% of the people that want them aren't going to get articles on Gamma World or Top Secret well that's too bad.

Interesting Patterns, Excellent Tutorials
I've now read 4 issues of this magazine and found several projects in each one.For beginners, the tutorials about the special techniques used in each project are especially helpful, and they make a quick review for more-experienced knitters.The 'learn to knit' section in the back of each issue is nearly as comprehensive as many standalone knitting-basics booklets.The projects in each issue's theme are generally diverse, with some patterns being attractive to more traditional or experienced knitters and others appealing to newer or more trend-conscious knitters.

Go ahead and order-you deserve it!
What a refreshing change to the hum drum knitting magazine. Yes it's a little expensive compared to American magazines, but it's similar to the difference between watching an American movie and a British film. Buy yourself a single copy, sit back with a cup of tea (with milk in it of course!) and enjoy! You'll want the subscription. See what I mean ? ... Read more

Worth the money and the wait
Cote Sud is a compilation of the loveliest magazine pages you'll ever see.It covers southern French houses, gardens, hotels, restaurants and decorating, as well as beautiful travel articles of places outside France.It is so beautifully photographed that I find myself going back over and over the issues for continuing inspiration.Because it is shipped from France it takes awhile to arrive but it is always delightful and well worth the wait.

Wizard Magazine
This magazine would get five stars except for the fact that it does not get shipped out on time and the customer service department for Wizard Universe does not answer your questions in a timely manner.The magazine has good articles to read and a descent price guild; however there are not that many books that they price.Many books that come out do not see the light of day in Wizard unless the Wizard staff thinks they are hot books.

Greatest magazine about comic books
There are so many great comicbooks being published nowadays, but unfortunately I don't get the chance to read as many of them as I would like.Wizard is a great magazine that keeps me in the loop on what's happening in the stories of all the mainstream comics, what's going on in the industry, what's coming up, and so much more.And it does it all in a fun, creative way.Yes, it could probably cover the independent comicbook scene a little better, but at the same time there are other publications that do that, and Wizard is a mainstream magazine so it makes sense that it focuses on DC and Marvel.I'm not complaining.

A window into popular culture
My son, now 20, has been a Wizard reader since the age of 12 or so.From Wizard, he gets the most up-to-date news about many of the items of greatest interest to him as an artist and aficionado of popular culture.He enjoys learning about the art of comics, and often shares bits of information he has learned from Wizard.PC Gamer is the only magazine he subscribes to besides Wizard - he gets the rest of his news and information online. ... clearly written and substantive
Having given a look at all the American magazines on the market which, over time, rehash the same things over and over in a dumbed down way, I was given a copy of Practical PHotography.It blows the competition out of the water for substance and style.

Good techical and gear overview
Good magazine if you like to do equipment comparisons and film comparisons.As well there is photo tips that are practical and intresting. Use to be the best, now it's at the bottom.
Throughout the 90's, this was THE best photography magazine on the planet.I probably have every issue from the 90's and for many years had a subscription.I practically learned photography through this mag.However, since the calendar turned to the 2000's, this magazine has slipped considerably, almost off the face of the photographic scene.I dropped my subscription, and now I am lucky if I buy one issue a year if something I see in it catches my eye at the newstand.Read more

Interesting cover to cover.
What I like about this magazine is that the articles are unique and informative.I have bought the last three issues and can't wait for the next one. This magazine covers equipment in a current mode rather than a 6 months to a year behind style so familiar with many of the other photography magazines.
Wannabe Pro Photo Magazine
I purchaced this magazine thinking that it would be the next step from the amateur photo magazine level to the serious pro level.In fact, it is not really either.

One of the better digital photography magazines
Even though there seem to be hundreds of different digital photography magazines on the newsstand every month, Digital Photo Pro is pretty much the only one that I buy.I don't buy every issue, but seeing as I end up buying about 80% of the issues, I should probably get a subscription!

Best design/lifestyle magazine ever!
Reading this magazine is like opening a fascinating jewel box. Full of incredible layouts of unique homes, accompanied by inspiring DIY pages. Much more unique and witty than the other decor mags out there. One could pore over the photos for hours, marveling at the tiny "why didn't I think of that?" details.

best general photo trade mag out there
Photo District News is the best general photography trade magazine currently being published. I like how they feature the work of up and coming photographers as well as interviewing key players in the advertising and design communities. It gives a wide view of the industry, outside of the usual technical reviews of equipment, which I find refreshing. The staff hasn't changed much over the years so I do wonder how fresh of a perspective the Sr. Staff has of the industry - but they have added some new columns to the magazine recently which gives me hope that the editorial team is not getting stale. Save your money
The magazine is great, but the 1 year subscription I purchased for my son's birthday turned out to be just 4 issues. Problem never got resolved. It's a total disappointment as far as customer service. Better off buying at thebookstore.

Good Magazine, But Sucky Service!
I love reading this magazine... that is, whenever it decides to arrive in my mailbox. The mailing system of this company sucks much. I had inquired missing issues before (two months were missing), got an letter of apology, and a free copy of the missing issues. But, alas, it has happened again. And this time, I don't feel like sending out three emails again, asking where my magazines are. Buyer beware!

Idea Candy for Experienced and Inexperienced Designers
This magazine is often said to be intended for graphic design newbies. While it is true that if you are inexperienced to graphic design principles and software, this is the magazine for you --it is also true that pros can get a lot of useful ideas from Dynamic Graphics.As an experienced designer, it sometimes helps me to re-visit basic techniques, color use, schemes and read reviews of new design software just hitting the market (they aren't ALL good). Even graphics pros get 'design blocked' from time-to-time.
