4-0 out of 5 stars Very current, in-depth reporting and high writing standards make this my favorite IT periodical.
As a long-time IT professional, I've read InfoWorld, Information Weekly, SysAdmin, Dr Dobbs, etc. etc.In 2006, the only one I read with any regularity is Computerworld. It is relevant, smart, and covers an almost impossible range of topics in a very broad IT world.
4-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive coverage of the IT industry
With its weekly distribution, there is almost too much information.Articles are balanced and cover a wide range of topics.Quickly responds with articles about new concepts and ideas. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best for Linux
This is the absolute best Linux mag out there, and can be read by new users and professionals both.Linux is a powerful and versatile OS and this magazine highlights its applications, inner workings, and any other information the average Linux user would want.Overall, a well written periodical with valuable information in every issue.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
I have been a Linux Journal subscriber since 1996. I look forward to its arrival in my snail mail box every month. It contains articles for varing levels of understanding, and is very informative. Some just right for me, and some of it is over my head. It introduces programs that I didn't know existed, new products, and instructions on how to do things. Don't listen to those who say that this is a lousy publication. The Linux Journal is after all an engineering style journal. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

4-0 out of 5 stars Serious MS developers need this
People building serious MS apps, the kind where you have to figure out just what "volatile" really means, must subscribe. This is the map to the world they live in. There are lots of ads, covering just about every add-in, add-on, API, component, and service you can imagine, plus some. Do you need to know the difference between clusters, multiprocessor board, multicore, hardware multithreading, and application multithreading? You need this. UI, I18N, .NET, COM compatibility - sooner or later, it's all here.
5-0 out of 5 stars Required Reading for any MS Developer
Great magazine. Covers the full range of .NET technologies. Every issue is packed with windows, web, and xml development articles plus industry news and a lot more. High recomended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Microsoft's MSDN

5-0 out of 5 stars An incredible resource --
-- but I'm not quite sure who it's for. It's just so cool, though, that probably doesn't matter. This month's issue has projects that use FPGAs, that generate RF test signals, that do encryption on PIC processors, and, well, lots of other stuff. It's all at that place where analog circuitry, digital design, and software become interchangeable, like that software tone detector people would have implemented as an analog filter back when.
5-0 out of 5 stars Straddles the line between "hobbyist" and "professional"
Circuit Cellar occupies a unique place in the world of electronics literature. Its scope (embedded systems) is a little too limited and the articles a little too advanced and discipline-specific to serve most of the dwindling hobby community. On the other hand, the magazine carries an enthusiasm and a sense of fun that's rarely seen in professional magazines.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent information about embedded systems
I've been reading this magazine off and on since Electronics Now and Popular Electronics went down hill, and have been pleasantly suprised by the depth and quality of information provided. Design and implementation of topical projects are laid out and explained clearly along with the underlying theory. Don Lancaster always has an interesting spin on new products and ideas. If you're looking for insights into embedded systems development, look no further. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Use the savings for back issues...
I've been reading 2600 the magazine since at least 1994, probably earlier.I don't know why I never purchased a subscription, but it probably had to do with the thrill of finding it in the various places bookstores tried to hide it, and the instant connection with that one like minded employee who knew exactly where it was buried. The point here is that 2600 provides an alternative view, one that I share...I love computers, and the freedom to explore my world. The editors and staff of 2600 have taken up the standard to defend freedom of speech, fair use, and open source technology. Support them, write a letter, submit a hack and don't concern yourself with the pricing on Amazon, you're found a like minded reviewer and we both know better.

4-0 out of 5 stars 5 for the zine 0 for the price
You get 4 issues in a yearlong subscription at over TWICE the price the manufactorer offers it? I'm sorry this is an AWESOME magazine, don't get me wrong. It's just overpriced here. Maybe they fear the word hacker, but that shouldn't be a reason to MARK UP and item 200%. You don't believe the reviews? Zoom in the the picture amazon has, and on the top right corner, it says clear as day $5.50. So what are you hiding from amazon, that you place an item for twice the prie it should be?

4-0 out of 5 stars Good reading material for spare time.
First off: before purchasing a subscription to 2600 through Amazon, make sure you're getting close to the same price that the source offers it (4issues/year@$20USD) by checking at: http://store.2600.com/subscriptions.htmlRead more

3-0 out of 5 stars Poor customer service, very average quality of content
JDJ has become a monopoly of sorts and is enjoying the ride.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
One of the few excellent Java magazines widely available. Recommended for all levels, but like with other magazines, the more advanced levels do not get as much coverage. If there is only one Java magazine to get, this one is probably it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cutting- Edge Technology
Business- oriented in nature, InfoWorld is magazine intended for those who work in the technology field. The majority of people who read this magazine are presidents, management, vice- presidents, etc. of technology- oriented companies and it is common to see copies of this magazine in the waiting areas of such businesses.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very good (no longer great) overview of corporate tech.
With the dotcome implosion and incredible telco downsizing, the money and eyeballs for corporate tech has shrunk considerably, and this is directly reflected in the size and breadth of this venerable weekly.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Technology and its Impact on Business
Information Week is a magazine designed for business people of all ages and stripes and its one of the few magazines I read that offers articles that are broad based in appeal. Most business magazines are aimed at specific people in an organization, like executives, office employees, or some other group. But Information Week has articles that can pertain to anyone across a wide range of businesses.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent trade publication
I like that Information week pulls together information with both a techinical and business side.Articles range from important software developments, best business practices, employment trends, and so much more. This is a magazine you can quickly and easily pick up information that you want. 1-0 out of 5 stars Waaaaaaayyyy Overpriced
Are these publishers serious? There seems to be nothing in the three different 16-page(!) "issues" I have that is not covered FOR FREE in some form on the internet. Sure, the ad-free "magazines" aren't filled with tons of space-filling advertising, but 16 pages?
2-0 out of 5 stars High Price, Small Content
There's not much to this magazine. You'd be better off getting a membership to the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (which comes with a subscription to Photoshop User magazine), and order a subsciption to Layers magazine. You can get both for LESS than a subscription to this thin magazine.

2-0 out of 5 stars $140 for 12 pages?!!
