5-0 out of 5 stars an unvarnished classic
FOREIGN AFFAIRS makes no apology for its antiquated typescript, large print, and generally stodgy appearance. It hardly needs to.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Journalism in Print Neutrally Covering All Aspects of Foreign Relations
I've been reading Foreign Affairs since 1980 and have always admired the well rounded scope covering everything from Social & Cultural issues, Media/Public Opinion, International law, Human rights, Economics, Trade & Finance, Science & Technology, Intelligence, Energy, resources & environment, International organizations, and the list goes on.
4-0 out of 5 stars Establishment Foreign Policy journal
This magazine is written by many of the most influential people in the realm of foreign policy. If one wishes to know what the Establishment thinks on foreign policy issues this is the magazine to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars On Par With The Economist and Better Than Foreign Affairs Journal!
I'm happy that I ordered a subscription to this magazine as it not only matches, but surpasses the content provided in the Foreign Affairs Journal. The student discount rate I received (at the official foreign policy website) has the most reasonable price. Each new issue of FP contains a barrage of perspectives on numerous topics that are very relevant today. Photos, graphs, and charts also help to breathe life into each article and helped me to better grasp the content presented.
5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting
Very interesting and enjoyable to read. As a student of political science and international relations, this is a great way to keep updated about the current issues and problems in the international arena. It is not dry or boring.

3-0 out of 5 stars Still a worthwhile investment, in spite of decline
Foreign Policy magazine is not what it once was. Authoritative, well argumented and thought out articles are incrasingly giving way to collections of "Did you knows", short pieces which try to include more wit than substance, and statistics for readers to gawk at, rather than to give context and meaning. FP is trying to be more like Time or Newsweek and is not getting any better for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars News Journal
Frosty Troy's Oklahoma Observer journal is a collection of timely comments, letters and articles regarding the frontier politics of Oklahoma. No where else can one find the pioneer wit, humor, bluntness and compassion of an Oklahoman viewpoint on political happenings like in the Observer! It's fresh air in an otherwise journalistic vacuum.Try it!You'll like it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Progressive News for Democrats

5-0 out of 5 stars Vibrant Examination of International Issues
An avid consumer of foreign policy publications, the Brown Journal of World Affairs stands out amongst its peers as the preeminent journal on world affairs. It brings together a variety of writers to engage in intellectual discussions of breadth and vibrancy that transcend the scope of mainstream media. It manages to provide insights into issues that further the pursuit of sophisticated research while being accessible to most readers. The Journal has consistently chosen topics that are often neglected and illuminates them to world acknowledgement. The current issue on the European Union Foreign and Security Policy taps into a debate that is at the forefront of IR scholarship, while the section on Iran covers an often overlooked key player in the Middle East. With these dynamic section topics I can only applaud the Journal and wish it success in the future. 3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but limited
This is a good magazine for progressives and liberal-minded folks. The magazine uses the same authors and writers for each issue. This is both good and bad. Good because you get to know the writing style, ideas and thoughts from these writers; they become kind of like friends after a while. Bad because you get the same views all the time; there's no diversity and it feels a bit in-bred.
5-0 out of 5 stars I will renew my Subscription for the rest of my life
This magazine is published every month. For me it's a big event. I can't wait to finger though the pages, look at the articles, and read the columns from my favorite writers like Molly Ivans. If you are a conservative this magazine is not for you but if you are a moderate, or some where on the left you will love this magazine! Senator Robert Lafollette R-WI originally founded it. He ran for president in 1924 under the Progressive party (which has since died out). He received 4,826,471 popular votes and 13 electoral votes. It was one of the first publications ever to publish the writings ofMartian Luther King and has since been a strong voice against the war in Iraq. This magazine should be cherished for being well progressive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank You, Matthew Rothschild
Taking the reins from Erwin Knoll (R.I.P.), Mr. Rothschild has very ably continued the great work of progressive / left commentary and articles. A terrific publication. Check out www.progressive.org for timely updates on national goings-on. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The right view plus Hornik
I have just read an interview on 'The American Spectator 'in which the journalist Charley Levine interviews Jonathan Pollard. Polland explains the unusual harshness of his jail sentence, and its injustice.
1-0 out of 5 stars A right-wing mag you won't like even if you're right-wing
Our library has just finished its magazine usage count, and to my surprise the American Spectator came dribbling in with only a couple of hits, measured by current copies left on the table and check outs of older issues. And yet our patronage here is very conservative. Perhaps people who once read this sort of thing no longer read at all, or maybe, as a couple of reviewers suggested, with Bill Clinton out of office, it no longer has the same appeal.
3-0 out of 5 stars For the Social Conservative
I used to subscribe to TAS, back in the 1980s and 90s when it was a lively Journal that had a good deal of exciting writing and reporting. Granted it was, and continues to be, much more socalially conservative than I ever was, but I do try to read a wide spectrum of publications; I'm not one who reads just to reinforce my own prejudices. And there was plenty I did like- P.J. O'Rourke on Washington, DC; the annual Christmas book recommendations; and Ben Stein's whiny, self-pitying column from Hollywood. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A weekly blast from Britain
This is the best read for knowing what people in Britain are thinking and arguing about this week, or half of them, anyway. It is shamefully and unashamedly politically incorrect. I must say I start at the back of the book, with the country's most preposterous agony aunt and well written, even touching columns on low life, City life, the turf etc. The book and arts reviews are superb. As for the political coverage, well, if that's what the Conservative British think, what am I suppose to do about it, huh? An excellent complement to Pravda and the Washington Post. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Conservative Journal Currently
During last year's election year, I subscribed to three conservative journals (National Review, The Weekly Standard, and The American Conservative). The best part about the three was how different they were from each other.TWS in my opinion, was the magazine for the neo-conservatives (a crowd I am not a member of).NR champions the current Republican platform yet is backed up with some excellent writers.TAC, on the other hand offers traditional conservatism. Not exactly for everyone (The only person to endorse Bush in 2004 from the magazine was it's co-founder, Pat Buchanan, who is one of his harsher critics on the right). What makes it so great is that the articles offer conservative critique that may win over more liberals than conservatives at the end of the day.I myself, am not always in agreement with the articles I read. The columns from Pat Buchanan and Taki are worth reading by those on either side of the political spectrum.I recomend this one over NR and TWS but those who like a variety of conservative opinion should explore all three.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Real Face of America's Conservative Movement
If you are emabarrassed by the low level intellects, the loud mouthed chicken hawks, and the globalist sell-outs who claim to speak for conservative America, you will find comfort twice a month in this fine magazine. There are no dumbed down articles, no childish insults and no old-left idealogy repackaged to look like conservative thought.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fine Paleo-Conservative Bi-Weekly
Up until recently, I was highly ambivalent about this magazine.Although I consider myself a paleo-conservative, it has published a number of articles (in less recent issues, particularly), well, that have rubbed me the wrong way. However, recently - in a single issue, in fact - it published three of the best articles, book reviews, and reminiscences that I've read in at least the last year.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Lively and Highly Readable Magazine
