5-0 out of 5 stars Do you like learning?
I've actually met people who have said, "I'm too old to learn new things." And younger folk who have said, "That's too much like being in class." If you're one of these people, don't bother with Mental Floss magazine, or with going to school any more, or for that matter, with continuing to be alive in the first place. Living is learning, and this magazine helps edify and entertain you while you're doing all that living and learning. Most highly recommended.
    5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful,silly trivia!
This is truly one of my favorite magazines! It's been a favorite gift for friends and I know that it is being passed to others so each issue gets multiple readings.Of course, my issues are safely in my home library since some things are too good to share.

5-0 out of 5 stars an unvarnished classic
FOREIGN AFFAIRS makes no apology for its antiquated typescript, large print, and generally stodgy appearance. It hardly needs to.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Journalism in Print Neutrally Covering All Aspects of Foreign Relations
I've been reading Foreign Affairs since 1980 and have always admired the well rounded scope covering everything from Social & Cultural issues, Media/Public Opinion, International law, Human rights, Economics, Trade & Finance, Science & Technology, Intelligence, Energy, resources & environment, International organizations, and the list goes on.
4-0 out of 5 stars Establishment Foreign Policy journal
This magazine is written by many of the most influential people in the realm of foreign policy. If one wishes to know what the Establishment thinks on foreign policy issues this is the magazine to read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Anatol Lieven review
Lieven's article, "In the Mirror of Europe: The Perils of American Nationalism";is succinct, cogent, and in my opinion frighteningly accurate. My experience as a professor convinces me that we are in the midst of a nationalistic arrogance, whipped by endlessly reptetiive mantras including 9/11, war on terrorism and god, which the majority of my students now accept as truth. I have one suggestion, I think Mr. Lieven is overly optimistic when he comments that the neoconservative empire-builders are not yet the majority in positions of power. I feel their reach inlcudes the legislative and executive branch, much of the leadership of coporate America, an increasing number of Jewish and Christian denominations, much of the media-particularly AM talk radio, higher education, the military, and with another four years of the current administration, federal courts at all levels. I will bring up this article in many of my discussion groups. I think the article was well-written and important, my congratulations to the author. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine, very poor price!
You can order Bell' Italia directly from the publisher for $34.95 for a two year subscription (12 issues).

1-0 out of 5 stars Italian version not english
I ordered a subscription in jan and just received my first issue in may after several calls. Unfortunately, it is in Italian which is not mentioned in the details on amazon. they offeredto refund the remaining subscription but the first issue cost me $25. Unless you can read italian and are very patient, I would pass on this periodical.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice if it would come...
Picked up Bell'Italia in a bookstore. Loved the magazine, couldn't wait to subscribe, and I signed up for two years...It's almost two months later, and I still haven't received my first issue. So, negative-two stars for being late, but otherwise, it's a comprehensive, beautifully-put together mag. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Walks the edge between popular and learnt
In my opinion, this is the best Geographical magazine around. The images are as good as they come, the articles are amazing. The style is popular enough so that everyone can read them, and they have enough information so that everyone will learn something from them. Every issue has some biographical articles, some on recent expeditions, some on nature, some historical, and plenty of book reviews. In short, this magazine gives you a little bit of everything. What I really like about it is that it does not shy away from contorversial or serious issues. Here we can read about unkown genocides, natural disasters, or climate change. Geographical does dare to take sides in political issues. It is not for someone that is only out for a leisurely read. It is for us who want a leisurly way to keep informed! ... Read more

This magazine has it all!Detailed descriptions of what actually happened.Great biographies and tales from the lives of historical figures such as Pancho Villa, Billy the Kid, Doc Holliday, Geronimo and lots more!Learn about the daily lives of people in the Old West and explore interesting locations!Even the ads are great to read through such as a man who makes handles for golf clubs out of something that you truly would not expect proving that you truly can use every part of the beasts!

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MAGAZINE!!!
This is the greatest magazine I've ever seen. I love the stories. The pictures are wonderful. You'll never see another magazine like this one. I did my Christmas shopping out of it last year and I loved what their advertisers had to offer. Can't wait to see the next issue.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME magazine
I subscribed to this magazine for my son three years ago... when he was in the third grade. It is packed full of great information about the particular topic it covers. Each issue is devoted to one particular topic, and we (yes "we") look forward to each and every issue. It is easy to read, but also quite comprehensive. It is a great jumping off point for studying more into a particular topic in history, or as a reference. If you subscribe, make room on your shelves... because you will NOT throw these away. You will want to keep them forever! ... I ordered a gift subscription for my mom in November 2005.German Life received full payment for the subscription at that time.It is now April 26, 2006 and still not one magazine!I have emailed them several times from their website and have never received a reply.I called in March and was told the label had been printed and my mom should receive her first magazine soon.Still no magazine.

This magazine has beautiful photography and excellent articles.3-0 out of 5 stars Lots of wurst, but not much meat
I bought a subscription for my mother (Munchen born, still has accent) last year for christmas. I had never seen the magazine on a news stand, so I took a chance. She was very happy to get it and she said she liked the stories. Her complaint being that there wasn't enough in it to keep her interested or wanting a renewal. I glanced through a copy and echoed her review. She enjoyed the pictures and often took the magazine to work to show her co-workers places she had been etc. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Why I love Minerva
Minerva is one of my favorite mags.I studied archeology in graduate school and classical civ in undergrad and I find it a fun way to maintain a flavor of both. I'm also an artist and I've always been facinated by ancient art forms. Most of the items shown are museum quality artifacts, but I get great ideas for my own work from these issues. The articles tend to be obscure for casual readers, but I find them informative and interesting. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Made Up My Mind
I have a subscription to Royalty Magazine and I was going to subscribe to Majesty, but after reading some of the reviews I decided not to because of the bias of it's owner/editor, Ingrid Seward. And also because it only reports on the British royals and now that they have let the "Mongrel" into the family I do not want to hear about her. I have also read reports that she was a big hit here in the U.S..Ha! She wasn't. Thank you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Royalty is much better
not by a whole lot, but I like Royalty's focus on the "other" monarchies in Europe and of the world and not just on the ever boring, fuddy duddy "Windsors."
5-0 out of 5 stars Love this magazine
Majesty magazine features mostly the British royal family. They do cover other European and some world royal families. This magazine is great for pictures and articles. I do enjoy the articles on homes and the family members in a historical perspective. The editor seems to favor the Charles "camp" more than the Diana "camp" but they still feature both of them in a positive light and in a respectful manner. I wish I could see issues from the beginning, but I have subscribed to this magazine for the last three years. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Vibrant Examination of International Issues
An avid consumer of foreign policy publications, the Brown Journal of World Affairs stands out amongst its peers as the preeminent journal on world affairs. It brings together a variety of writers to engage in intellectual discussions of breadth and vibrancy that transcend the scope of mainstream media. It manages to provide insights into issues that further the pursuit of sophisticated research while being accessible to most readers. The Journal has consistently chosen topics that are often neglected and illuminates them to world acknowledgement. The current issue on the European Union Foreign and Security Policy taps into a debate that is at the forefront of IR scholarship, while the section on Iran covers an often overlooked key player in the Middle East. With these dynamic section topics I can only applaud the Journal and wish it success in the future.
