5-0 out of 5 stars A very, very invigorating magazine..
I am a IT prof. Thus, I subscribed to this mag.; only with the perspective to gain a "little" insight into the working of the brain, instead of having to go through tons of myraid med. literature. What I was pleasantly surprised with and I really mean it - is this editorial board's ability to present even day-to-day matter which even "might" concern some neural science in such a lovely and beautiful manner; that even my wife (who's just a plain house-wife) loves to read. The subject matter discussed IN NO WAY can be considered to be MEDICAL, but rather a CRITICAL APPRECIATION AND DISCUSSION of every-day issues and stuff we notice around each each day. The amount of advertisement is bare minimum ; quality of print is excellent ; the writings are terrific. ONE OF THE BEST MAGAZINES TO HAVE on SHELF. (Proof - my sister's 16-yr. old came to visit me. She's BUILT on video-games, Skype/AOL chat and MS Civilization III. She opened this mag., started to read it and finished the 4 issues I had till midnight!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Mind Engaging
This is my favorite magazine about the mind, particularly with respect to consciousness. It's like a meeting of the minds (no pun intended) between spiritual phenomena and scientific discovery. The articles are seriously interesting and always have a new twist. I do wish it was printed more frequently however it is worth the wait for each issue.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite magazine
This is the best magazine I've read lately. It is still new, and I've only received 4 issues, but read each cover to cover, finding each article fascinating, and very accessible (unlike the parent publication, which is occasionally over my head.)It may be just because I like the subject matter - but it seems to me these are subjects which would interest most people. Some recent articles (as of Oct. 2005) included why we lie, the meaning of dreams, the nature of consciousness, what causes creativitity, what is deja vu.It is one subscription which is well worth the money. The only drawback I've found is that it is quarterly - sometimes it seems like a long wait between issues. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars the new england journalfor the paranormal
fate is a british mag. thatt's not easly advailable here in the us.it took me 5 years to track it down 10 years ago.i've been getting it since 1999.
5-0 out of 5 stars Curiosities Galore
This magazine is dedicated to the study of unexplained phenonema. Everything from 2 headed ghosts to UFO's.This is not like the National Enquirer which is only vaguely interested in the truth. Everything in the magazine adheres to the highest journalistic principles. It reports what has been reported but never makes claims that can't be substantiated.
5-0 out of 5 stars Curiousier and curiousier........
This is the one and only magazine I have been subscribing to for 4 years now, I just don't want to miss getting an issue at the bookstore. This magazine always tweaks my intellect and satisfies my curiousity. Also being a British publication you don't have that annoying 'continued on page 88' while reading an article , the article's pages run continously to the start of the next article. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of a kind
FATE is a full-color, 130 page monthly magazine (12issues/year)that delivers a truly one-of-a-kind reading experience. Topics include ghosts and the paranormal, psychic phenomena, ancient mysteries, folklore/myth, and all kinds of other high strangeness. Think the X Files in a monthly magazine. A perfect pick-up for you C2CAM fans out there (which is how I found out about it). You won't be disappointed.
1-0 out of 5 stars Definitely NOT a science magazine
Why this is in the science section is completely beyond me.This is just another rag "exposing" the secret of UFOs, Bigfoot and the Boogeyman. It's a cute read, but so's Weekly World News.Definitely NOT to be taken seriously.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fate Magazine
THIS IS THE BEST MAGAZINE I HAVE EVER READ. I HAVE HAD A SUBSCRIPTION SINCE 1994. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE PARANORMAL, THEN YOU HAVE PURCHASED THE LEADING MAGAZINE IN THIS FIELD. EVERY TOPIC DISCUSSED IS RESEARCHED AND VERIFIED.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hey Fruitcake
Funny you rate all skeptical magazines below a 2.. But the real x-files a 5... keep your biases elsewhere, as your opinion is wrong(there is such thing as a wrong opinion) Your not a "Skeptic of the skeptical" your purely a cynic and nothing more. Stick to the bible and your conspiracy theories as they have no worth what so ever.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good on analysis, lousy on tolerance
I enjoy science in its many forms and enjoy the Skeptical Inquirer for its thorough and logical explanation of "weird" events. While it takes the "fun" out of things like ghosts and UFOs,having the phenomena explained rationally is a treat in itself.Unfortunately I find the journal a little difficult to read at times. The intolerance of the beliefs of others gets a little difficult to take when it's so much in your face.Often the authors are condescending, sometimes outright insulting, with resepct to non-scientific points of view. There are times when they literally attack the individuals themselves instead of the ideas they propose. No matter how logical the discussion, it seems inappropriate for a journal whose purpose is the scientific explanation of events and phenomena to take such an emotional posture.Surely the attitude will do more harm than good, since those who sense that they are personally under attack will rise to their own defense and become even more entrenched in their beliefs.Instead of learning a new way of analyzing data and becoming less credulous, they will become even more resistant to a logical approach.Since some of the journal's own readership may be among these, the authors' risk losing the opportunity to teach and end up preaching to the choir of the convinced. What's the point? It seems to me that an entirely non-judgemental, just-the-facts approach would be in the best interests of the periodical and its readership.

5-0 out of 5 stars New Agers & Conspiracy Theorists, This One's for You!
Skeptical Inquirer has got to be, hands down, my absolute favorite periodical (Free Inquiry comes in a close second).Produced by the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP), the magazine aims to separate "fact from myth in the flood of occultism and pseudoscience on the scene today."Through scientific inquiry, scholarly research, and in-depth analysis, it succeeds (and with flair!).

Dream Network has been my guiding dream star throughout my most productive dreaming years from the first issue onward. Editor, Roberta Ossana is one gutsy lady and a fine friend, undaunted in her passion to nurture a dream journal for the people ... what I call a Grassroots Dream Journal.
5-0 out of 5 stars Perchance to Dream
When I was first introduced to Dream Network over 6 years ago, I was immediately impressed with its entire format. It exposed me to an impressive source of insightful articles, creative editorials, dream analysis, art and even dream poetry. It also provided me with a vast source of contacts and techniques used in dream therapy and evaluation.

4-0 out of 5 stars The quarterly publication of the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC
Rosicrucian Digest is the quarterly publication of the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC. The Order, loosely related to the Masons, is devoted to mystical and philosophical studies. They are headquartered at beautiful Rosicrucian Park in San Jose, California. The park is an incredible experience in itself; all buildings have mock-Ancient Egyptian exteriors that provides the sensation of stepping back in time by 5000 years. The jewel of the park is Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, the largest collection of Ancient Egyptian artifacts on display on the West Coast. Artwork, jewelry, authentic mummies, and even a tour through a tomb replica, are offered. If you ever have the opportunity, I highly recommend a visit. The museum has been a favorite hangout of mine since early childhood. It is a spiritual experience in itself. http://www.egyptianmuseum.org/Read more
