5-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine
This is a great resource for any Catholic that wants to spend more time in prayer. You will appreciate it even more if you are a busy mom like me, because every monthly issue gathers all you need for daily mass plus your everyday prayers and bible reading. I love this magazine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Magnificat - wonderful spiritual tool
Several years ago these magazines were given out free at the annual Eucharistic Congress in Atlanta.I have been hooked ever since. My wife and I use them in our daily devotions.I have used the meditations to help prepare the Cursillo team when I was rector, and have used the daily prayers many times in preparing talks. Many of my friends and prayer partners now read it every day also.

5-0 out of 5 stars the ultimate guide for daily spiritual inspiration
MAGNIFICAT IS THE ULTIMATE CATHOLIC'S GUIDE TO DAILY MASS, SUNDAY MASS AND DAILY INSPIRATION. IT HAS THE READINGS AND RESPONSES FOR EACH DAY'S MASS. IT HAS A CALENDAR OF FEAST DAYS. ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS IS THE DAILY INSIPRATION EITHER BASED ON THE LIFE OF THE SAINT FOR THAT DAY OR USUSALLY TIED TO THE THE READINGS FOR THAT DAY. I ALSO ENJOY THE HISTORICAL WRITE-UP AT THE END OF EACH ISSUE ON AN OBSCURE SAINT OR THE POPULAR SAINTS. EACH ISSUE IS JAM PACKED FULL OF MATERIAL TO HELP YOU CELEBRATE OUR CATHOLIC RELIGION! I LOOK FORWARD TO IT EACH MONTH. MAGNIFICAT IS TRULY WORTH THE 39.95

This magazine is, in my opinion, well thought out.The articles are interesting, relevant and well-written.Good photography.Quality paper.I enjoy reading it and look forward to reading it.Of all the magazines in our waiting room, more patients have had positive remarks on this magazine than any other.I just re-subscribed for my second year and quite pleased.Highly recommend. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Not the best, but VERY VERY good
I wouldn't say this is the best in Christian scholarship like one review, but it is not some fluffy piece of crap either. This journal is generally quite challenging and interesting to read. It may not be respected as the most academically rigorous journal out there, but it is very accessible to relatively unread laity who are interested in stretching their views and understanding of the issues of religion in the public sphere.
5-0 out of 5 stars Don't leave home without this intellectual journal.
First Things editor Richard John Neuhaus is famous for two things.
5-0 out of 5 stars Seeking the Truth
First Things take issues as they come and, within a stable context of theological and moral commitment, provide insight into the processes that define our cultural, social, economic, and political world.Father Richard John Neuhaus believes the public square ought to be a venue in which the truth is sought, and to deny moral argument, based on theological principles, a place in public debate over public policy is profoundly undemocratic.First Things combats the current erosion of respect for universal moral norms by providing a forum for exceptionally rich intellectual discourse to take place. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars the fastest, most enjoyable way to get up to speed on a fascinating area
I once asked the Regius Professor of Hebrew at the University of Cambridge how he stays abreast of fast-moving developments in biblical archaeology, a field of investigation that is related but decidely peripheral to his own work.
4-0 out of 5 stars Biblical Archaeology Magazine
The first issue was very interesting and look forward to the next one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Review of Biblical Archeology Review
I've subscribed to BAR for at least 6 years now, and I enjoy the mix of articles on Holy Land archeology and related topics. The current events reported are informative and useful. The book reviews are helpful for guiding further reading in the field.I recommend it highly. My only complaint about the content would be that the editor tends to focus on controversies in the press and in the field that perhaps merit less attention than he gives it.Of course, it seems self-serving on his part to keep beating drums, but it is never dull.Probably sells a few extra copies evry month as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Back to Christ
I was not a very good Christian a few years ago, my faith had slipped and practically dissolved. Then I was blessed by becoming friends with a true follower of Christ with his feet firmly embedded on the Lords path and content in his place with Him.The young man (he was only 45) brought me back into the fold and back to Jesus.I know it was his wife who secretly sent me the subscription for the first time.It has made such a difference in my life and my husbands, we can read the articles together and get so much wonderful information and answers at times, we never knew we were asking! My "Mentor David passed away suddenly last year, and although I know where he is and is watching over us all, with the help of his kindness, love and faith, between him, his wife, and Today's Christian Woman, my home and family and others who I am able to touch with the joy of knowing Christ, it helps to ease the pain of loss and the knowledge that I am "on the right path".
5-0 out of 5 stars This is an awesome magazine!
This is the only magazine I read from cover to cover.I wish it came out every month!I pass it to my sister after I'm finished with it.It is very informative and very well-written.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great magazine!
I can't wait for the next issue. In every issue there are biblically based articles that are in todays news or interviews with people that are an inspiration to accomplish much in our everyday lives. There is always an article that I can introduce to my non-Christian friends to get the message across. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars This is Christian???
A friend ordered me a subscription to Brio, and, frankly, it disgusted me.It talks about God in a hip, "funny" (yeah right) way that any Christian should think is slightly disrespectful and at least one article about guys is ALWAYS in the contents.I couldn't believe this is considered a "Christian girl" magazine. When I get mine I throw it straight in the garbage, where it belongs.

2-0 out of 5 stars Brio- nonono
I got that magazine last year and frankly, I'm disappointed. I am a Christian, so I thought I'd give that a try, but it was very plain and frankly very boring. It had little things that girls like, like clothes, makeup, tips, etc.On the positive side, it does have good help information. I would suggest that if you have a teen girl, try the magazine "Justine" which is wholesome and hip and for the more conservative reader.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'd give it 4 1/2 stars - I'm rounding up!
The only reason I'd subtract a half a point is because I'm not absolutely fanatical about it. I do enjoy reading it a lot though! :)! There are so many cool feature articles, and the Brio staff include fun and easy (usually easy!) things to do when you're bored. I usually enjoy reading a short fiction piece they sometimes include, and the quizzes are always fun. If you're a Christian teen under 16, I'd recommend subscribing to it. If you're from 16-19, try Brio and Beyond, the older version. ... Read more

This is an amazing magazine, but I, like the others, had trouble getting it through amazon.I ordered it just fine, but the company automatically refunded my money 8 weeks later.I never received any issues. It was listed as "returned" but I never returned anything.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Wall Street Journal of the neo-evangelical movement
In some circles, to arrive at the office without having read the Wall Street Journal is like turning up in your boxer shorts and a sneaker. In other circles, the same can be said of 'CT', as it is known to regular readers, which include virtually everyone of influence in the evangelical movement in America.
5-0 out of 5 stars I get giddy with excitement when it arrives every month...
As a self-diagnosed Christianity Today junkie, I cannot speak highly enough about Christianity Today as a thoughtful and comprehensive resource for anyone interested in the Christian faith.CT was the brainchild of Billy Graham fifty years ago, and it maintains his strain of Christian perspective, namely evangelicalism.Graham was never interested as a preacher in answering every bit of theological and doctrinal minutiae, nor does Christianity Today aim to do so.Instead, this magazine truly covers the full spectrum of issues that impact the lives of Christians, from news stories of current events and biographies of leaders within the church to analyses of important social and spiritual matters and controversial battles (past and present).CT offers a genuinely global perspective of Christianity, telling missionary stories from around the world in each issue. There are stories of successful and thriving churches of every stripe and descriptions of the victories and successes that occur within all sorts of denominations and ecclesiastical organizations. And they periodically include debates or discussions from opposing sides of important theological ideas, offering folks from both sides a forum to state their case.
4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent magazine to read
So often when looking through magazines I haven't found quite what I was looking for in the Christian literature.I like the approach Christianity Today takes. It has articles that are broad, and not focused on a specific demonination.I believe the magazine has a slight evangelical bent to it. I do like the variety of articles, and coverage of current events.I would recommend this magazine for those who want to become a little more informed of Christianity in the modern world. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars SpiritLed Woman
I have subscribed to many magazines over the years but, I have never had one that was so inspirational, and hitting home with at least one or more of the articles. When I have been down and come home to find my new copy my whole attitude changes and I know that there will be something in this issue that will help me get closer to God. I like it so much that I took advantage of the last offer to renew and give someone a free year of it. Plus I sent a friend of mine a subscriptiion for a Christmas gift last year. She was going through a really rough time and I knew that your magazine had helped me so I knew it would help her. You are doing a great job!!! Keep up the good work!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Spiritual Magazine
Spirit Led Woman is a wonderful Christian magazine. There are articles with a variety of topics, that relate to all areas of life. There is even a Devotional Section with Bible verses to read, and topics for prayer.5-0 out of 5 stars Spirit Led Woman magazine
I recommend this magazine to all Christian women who have a passion to know God and maintain a personal relationship with Him.The magazine is packed full of articles ranging from personal testimonies, articles written by well-known authors, pastors, and ministers that will aid you in your daily walk with the Lord, devotional readings and so much more.I have found this magazine to be encouraging, instructional and just plain good wholesome reading for women at all stages of their spiritual walk. 4-0 out of 5 stars A very uplifting magazine
This has to be one of the better magazines that feature spiritual and uplifting messages. This magazine is perfect for a source of interfaith Christian articles that are uplighting and inspirational.Often there are articles on famous people who discuss their spiritual life. They have some excellent columns and stories from other readers.Stories aren't too long, and great for a morning devotional.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beware of all the junk mail
If you need motivational stories, this ia a great magazine, but read it at your local library. Otherwise, you will receive a lot of junk mail, too. From renewal letters starting 6-8 months before expiration to charities asking for your donation. There is no month without some unsolicited letter from GP.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Magazine Ever
My great-grandmother bought subscriptions to Guideposts for all of her grandchildren year after year.I grew up eagerly reading the stories every month since I learned to read in grade school. When my sister and I married and moved out, my mom continued the tradition by paying for our subscriptions every year. After I read each issue, I pass it along to my girlfriend, who then passes it to her neighbor. My husband and I buy subscriptions every year for our seven adult nieces and nephews, as well as for several friends. These stories never fail to put me in a better mood.Whenever I'm feeling down or I can't sleep, I pick up a Guideposts.Usually, I can't put it down until I've read the whole issue. The stories are all from real, normal, everyday people. They get my mind off of myself, remind me of God's faithfulness, and put life in proper perspective. This is the only magazine of which I can honestly say you will not be disappointed. It is worth the price, many times over.Everyone with whom I've shared it has grown to love it, too.I feel that it's the best gift I can give someone I care about. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars not yet received
We have previously viewed this outstanding magazine and decided to purchase it as a gift for our son.We are disappointed that, although we purchased it in February, he will have to wait until May or June to receive his first copy.We hoped that he would receive the winter issue since it was already in publication. We know he will enjoy the publication but it is hard to encourage that excitement when there is nothing available to show him since we could not find an issue to give him, only a note to explain the coming issues.

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential reading
Too many Christians are ignorant of our rich past.We know a lot about the 1st Century and the current times, but everything in between is somewhat blank.Christian History magazine is more than informative; it inspires, challenges and even admonishes in its unique way.I look forward to each issue.I doubt I will ever let this expire.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good history, reasonably priced
This magazine compares favorably to "American Heritage" with its interesting and accessible but well-researched accounts of the past. Each issue focuses on a person (I just read the story of Thomas Aquinas--and hadn't realized his fascinating interaction with Muslims) or a movement (The Huguenots, who's sad history led to their dispersal from France to all over the world--including the Revere family moving to Massachusetts). All in all, an intriguing glimpse at how Christians of the past continue to influence us today. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not your father's newsweekly
As an insatiable news junky and practicing Christian reader whose work takes me to many countries each year, I recently caved to my wife's insistence and began to read the World subscription that a relative had given us.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, but "real" news?
I have enjoyed receiving World magazine the past few years. It has interesting stories and excellent editorials. However, I have stopped reading as of late, since I get much better news coverage from my daily newspapers. World magazine is not so much a weekly news publication as it is a "cultural news" publication, such as a recent cover story on Pat Robertson, movie, book, and music reviews, usually a story about some person or group that is doing good things, and some small snippets of news. While I wouldn't subscribe to US News and World Report, Newsweek, or Time, I also wouldn't put this magazine in the same category. It is world happenings and culture stuff from a Christian worldview, but don't expect to be updated each week on the latest and greatest news by something other than a small paragraph.Otherwise, it makes for nice bedtime reading.

2-0 out of 5 stars I'M RELEVANT! REALLY I AM!! I'M SO RELEVANT!!!
Please read Naomi Jakobs' review for Relevant Magazine below. It captures so brilliantly and eloquently the heart of the Christian 'post-modern' kick. If you have to go out of your way to claim you're a celebrity, then you simply aren't a celebrity (Take "Fitness Celebrity" John Basedow for example). In the same way, if you have go out of your way to claim that the Post-modern Evangelical movement is relevant, then you're claim for relevancy is simply not credible. The Christian church has certainly played a vastly significant role in the past 2000 years. However pop-culturalizing Evangelical Christianity isn't causing it to be any more relevant than it was when Sandi Patty or Carmen ruled the Christian top 40. Does the fact that some Christians enjoy the latest musical fads make the concept of accepting a human blood-sacrifice for the pardon of sins more palatable?

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Quite Relevant Yet
Is this an interesting magazine for Christians, as well as a good information source about movies and music?
5-0 out of 5 stars Hands down the best modern day Christian reading material today
Growing up in the church, I've received a lot of Christian magazines, from in depth analysis on Scripture, to Q&A on highschool drama help, but all have fallen short of what young Christians today are looking for.I followed Relevant magazine before they released their 1st magazine and kept up with the amazing articles online.I was very excited for the debut of a magazine that made God relevant to specific everyday life decisions and made God seem ever more practical in the way we construct our lifestyles.God has obviously done great things with this staff and is still working.Their podcast is also great and really demonstrates the character of today's young christian thinkers who are excited in their faith and are willing to show it.They bring a lot to hope and pray for for the Christians living in a culture that denies Christ.I'm not a twentysomething quite yet, but the message of Relevant is important which is: put away with your indifference and go out and make a mark on culture for the glory of God. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must read for conservative (orthodox with a small
Touchstone features articles, editorials, book reviews and other material from the perspective of Protestant (both mainline and evangelical), Catholic and Orthodox Christians who hold to traditional, orthodox understandings of Christian morality. It tackles the tough issues of our time both in scholarly articles and practical advice for parents who must raise children to be faithful in a post-Christian culture. While it does not seek a false ecumenicalism which demands unity at all cost (see the July/August 2003 issue on "Christian Unity & the Divisions we must Sustain"), it also recognizes that orthodox believers of all three major branches of Christianity must work together on moral issues on which we all agree.
5-0 out of 5 stars A true touchstone for the heart and mind
Touchstone is one of the better magazines/journals to discuss and debate the meaning of the mind and heart in the contemporary world by standing on the shoulders of those who have struggled with this perennial question in the past. The editors, numerous in number, are Orthodox, Roman, and Protestant Christians who take seriously the creeds and scriptures of the Church. In other words, they realize that Tradition is the glue that holds the Church together, and by extension, sanitizes and sanctifies culture.
5-0 out of 5 stars Presents The Three Branches of Christianity

5-0 out of 5 stars I can't let go of an issue!
Discipleship Journal takes me back to the days when I used to run to the mailbox each day to find out if something had arrived for me.The whole of it is a gift, pure and simple.Whether I need suggestions for an icebreaker at a small group I lead, inspiration from authors like Mark Buchanan and Paul Thigpen, or thoughtful pieces on Biblical interpretation and application, it's there. Each issue contains a suggested daily Bible study guide that individuals or groups can use, corresponding to different pieces in the issue, along with relevant passages from the Old and New Testaments.5-0 out of 5 stars Great spiritual helps magazine
I have been a subscriber to DJ for over twenty years. There is no fluff in this magazine, just milk and meat to challenge the believer to go higher in their walk with Messiah.5-0 out of 5 stars Meaty, Challenging, Instructive
"Discipleship Journal" does what many other Christian magazines do not do. It provides instruction, and challenges the reader to be directly and fully engaged in a Christ-focused faith. While others may talk about Christianity, DJ asks you to pursue Christ through responding to Scripture.
