Um, no magazine
I'm sure this is a great magazine.But after ordering it and waiting 4 months I still don't have it.I have contacted the Amazon magazine service twice now and still don't know where my magazine is, or when it is coming.I was supposed to be coming in mid march (so there is a wait to begin with fyi).I gave this review 2 stars because I'm sure it is a good magazine, but the publisher apparently has problems working with Amazon to get it to my house, so they are not scoring to high in my mind.
Beginner-friendly...seriously
I've been buying Runner's World off and on for years and everytime I pick up a copy, I never feel warded off the sport. I'm trying to train for a triathlon and everytime I pick up a magazine relating to triathlons in general, I feel like I'm the laziest ass on the planet. I'm not going to not do one because of this but it doesn't really help motivate a beginner. I love Runner's World because it's all-inclusive, for any level, for any age.
Excellent magazine
Being an infrequent runner and trying to get back into shape for the Baltimore marathon this year, Runner's World is indispensible.A number of the articles are encouraging and help me with training, diet, etc.The equipment reviews make me salivate (I wish I could afford one of the Garmin training watches), but in all it's a great magazine.I highly recommend it! ... best travel and adventure magazine
I am mostly a low energy, armchair traveller but enjoy photography and reading about exciting new places and activities. This magazine has fit all these criterias. Outside focuses on exploring different locales that are extremely exciting as opposed to standard vacation hotspots such as Florida, the Carribbean, or Hawaii. The articles transport you to rafting Victoria Falls, deep water dives in South Africa, Alaskan fishing and hiking, plus lots of remote places such as Dominica or the Seychilles. I love how vibrant and rich the photography is and how well covered the articles are. Mind you there is something wondeful about reading magazines that highlight typical vacation spots, but for the adventuresome who like off the cuff travels, reclusive lodges, eco-villages, and remote islands this would be more your speed.

Inconsistent
Outside Magazine and I have had an up and down relationship for many years.At times, Outside seduces me with great journalism, awesome photos, and fun facts.I've loved its fearless tackling of environmental issues and its ability to transport me to truly exotic places.At other times, i question its journalistic integrity, emphasis on the latest and greatest gear, and shameless trumpeting of past successes. At times the advice it gives also seems more aimed at insecurities (you need this gear to be successful, you need to live HERE to live a fulfilling life) than I think a magazine focusing on fun in the outdoors should.

Pleasure
This came promptly and is a "joy " to read.It is very informative for all types of golfers, women and men,low and high handicappers.

Get in the swing
I've had a subscription to this mag for years.Great stories and the photos are top of the line. While it was a much better pub when the NY Times owned it (the people who worked there actually golfed), since Conde has bought it, it's gone downhill a bit. Still, it's hard to kill a great sport.

My top choice for Golf magazines, however...
Golf Digest is the best magazine, covers great players, have standard lessons from top golf teachers and schools and allways very useful tips.

Good Quick Reads
I recently took a trip to the beach and brought along my ESPN mag to play in the sand. Good quick tidbits and interesting focuses "personal" side of the players. I have always been a fan of the design of this mag. I would like to see some more in depth articlesin the future but overall worth the cover price.

A little bit of everything, but not much of anything
ESPN the Magazine falls somewhere between The Sporting News and Sports Illustrated.SI gives in depth articles about the athletes of the game and the games/teams themselves, but not much in the way of stats and analysis.TSN dives deep on the stats and analysis.ESPNTM gives you the superficialities of both.Sadly, the only reason I continue to renew my ESPNTM subscription is because its the cheapest way to keep up my ESPN Insider web subscription. ... A decent fitness magazine IF you can overlook the flaws
About two years ago, I became a subscriber to Shape, mainly because I had received it for free as part of a package deal with another magazine.I had always liked browsing through issues of Shape in the supermarket, and I thought that being a subscriber would help support my fitness goals.Overall, I have enjoyed Shape and found it to be useful, but there definitely are some negatives, and the magazine might not be for everyone.
Shape
I like Shape because it has great tips to help spice up a workout so you never get bored.There are great articles on places to stay, hike, relax, etc.As well, there are great inspirational stories.

Best exercise magazine
Their work out are very effective if you comply with the guideliness for each move and routine. I love it!!!

Second best but not bad
FourFourTwo is full of ads and reflects the corporate side of our national game. The interviews are often anodyne and it tends to concentrate on the big clubs. When Saturday Comes is better reflecting football culture in all its various forms, unfortunately you'll have to search for it stateside. That said, this is ok and, in the land of the ball game, it must be manna from heaven.

England 2006
Being from Montana you always get the best football news or football for that matter. I am forced to rely on 442 and never am I dissapointed. From news of trades, fights or simply Sir Bobby Robson's take on the latest news you can't go wrong with this magazine.

The Best Football Magazine
I lived in England until I came out to the States a few years ago. I had a subscription to this magazine then, and I depend on it even more now. For someone addicted to the REAL football in a town like Cincinnati isn't easy- but this magazine is like you're back in England. We paid for a 12 month subscription and I got the magazine for about 4 months. I couldn't get anyone to answer why it stopped and basically they just took my money. I didn't get a 12 month subscription. I got ripped off.
Uncle Abe loved 'The Sporting News'
Years ago 'The Sporting News' was the fans' 'bible'. I can remember what a special feeling it gave to look at it, the real lowdown, the most bottom- line stuff , more statistics than even the greatest baseball nut could ever remember.

worst of the biker rags
gave it a 1, just because it had bikes in the rag, but seriously this rag is close to kiddie porn,if you really want a v-twin biker mag,check out American-Iron,Us Rider News [formally Dixie-Rider],and HotRodsBikeWorks mag.you won't be disappointed in any of these three. but stay away from easyriders unless your more into kiddie porn than bikes.

This is a good take on the lifestyle.
Your mom may not like this magazine but thats the apeal.I got to reading it over seas and I have to say it is the best bike magazine I have ever read it has T and A and hot bikes. But it is not just that if it new and cool and for you bike they got that to.It just has every thing need.

Owning and Caring for Horses
Horse Illustrated is a monthly magazine designed to appeal mostly to horse owners and to those who have an avid interest in horseback riding, horse care and maintenance, and other related subjects. This publication covers a wide range of topics like care for horses, selecting a breed, finding the best boarding, horse health care, and more. The magazine offers a large number of topics each month that cover the essentials of equine care and most of these are pretty good in covering the basics necessities to keep horses looking and feeling their best. These articles, while not always very in- depth, are generally good and they make the magazine worth reading for the horse owner.
Okay magazine
I read some of the other reviews and was very intruiged. Yes, the photography is wonderful. But... if you are an amateur horseback rider, getting Horse Illustrated's book, Caring for Your Horse, or English Riding, or Buying a Horse, etc. would be a lot smarter than ordering this magazine. In a year's subscription, I found two really helpful articles. Some would start out great... and then just meander around and not give much info. There is also a lot more about horse care in here, and not much about riding/training. You could get a book for the price of this magazine and learn tons more.

Great Magazine for Horse Owners
Horse Illustrated is the largest equine publication in America and it serves a great audience--the novice horse owner. It is both entertaining and informative. And it is written for an adult audience, not for "younger riders" as some are saying. It's sister publication, "Young Rider" IS. To the person who wrote in about not having any depth: well, Equus on average has only four features per issue! And you know what one of them was this month? An indepth article on photographs of kids on ponies! Like that's useful? And Horse Journal is boring--unless you want to read pedantic article after article on 87 saddle pads or 55 liniments.

Time Warp
I enjoy the magazine as a whole.But if you want current information on the UFC, Pride or any of the other MMA organizations the internet is a much better resoource.I just read the April issue of Grappling (Today is March 17) and the articles all were about fights coming in December.Which made a lot of the articles seem very dated.

Part how-to, part sport coverage, part schlock
Grappling magazine tries to wear many hats. With regular features by such grappling greats Kid Peligrio and Royler Gracie, they offer great general training advice. Every month, they carry articles with interviews and techniques from top competitors around the globe (Gokor, Tito, JJ, BJ Penn). Some of the techniques are great. Some... not so much so, in that they seem awkward, impractical, or very poorly photographed/described. They also feature coverage of open grappling (NAGA, Grappler's Quest), BJJ, and freestyle/greco wrestling. Sports Illustrated gives grapplers no love, but Grappling tries to pick up the slack.Read more

GREAT magazine.
I've made better gains in 4 magazines of POWERLIFTINGUSA than my 10+ years of Muscle&Fitness & Flex. No more mindless rep after rep of the same exersizes only to show little (if any) gains for your efforts. Good reading for the outdoorsman (person)
If your looking for a degree in Wildlife management go to college and spend a bunch of money! If your looking for interesting reading material I would say this is my favorite outdoor magazine. By the way I am a student in Wildlife managemet and 99% of the time what they say is true. And the way they write it makes it so much nicer to read than text book!
Yuppified by the minute, yet stupider by the second
You would think that as the history of Field and Stream progresses and the editors and writers become high class city folk they would at least go to a college and learn to write intellegently.This magazine is full of nothing but opinions (not that i disagree with them, i just wished they sounded smart when voicing their thoughts).These writers have no background in wildlife management, yet give advice like they do.And if they do have a management background, I am glad i'm not getting my Wildlife Resource degree there.Field and Stream has became another tool of arguement.Readers yelling at writters and writters responding with cussing (no joke).The only joke here is field and Stream.Teaches nothing.Says nothing.Costs a lot. ... They lost me
I used to pick this up regularly until one issue featuring an article listing the most scenic places to defecate was written. I figured by that time, the editorial staff had just about scraped the bottom of the pit toilet not having anything better to write about. Still, there are some good trail write-ups from time to time. They'll have to work harder to get me back though.

This magazine has lost a bit in the past couple years....
This magazine used to be a great resource for hard core bakcpackers with articles about transcendent survival stories and epic backpacking opportunities all over the world.In the past couple years they have changed their format drastically and have focused on "regional" editions and over the top gadget and gear coverage for total gear-wonks.
great magazine but a bit too close to its advertisers
I look forward to Backpacker every month.It mixes practical trail information about hikes with feature stories, articles about gear, and always has great pictures.Most of the columnists and regular features are also interesting.I find one of them annoying, but I can live with that.

Very good magazine, interesting.
This magazine has good articles about golf and on golf instruction.The pictures on golf instruction are always very clear and not hard to follow.I think there are too many ads at times which I sometimes get tired of reading...
Nice illustrations for lessons
I really enjoy how they illustrate and break down their lessons into different playing abilities.Even though they break down the lessons into breaking 80, 90, 100, straight hitter looking for power or power hitter looking for accuracy, they are all very helpful. No matter what your playing ability, I think any golfer can take away a little bit of advice from the playing lessons. Unfortunately, Golf Magazine seems to be a little weak on their travel side lately though; not really focusing on that perhaps due to the downturn in travel in recent months.I wish they would focus on that a little more like some other magazines such as T&L golf or The Golfer.

The best of a big field
I've spent the last couple of months plowing through every golf magazine I could get my hands on, including Golf, Golf Illustrated, Golf Tips, and Stroke Savers to name a few.Golf Magazine, which has been around since 1959 and comes out monthly, is by far the best in terms of quality, content and presentation.While they all feature tips and lessons, Golf's photos are the most helpful to me, for instance showing stance, grip and frame-by-frame swing photos in separate boxes.I also find their paper quality and photos to be better, and their non-instructional articles to be more interesting.Add to that the fact that the magazine is published monthly, rather than a few times a year, and I believe it's the best deal for the money, especially as inexpensive as it is.Read more
