Longstanding, veritable classic!Incredible articles
What positives can one say about 'National Geographic' magazine that hasn't been said already.'NG' is an American institution that appeals to individuals with a thirst for multi-culturalism, science, and sociology.And the photography is stunning to say the least.It is often said that 'the best education' is to travel far and wide and see how other cultures live and think.Since this isn't practical for many, the next best thing is to read 'National Geographic' magazine!In addition, the fairly recent cover article on 'Evolution' was well written, convincing, and accurate!And to the myopic reviewer below who thinks that the world revolves around her, and who mentioned is not into Soccer, I say this to her:most of the world loves Soccer (technically called Football), and all the NFL, MLB, and NBA fans COMBINED don't even come close to the combined numbers of Soccer fans worldwide!I am a subscriber for life.

Great, getting a little 'out there'
I've been a subscriber for over fifteen years, and will probably continue to subscribe until the day I die. But at times I find National Geographic frustrating. I have no interest in Soccer, nor do I want a huge fold-out map discussing the sport. Aren't there more phenomenal things going on in the world today? Also, Geographic does have its pet topics.
excellent magazine for lay people
National Geographic Magazine is written primarily for theperson with little or no background in Geography. It is not an intense scholarly magazine and , as a Geograohy professor pointed out, tends to be chatty. But, it does give great information on geopgraphy as well as other fields in the Social Sciences even Natural History. There are many articles about people and places around the world and their customs. There are articles on the latest explorations and discoveries. Such as the rediscovery of the Gnostic Gospel of Judas and the oldest tatooed mummy.Zip USA takes a single US Zip Code and describes the customs and practices of the people living within that zip code. There are many interesting articles about people and places in the United States.

best travel and adventure magazine
I am mostly a low energy, armchair traveller but enjoy photography and reading about exciting new places and activities. This magazine has fit all these criterias. Outside focuses on exploring different locales that are extremely exciting as opposed to standard vacation hotspots such as Florida, the Carribbean, or Hawaii. The articles transport you to rafting Victoria Falls, deep water dives in South Africa, Alaskan fishing and hiking, plus lots of remote places such as Dominica or the Seychilles. I love how vibrant and rich the photography is and how well covered the articles are. Mind you there is something wondeful about reading magazines that highlight typical vacation spots, but for the adventuresome who like off the cuff travels, reclusive lodges, eco-villages, and remote islands this would be more your speed.

Inconsistent
Outside Magazine and I have had an up and down relationship for many years.At times, Outside seduces me with great journalism, awesome photos, and fun facts.I've loved its fearless tackling of environmental issues and its ability to transport me to truly exotic places.At other times, i question its journalistic integrity, emphasis on the latest and greatest gear, and shameless trumpeting of past successes. At times the advice it gives also seems more aimed at insecurities (you need this gear to be successful, you need to live HERE to live a fulfilling life) than I think a magazine focusing on fun in the outdoors should.

If your are interested in travel, culture, dining, society, or photography, this is absolutely the magazine for you.
A Quality Magazine
Unlike other travel magazines, this one provides a lot of useful information while holding advertising to a minimum and not interlarding promos throughout the articles (Rick Steves, are you listening?). Each issue contains a wide variety of material about diferent parts of the world and the information provided for featured destinations is truly useful. In other words, the information is trustworthy, the first prerequisite for a travel magazine.
Finest Photo Journalism in Travel Genre and Best Cultural Destinations
National Geographic Traveler brings content rich information about the locations covered, the culture of the people, places to stay for many budgets, along with breathtaking photography that makes me want to leap right into the pages.

in this age of digital media, a billion cable channels and the internet, you might think nat geo print editions are a dinosaur.
Adventures for Adults and Family
I especially love this magazine because it gives details of different "non tourist" adventurous things to do.EIther with the family or by yourself.From Canoeing to Climbing a mountain.I recommend it for anyone who likes the outdoors and likes to live on the edge, and with this magazine you will know what most adventure-ers dont.

Global travel, Ecotourism, Out-of-the-ordinary info
What I love most about this travel magazine is the out-of-the-ordinary information it provides within a particular destination. Although primarily geared towards $$$$$+ destinations, the editors do a great job with providing more than just great hotel info. In the September 2006 edition, there is the 12 th annual Green List which details the best places in ecotourism - preserving earth's environment and cultures while traveling to the destinations that are simultaneously earth and people friendly. It happens to be a great magazine, well researched, well written, and informative while delivering unique information.
It takes at least 4 months to arrive!
I ordered this as a gift subscription on May 10.
Travels of the Rich
Conde Nast Traveler is a magazine for the wealthy or the want-a-bees.The magazine is geared mostly to North America and Europe.It tells where to eat, shop or be seen on the two continents.For example, an article will inform the reader of a new five-star Sushi restaurant in Florence, Italy.Thus, if you plan to travel to Florence for Sushi (not Michelangelo), this is the magazine for you.It is a great coffee table magazine for the armchair traveler, for the pictures are gorgeous.

Great Magazine. I have read it for years, just as I will visit mytravelscenes.com regularly
I was surfing the net and I happened upon this site.It is obviously a amatures site, but it is chock full of valuable information.The photos on the site were vivid and intriguing.Not to mention that this site actually has links available for use when I was ready to book my travel.I discovered things to do in my destination location prior to leaving the comfort of my home and well in advance of taking my trip.As a long time traveler I highly recommend this site to any and everyone who travels.So give them a chance they are at http://www.mytravelscenes.com

This is one of the worse magazines I have picked up in years.If you have "money to burn" traveling, then it might be for you.Loaded with advertising and little 'true' content.

A little perspective
A lot of reviewers share similar views, as seen in the recurrence of similar criticism of today's magazines.What these complaints also have in common is that they can tend to be fairly uninformed in regard to certain issues.First off, we all know that T+L is for "affluent travelers."Read the publisher's description, and it will tell you just that.So if you're not an affluent traveler, then don't waste your money on T+L and stick to Budget Travel.T+L occassionally has "affordable" stories, especially in their affordable issue in March.But don't expect the hotels to be to be under $200 a night.You know why?Because nowadays under $200 a night means you're a step above a youth hostal, especially in Europe where you pay an extra 20% on top of every dollar with today's exchange rate.The point is that T+L never positioned itself as an affordable travel mag, so to criticize its shortcomings in that respect is an invalid complaint.

Useful for Any Traveler
I go to a gym where people share their magazines, and came across this gem. While it focuses on value vacation packages, the benefit that I've gained from it is its list of 40 top vacation packages to destinations around the world. The magazine also offers an up-to-date web page describing even more places and bargains. It has really expanded my horizons about possible vacation spots. That alone is worth the reasonable cost.

Good and Useful Information
Frommer's Budget Travel always has something I can use - every month.Their 20 quick tips are great, the features are actually trips that can be taken without breaking the bank.2 thumbs up!

Budget Travel is a quite a neat colorful magazine and is loaded with exotic far-away landscapes that do what they are designed to and give one a lift into dreamland. I also like some, not all, of their articles which tend to be well prepared and nicely written.

Only white people on the coast?
I had heard good things about this magazine and so ordered a sample.It is a lovely magazine, beautiful photos and it is interesting reading about "other coasts" (besides east and west).But, at least with the most recent issue, in every article about families or couples and their coastal homes the people were all caucasian.Even the advertisements had only white people (save for one about vacationing in Mexico that had some cute Mexican children in it).While I doubt this is intentional, I would encourage the publishers of this magazine to put their attention on this issue.There are plenty of people of color living on the coast who have interesting homes and lives that readers would enjoy learning about.

Enticing Photos and Great Articles
Coastal Living is a professionally- made magazine with lots of enticing photographs, personal stories, and general advice on making the most out of life on the coast. The emphasis in Coastal Living is on waterfront property and the events and entertainment that often take place in cities with a large coastal area.
From Decorating To Environmental Issues
You don't have to live on the coast to enjoy this magazine, you only have to love it. "Coastal Living" is informative and enjoyable reading that covers everything from decorating a beach home to getting involved with environmental causes.

A very informative magazine for the novitiate and the knowledgeable.
My partner and I led a small group on a cruise (my first; he's a travel agent.) We had subscribed to Cruise Travel for several years and I had always enjoyed looking them over, and then getting to see the ships either in port or getting to do a travel agent tour. On our cruise, unknown to us at the time, were reviewers from Cruise Travel, so we had a nice surprise with the next issue when we got home. They were very thorough and honest and the accompanying pictures were great. I highly recommend the magazine both for an informative review in words and pictures of cruise ships and the ports they visit.

it's mostly advertising!
I am surprised to see other subscribers praising this magazine so much! I do not think it is fair to pay$20 for sixvery thinissues overloaded withtravel agents' ads. The "readable portion" is quite informative but miniscule

"Cruise Travel" is a magazine about cruising, and is generally informative and interesting. Though it seems to mainly pertain to an older reading audience and the photos are not always as interesting or as amazing as the other main cruise travel magazine "Porthole" I am generally pleased with the content of the magazine.

This magazine is in part a magazine of dreams. If you have ever dreamed of getting away to an island paradise, then this magazine is for you. All of the articles and photographs are of island destinations. Enjoy your taste of paradise! This magazine covers islands in every part of the world including Hawaii and the South Pacific islands.

Great photos.But that's all, folks!
The photography is fantastic.I love the shots of tropical islands, clear blue sky, soft white sands, palm trees, and crystal ocean water.Basically, paradise on display.Period.Unfortunately, everything else about the magazine is disappointing:The articles are junk, usually full of random babble which provides no real insight into searching, planning and executing a vacation.The advertising is marginally better, but the options are all limited.I can (and do) get more useful information from my travel agent, discount travel magazines & brochures, word-of-mouth, and the internet.Read more

INCREDIBLE MAGAZINE!
I was hesitant at first to spend $29 on a subscription that only sent out four issues a year, but once I received my first issue I was hooked.This magazine is incredible!The pictures of the park from the past and present, articles, and interviews make the E-Ticket magazine a page turner.If you love disneyland you will love this magazine.You can even order past issues in case you want to explore in depth your favorite disneyland attraction.

If you miss old Disneyland
Are you one of those people that go to Disneyland, and sigh wistfully, "I remember when I was young and this attraction wasn't here, and they had this great old ride they tore down"? Well this magazine is for you. A work of love by Disney historians and fans, it catalogs old attractions, shows, and personalities of Disneyland as they were in the 50's and 60's, and shows their progress and change over time. Usually an issue is devoted to one major topic, such as a land like Frontierland, or an attraction like the Mark Twain Riverboat. In that issue you would see and hear from former cast members who designed and operated the attraction. It features pictures of concept art, diagrams, the model, construction photos, and finally the finished attraction as it was then and any changes since opening.

Growing up with Walt's Disneyland, I was hungry for anything relating to the hidden facts and history of this most Magic of Kingdoms. An informative magazine for RV'ers
My husband and I have been full-timing for the past 4 yrs and we look forward to each and every issue of Trailer Life!From the informative 10-minute tech to the new and up and coming new tow vehicles, etc. Yes, there is a lot of ads, but there is a lot of useful information there on new products that every camper can use at one time or another, and no we don't "keep up with the Jones's"!We just enjoy RV'ing....

I have to agree mostly with the reader from Greeley.Trailer Life is a fine magazine if you like reading about the latest big RVs and trucks. Worth the Time to Check Out This Magazine
Having been an RVer since childhood, I find Trailer Life extremely helpful.My husband and I are carrying on the tradition that my family started when I was young - we own an RV and have traveled over 4,000 miles in one trip with a trailer.I don't find the advertisements annoying - as with any magazine, they are needed to help finance the magazine.If you are a REAL RVer, you will find the information in the advertisements helpful.As far as the feature story highlighting the tow vehicle more than the towed vehicle, this is simply not always true.Also, the feature stories from month to month show trailers of all sizes and all price ranges.One month may highlight an expensive motor home; however, the next month may highlight a much less expensive pop-up trailer.There may not be but one trailer or tow vehicle of interest highlighted each year, but it is always interesting to read about all that's out there.I must disagree with the Greeley, CO reader again -this is not a Keep-Up-With-the-Jones' magazine.Trailer Life exists to keep readers informed, not ahead of everyone else! ... The kindgom and the glory...
Along with 'British Heritage', the magazine 'Realm' is one of the periodicals I use to keep current both on the current state of Britain's traditional culture as well as the current streams of thought on the history of Britain. Each issue includes articles on the past and the present; it is useful for both residents (to learn more about the isles called home) as well as for tourists, to learn more about what is worthwhile seeing. This magazine will give ideas that go beyond the typical travel suggestion magazine, with a greater discussion of history, as well as the current personalities involved in preserving that history.

Very Good
As a certified Francofreak I can assure you this is a great little mag. This magazine goes WAY beyond the Paris and Provence cliches of a France travel magazines or books.I've read it cover to cover and still can't get enough so I am going to subscribe to the sister mag "Living in France" right now.
Beautifully presented,written.
I subscribed to this magazine because I am teaching myself French,and intend to visit France someday.This magazine really makes you want to get there.The photos are beautiful,and the articles are well-written and very informative.I particularly loved the page-by-page journey through very small hamlets and villages.

Heritage Mag
I have received 2 copies and really enjoy the magazine, the stories very greatly, and are well written, a great mag to sit and enjoy a good cup of tea with.

Rule, Britannia!
'British Heritage' has been one of my favourite magazines since my childhood. I learned much of British history, country life, culture, and style from this magazine. Despite the occasional categorisation under Archaeology in some guides and libraries, this magazine is in fact a remarkably broad-based publication that examines various aspects of British life. I think the Queen might be a bit surprised to find a story about how she spends Christmas under the heading 'Archaeology'. Delightful, informative treat
As a long time subscriber, I have found British Heritage to be as creative and interesting a magazine as must exist. Subjects are diverse, the writing intelligent and often great fun, presentation delightful. It covers everything from history (for which it is a goldmine - there are unexpected and fascinating topics in each issue) to wonderful places to visit to ideas for a perfect afternoon tea.
