1-0 out of 5 stars 1 star-LOWEST RATING, but I'd give a NOTHIN' TO IT
I think it's riddiculous to put the imagery of these girls as being hugely sexual- continuously confronted with this situation through the media images, t.v. etc.- they are confused, risk taking and not able to be in control of their lives , their choices. We need to cut the double messages out.Wouldn't it be best for the messages of people who really give a damn (parents, teachers, family) to finally be more important than the revenues of a magazine unit??TEEN VOGUE works against this premise.

2-0 out of 5 stars Teenage Vogue, don't you mean teenage angst?
Teen Vogue?Good grief, Vogue was bad enough but Teen Vogue!Who was this written for in the first place, Paris Hilton and her filthy rich mob?
5-0 out of 5 stars Teen Vogue is the awesome!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars A decent fitness magazine IF you can overlook the flaws
About two years ago, I became a subscriber to Shape, mainly because I had received it for free as part of a package deal with another magazine.I had always liked browsing through issues of Shape in the supermarket, and I thought that being a subscriber would help support my fitness goals.Overall, I have enjoyed Shape and found it to be useful, but there definitely are some negatives, and the magazine might not be for everyone.
4-0 out of 5 stars Shape
I like Shape because it has great tips to help spice up a workout so you never get bored. There are great articles on places to stay, hike, relax, etc.As well, there are great inspirational stories.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best exercise magazine
Their work out are very effective if you comply with the guideliness for each move and routine. I love it!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Shallow -- exploits endangered species for "fashion"
I was a loyal subscriber to Elle Decor until they started using endangered species' pelts as decorative accents in their magazine photos. This latest (November 2006) issue was the last straw - featuring a zebra's pelt used as rug in a guady room full of gold details.Three more zebra pelt rugs are shown prominently in the magazine's pages, obviously planted in the featured homes by the publication's staff, who clearly think endangered species pelts are the latest fashion. When I wrote to express my concern about endangered animal parts featured in an earlier issue, I received no response from the magazine - they only print glowing, fawning letters to the editor on their "Mailbox" page...never any criticisms.I am taking this magazine off my list of home decor magazines that I subscribe to - I recommend Home magazine, Architectural Digest, or O at Home instead.Style without conscience is shallow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
I'm an interior design major and my mother bought me a subscription to this magazine for Christmas this year...I love it! A previous review mentioned that this magazine advertises things that were wayyy out of her budget. Well, that may be true but if you're creative, it can give you a lot of great inspiration!

5-0 out of 5 stars The most elegant magazine on the market
I am a long time reader of Elle Decor and I adore it! I save every issue and constantly look at them for inspiration. As one of the few design magazines to not go totally down market in the past few years, I really appreciate the integrity of the houses and apartments ED shows.

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but too much "mom stuff"
I was annoyed that this magazine seems to equate "mature woman" with "has kids".I enjoy the realistic fashion tips and advice, and I get annoyed with Cosmo's teenage attitude, but I'd like to see more about careers to balance out the "how to be a mom who does it all" sections. And yes, I'm not kidding...there's a regular section on being a mom who does it all.
3-0 out of 5 stars Fun to read.
This mag. is fun to read and has good recipes. Also, the subscription was inexpensive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sophisticated but Practical
Like most women in the UK, Vogue features fashion that is low-maintenance and stylish. Unlike the US, French, Italian mags, the British edition is for the true brit: easy, fun, casual fashion that is practical for every day life. The only problem is they tend to feature Kate Moss on the cover WAY too much.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than its American counterpart by a long shot!
I picked up a copy of British Vogue when I had finished reading my American Vogue for the month, interested in the British Vogue and its take on fashion, plus I've had subscriptions to British magazines in the past and was impressed with them. There are many, many things that set this magazine apart from American Vogue.First, this magazine's main focus is fashion. They devote more space to models than celebrities, socialites, or noblility types. They don't only focus on the high and unreachable fashions but also feature more affordable clothing (granted, its mostly at British stores, but the thought counts) . The articles in British Vogue are more educated, and they cover more ground.Another thing I really liked was that this magazine not only shows fashions and trends but also shows you HOW to put them together, what mixes with what, and what you should be looking at getting. They also talk about staple pieces in this magazine, how and where to buy those. This magazine also has a pride for country that you don't see in the U.S. anymore which is a breath of fresh air.The snootiness of American Vogue, the parading around couture only, the $900 first night sets and whatnot are left out of this magazine. It almost seems like this magazine is more practical than its American counterpart.Lastly, this magazine is of higher quality, with full, glossy pages, a glossy cover, and is overall about 2 inches bigger all the way around than its American counterpart. This magazine is very, very good, I just wish a subscription were more affordable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous.
British Vogue is an absolute top-notch publication that I would recommend to anyone who is seeking a fashion magazine that is truly about fashion. So much more interesting than its American counterpart, I adore and await nearly each issue that is released (naturally, as with any magazine, there are always months [usually January and July] that are not as stellar as the others). The editorials are almost consistently cutting-edge and the covers still feature models much of the time, as opposed to actresses each and every month. It really does celebrate Britain but it always has an eye on other parts of the globe. The paper on which this magazine is printed is also lovely - always heavy and nice to the touch - and of course the cover is glossy (unlike the matte American Vogue covers that the subscribers are left with). And the occasional "Catwalk Specials" supplements are great - covering so many different shows and "trends" - all smartly laid out.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring!
When the publishers of my all-time favorite women's fitness magazine (Muscle & Fitness Hers) decided to stop producing it, I had to find a suitable alternative. While it's not as "meaty" as Muscle & Fitness Hers, it's a good, inspiring read.It devotes too much space to fluffy stuff like clothing and makeup (and ug, even a few celebrities), but overall I would recommend it...at least until something better comes along!

5-0 out of 5 stars great magazine!
this magazine covers four main aspects: physical fitness, food & nutrition, health & beauty, and mental/spiritual health.it offers something in each and always has new and interesting information that is easy to understand for a person that is just a beginner in the fitness world or experienced.the focus is on physical fitness, and food, and the information is valid and easy to transfer over into everyday life.workouts are easy to understand, with good photos to illustrate, and almost all can be done without making a trip to the gym.
4-0 out of 5 stars Keep 'em moving
This is a good thing.Anything that can keep the folks moving in the right direction is great.I like the idea of seeing people at the top end of the fitness ladder but also want to see those who are doing the best with what they have.A decent magazine is in a perfect place to make it happen because of the on-going exposure. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting and informative magazine
Actually, I'd give it a 3.5.Love the magazine articles, but wish there were a few less ads (there's scarcely a page without at least one).If you aren't careful, many of the ads look like articles.I'm unfamiliar with some of the products advertised and find many of them informative - but the sheer volume affects the price I'm willing to pay for this magazine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful magazine
My husband and I started with a free subscription to this magazine and fell in love with it.We both read it from cover to cover.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice holistic heath and wellness magazine geared mainly towards women
I've been a subscriber to Body + Soul magazine for about a year now, and I look forward to each new issue. The magazine focuses on many areas of interest to me, including healthy eating, holistic health, fitness, and personal growth. The articles frequently feature practical things like recipes, buying guides, yoga or other fitness instructions, and emotional exercises (the latter of which I find particularly helpful in my work as a psychologist). My only complaints about this magazine is that there is a bit too much of a focus on spiritual/meditation type issues, which are less relevant to me, and that the magazine is on the short side with a high number of advertisements.Otherwise, I definitely enjoy Body + Soul and do plan to renew my subscription. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My second favorite magazine right under Seventeen
This magazine clearly has its individuality and is positively changing. The magazine has affected me and made me more confident, but mostly, it's just been fun stuff to read. Here's more for you. They have their usuals, like the editors note, readers' letters', behind the scenes look, and a freebie calendar. There are the fun things, like secrets, embarassing stories, eerie tales (they usually put this in the magazine every few months), horoscopes, and some CG! manga. The features. Of course the features. Always good to read. This includes a set of clothing looks that are bright and fun, but sometimes they'll show wierd clothing looks that you'd be thinking you'd never wear in a million years. Other than that, for the rest of the features, there are makeup looks, and three or four extra articles that I find fun but dont affect me. There's the Get Real section, where they have a short story about one girl who makes a difference in one important area of life. They also have a letter from one of the CG! workers on a troubled area of her life and how she dealt with the issue. Then there's Project 2024, where an article is featured in every issue on a famous person who makes a difference and tells you secrets for success. There is the guys section, where they have eye candy, 2 or 3 feature stories that help you out in situations in your relationship, and love stories that are just fun to read. There's the Body and Soul section where this mainly focuses on health and exercise. And the CG! look, that features TONS of makeup and beauty secrets. This magazine is one of the best out there, don't let this magazine slip you if you're looking for a good one!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Teen Magazine
I like Cosmo Girl magazine, but I do not like it as much as Seventeen magazine. Here are the Pros and Cons.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very Realistic
Compared to all the other teen magazines I have read/subscribed to (Teen People, Seventeen, Elle Girl, Teen Vogue, GL) CosmoGirl is the one you can relate to the most. Instead of showing a lot of clothes and makeup, it focuses on your inner beauty. There are many articles about real life that is relateable (like The Culture of the Rich). It features many articles that focuses on making the world a better place (like The Power of Change). I particularily love the Body & Soul section, where they feature articles about how to eat right, and a monthly workout. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An amazing fashion magazine that delivers every month

4-0 out of 5 stars sustance and beauty.. There left the tabloids at the back door
As an aspring graphic designer who is addicted to fashion, I have found this magazine to fulfill my needs. It's not the type of magazine that going to tell you which bathing suit works well for your "bum type." They are not interested in what the tabloids say about their featured actor/actress/model or whoever. It's more about having an slightly in-depth conversation. This is a magazine appropriate for those we a refined sense of fashion, satricial writing, feature writing and the many ebbs and flows of fashion "trends." Cosmopolitan as to can of Bud Light. Nylon magazine is amazing, with a creative touch no other magazine has. Based in the great NYC, this magazine oozes creative sophitcativeness, originality, and a sarcastic charm with amazing fashion, art, and espicially music. The photography is pure genius and the layout will just want you to flip through the magazine again and again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Takes too long to get
I ordered this a month ago and still have not received my first copy. I already have been charged for it. Better off just ordering through a card pull out in the magazine. Note says I won't get it until end of May. Ordered in Feb.

5-0 out of 5 stars First has got it all!
Reading every new issue of First is like sitting down for a chat with a friend. Get yourself a cup of coffee, put your feet up -- and it's an instant little vacation. I have honestly learned some very valuable facts from this entertaining women's publication. Fashion, food, family, the work place, money issues, hobbies... What more could you ask?

5-0 out of 5 stars Listening to my Dreams Saved my Life - my story - Wanda Burch, author of SHE WHO DREAMS, www.wandaburch.com
FIRST FOR WOMEN granted me the incredible privilege of an interview and story under "Light the Way," in their September 5, 2005, issue, pages 102-103. I am a 15 year breast cancer survivor whose book, SHE WHO DREAMS, tells the story of my survival and my use of dream imagery - in conjunction with surgery and chemotherapy - in the healing process. The writer, Lisa Maxbauer, and their photographer, Gina Renzi, were helpful, considerate, and generous with their time, their questions, and - together - produced an incredible tribute to my book and to my life. I would recommend FIRST FOR WOMEN for all women - and men. The variety of topics is astonishing, ranging from health and diet to social dialogue and family humor. My life goal is for my own story to make a difference in other people's lives - FIRST FOR WOMEN has provided me one more opportunity to make that happen.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth a penny...
This is the worst magazine I have ever subscribed too.I hated it so much after the first issue that when new ones came, I thru it right in the trash. Here why:
4-0 out of 5 stars Professionals and Competitors
I love this magazine mainly because I am a figure and fitness competitor. It has great tips.If you are not competitor and just love to workout, this magazine is for you, too! You will get motivated by every article and meal plans! I do not recommend magazine for individuals who are just looking to get toned and not to cut body fat to supreme low levels.Oxygen can at times overly advertise the supplements. I used to get Shape magbut I did not like the models in that mag. They looked way too small to be advertising fitness.I highly recommend this mag for those individuals are INTERSTED IN COMPETITIONS!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good read but don't bother subscribing.
Based on the reviews I read here, I purchased Oxygen and loved it.I signed up for a subscription that day.Two months later I have not received my first issue; but, I have received three "payment due" notices and customer service claims two issues have been mailed out to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars more magazine
Best magazine I've seen for women in their forties, and thirty's and fifty's. Its just great!

1-0 out of 5 stars "More" is truly LESS! A case of arrested development in zines.
I had very high hopes for this magazine, but alas. It seems to me that via their editorial content and their fashion pictorials that their TRUE message is:If you really want to feel good about being in your 40s or 50s, you had better keep looking like you're still in your 20s!
5-0 out of 5 stars Magazine Junkie
I love magazines. Always have. It was the one thing my mom allowed herself as an extra, even though she was very frugal in everything else. I read a lot of magazines, but have never felt like actually reviewing one until MORE. If you are over 40, or even close, you'll love this magazine. It not only features but celebrates the beauty in women as they grow older and wiser. The articles are inspiring, the pictures of the models are real, and it never fails to surprise me in each issue with some article about women who rise above their circumstances with grace. Take the issue about women who survived breast cancer. Not unusual for an article, you say. But how many magazines actually show these beautiful women post-mastectomy nude from the waist up and gorgeous and not ashamed of their body. I loved the woman who tatooed the scar and made something beautiful out of it. If you want a magazine you'll read, read again, and hate to throw away, this is it. I love it. It's better than O! ... My friends and I love this magazine even more now that Brandon Holley is the Editor. The fashion, music, celebrity & technology content is even better. Amazing!

5-0 out of 5 stars JANE - Love it!!
I love JANE mag these days! It's like a total bible for my life - the fashion is so cute and I can actually afford the stuff in there! It's got so much color and energy - I was inspirired by every page. No articles on diets or how to plz men. I want to hang and go shopping with all the writers and girls in the magazine - cool smart chicks who still love fashion :) No other women's magazine has such cool pages on beauty, all the others write about botox, but JANE doesn't do that. And love the "pranks" - the world needs to laugh a little more!

5-0 out of 5 stars Jane rocks
This magazine is my absolute favorite, I feel like the editors are people I'd actually be friends with. I also check out French mags like Jalouse for their fashion and JANE feels more like that than a typical American mag. The music reviews are right on, a great mix of indy and pop. Plus this is the only magazine that actually makes me laugh out loud when I read it. ... Read more

Great magazine for ideas for your big day, hairstyles, dresses, and more.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Just For Brides
I'm not married, not engaged, not even with someone. Actually, I have no desire to be married ever, but I buy a copy of Brides maybe twice a year. I find it to really help me out for all the formal occasions I have to attend, including weddings. I like the dress ideas in there and the little things that I tend to want to see like the latest Kitchen Aid Mixer and all that kind of stuff. Honestly as far as Bridal Magazines go, this is the one you should find your dress, ring and honeymoon ideas in. Other Magazines have the all the other stuff, but all the dresses available are in Brides. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Thumbs up from a personal trainer
I keep up with what's going on with the fitness and weightloss industry but I did not really pay too much mind to WW till an old client brought it up. I bought it and it is so motivational that I recommend it to my clients because of the success stories. It really helps to know that people all over the country are attaining their weightloss goals. I have now start to add success stories to my website at
4-0 out of 5 stars Good Accompaniment for WW Program
My favorite feature by far in WW magazine is the personal success stories. Years ago, they only featured a few "losers," but now each issue contains 6-8 of the inspirational accounts. The magazine only takes a few minutes to read, and the level of health and fitness information it contains is basic, but if you need a little push in the motivation department every now and again, subscribe!

4-0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile for diet and nutrition newbies
WW magazine is one of the best for those wanting sound and sensible advice on adopting a healhty lifestyle. The articles are well written and accessible, though at times a bit on the basic side. It's perfect for the clueless or confused and frustrated with all the diet hoopla.

2-0 out of 5 stars Tons of Tidbits
There are very few serious articles in this magazine-- just tons of tidbits (stats/facts/tips). By the time you get to the end it's difficult to recall anything from the magazine; it's that shallow.
3-0 out of 5 stars The Magazine Diva says.......
Prevention is a magazine anyone can benefit from with great ideas on easy lifestyle changes. On the flip they are not very specific, although geared more toward a female audience. Some issues are excellent and some are average, but always informative and positive, never condesending.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tidbits
I love this magazine. It is EASY reading and what you read is easy to digest. There are so many tidbits of information that I find so useful. It makes me want to live a healthier life, and also have a healthier family. Since subscribing to it, I find that I have changed the way I do a lot of things. It's my favorite magazine which I compare to a ray of sunshine. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Playgirl isn't what it used to be- Try CFNM
For years I loved this magazine because of it's depiction of straight men as the objects of women's affection in beautiful and erotic ways. It has since gone down hill a little. But a great alternative I would suggest is the genre of CFNM. This is where women enjoy naked men, but the women always stay clothed. Often the men are jocks, business executives or police officers, men in power who are made into objects the women (and men) can enjoy.

1-0 out of 5 stars it has been six weeks and still no magazine
i dont understand why it takes so long to receive a magazine.next time i will not order through the internet.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad for my first time
I had never before purchased this magazine so had no idea what to expect.I was impressed as there are many gorgeous men displayed throughout and the reading is also good.I do think the magazine could add a few more pages... but overall, this magazine has done me well (most certainly when I have to be home alone 3 nights out of the week). My man is gorgeous but when he's not home, this magazine can do the trick. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Find for a Parent/Teacher!
I think I have read at least one issue of almost every parenting, family, children, activity, teacher magazine there is...This one is by far the best I've read in a while!
5-0 out of 5 stars finally a parenting magazine for me!
I have always avoided parenting magazines: with their crowded covers of life-or-death information, flash-in-the-pan expert pontificating (pacifiers are dangerous! not using pacifiers is dangerous!), buzz-word-loaded headlines, and frantic exclamation points, they are as unappealing to me as the local evening news. The inside of those magazines are just as scattered and hectic as their covers and, as a nanny, the articles themselves, primarily on life as a parent like getting your spouse to help out, sex after kids, how to get your groove back/feel hip, what toys to buy your childrennext, etc, were not really my niche anyway.
4-0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for!
The title of this magazine caught my eye on the newstand - and I'm glad I bought the first issue! As a first time, new mom there were many articles that inspired and encouraged me. If you want to learn to journey with your children as they wonder about the world around them while understanding how they develop and teaching them, give this magazine a try!
